This is the best news I think we could receive before the next transfer window. Freund seems to have a good history in identifying players and hopefully implements some organization outside the scattered approach this summer. It'll be interesting to see how he does without the Red Bull groups resources but that shouldn't be a problem here.

Boehly mentioned something like trying to develop a network of teams similar to RB, maybe this move is also him trying to get lose to RB and linking up to the network? I don’t know much about this guy, apparently he’s scouted several top players like Haaland, so he’s a good option. And I’m all for the network of teams, in Spain all top teams have a team in the lower divisions to develop their players, but some like Athletic Bilbao also have a network of teams in the Basque Country from the Spanish lower divisions they have agreements with. It’s much better than loaning to other teams who have their own agenda, as the players are more likely to have a development route given the agreements.

Freund was part of the RB set up which has clubs all across Europe, the United States, and in Brazil. Boehly wants to set up a similar thing, where we have feeder clubs all across the world which gives us the ability to loan players and have first pick on world wide talent. So if the academy is lacking (which it is now) we also have this  as a resource.  Boehly also wants to bring in a technical director/advisor to the club that is going to work with both Potter, Freund, and Macaulay.

I for one am absolutely excited. For the first time we are finally seeing some sustainable structure within the club. Everyone in the Premier League has money now, which means we cannot operate the same way as we did under Roman.

I am excited about it. The club needs some structure and getting Potter and Freund in around the same time should put them in a good spot to build a vision together.

If we could bring in child clubs in Portugal, Belgium, and Brazil to source and develop played and Freund can implement that then it sounds like a great set up

As I'm someone from Austria, this is absolutely great News. Freund discovered so much great Talents for Red Bull and made incredible Sales about it. This Guy will take us to the next Level - he is An Mastermind and combined with Chelsea Talents at Cobham we are set to take Next Level.

Stephan Reiter said yesterday that Chelsea have not yet sought talks with Salzburg. He also stressed that Freund does not have an release clause - so Chelsea would probably have to pay a considerable sum for Freund. But I think that if Freund has an agreement with Chelsea and Freund really wants to go to London, then Salzburg will not put any obstacles in his way.
What's interesting is that Sky Austria reported today that there has been no further contact between Chelsea and Freund since last Wednesday.

Interesting, RBS general manager has said this is "definitely not happening" and he expected Freund to honour his recently signed contract until 2026:

This doesn’t really mean anything though? He could be saving face or not aware of what is going on behind the scenes

The CEO just said they had a verbal agreement with us.  😄

Having a hard time getting Google to bring up thar article.

As far as I understand, Chelsea now has to get in touch with Salzburg formally - which they haven't, at least until the interview with CEO Stephan Reiter yesterday. That's why he ruled out the depature of Freund.

Then perhaps a start would be to make contact

So not only do we get twisted stories in player transfers, but now sporting director.

It truly is never a dull moment at Chelsea football club. Never.

IF transfers were reported in a straightforward manner, your social media gossipmongers wouldn't make a cent from clicks and views. The more tweets, videos or podcasts Romano or Matt Law can create, the more money they make.

Instead of hearing about the start and end of negotiations we are treated to hour-by-hour commentary and opinions on transfers, drip fed for maximum engagement. It makes the process seem longer and more convoluted than it really is.

Remember when we tapped Kenyon and got him on gardening leave right away? Good times lol...

I don’t do Twitter,  Twatter, Tick cock, Face time, or any other sh*t social media bull sh*t, so I’m saved from it. The small amount I come across is on here.

The best source of information is down the pub.
