Enzo Fernandez - not wanted in England, the Falklands or probably Argentina now

The two "Ornsteins" of Argentina have basically confirmed that City wants him. So I guess there surely is truth to it. My two cents on this situation is that Chelsea will not go anywhere lower than the Rogers fee and City will not pay that.

They have 'confirmed' that his agent Pastore is standing on a street corner holding out an Enzo sign, yet again. They may well want him, but not so badly as to try and conclude an offer.

It is what I believe, too. Won't happen.

I don't care that Enzo scored against England, it's the Falklands stuff I care about. He already has a past for upsetting other countries too, like the French. He also tried to get his former teammate sent off in the World Cup final, a former teammate that he wants to join at Real Madrid. He's pissed off the French, English and Spanish, whilst having his agent big him up like he is one of the best CM's in the world (he's not). He's brought all of this on himself.

As for Hazard wanting to join Real Madrid, it's not even comparable. I have no issue with players one day wanting to join Real Madrid, but Hazard was 100% focused on achieving everything with Chelsea first, and the only thing he didn't walk away from Chelsea with is a Champions League medal. Also, the Hazard to Real Madrid stuff only really started in his final 2 years at the club.

Catching up on a lot here. What did Enzo say about the Falklands? I can't see any pictures of him holding the banner nor comments he made online or in interviews. I know he posted Wonderwall, but then deleted it... Doesn't seem too controversial to me.

Sure, Romero, Paqueta and some others were pushing the Falkands stuff and I think they're idiots but to be honest, that sh*thousery doesn't really bother me. The Falklands are British, them winning a football match doesn't change anything. I don't like the Argentinian machismo bragging, they can be sore winners as well as sore losers which isn't a good look. Maybe the backlash of that lands on Enzo as one of their top players, which is fair.

That being said, some of the comments on here (not yours specifically) paint him as an absolute donkey. If he gets sold for £120m I'll be happy. If he doesn't, I won't mind and will hope Alonso gets the best out of him, and the rest of our players

Looking forward to the statement in a week or two from Man City saying they were never interested in Enzo and that these reports are again driven by the agent.

Amazing going onto Reddit and seeing how many of our "fans" absolutely love him

The majority of reddit "fans" couldn't point to Stamford Bridge on a map if you circled it for them.

Everything wrong with modern football fandom on there including a palpable disdain for "legacy fans"

Yes, I'm getting old and turning into my dad!

I listen to a couple of CFC podcasts and I've noticed something similar, they always describe him as a "fantastic" player, or words to that effect. It's bizarre, like they're afraid to give an honest opinion of the player, and I can only guess it's for fear of upsetting agents and losing access to their "sources" at the club.

Here he is laughing and smiling with the flag, seems to be enjoying it quite a lot. Plus the deleted Instagram post. You would have thought he's have learned to wind his neck in on international duty after the France debacle but perhaps he is too stupid to learn from his mistakes. A stupid player with equally stupid loyalists.

He isn’t a great passer.

He isn’t a great tackler.

He has an appalling first touch.

He doesn’t have some otherworldly engine.

He doesn’t have elite vision.

He has an average shot and a well timed run into the box.

He’s OK. Positionally he’s a nightmare to fit into this lineup. As a 10 you’re sacrificing a player that’s better than him to accommodate him, as a 6/8 you’re giving Caicedo double the workload and losing a metric f**ktonne of formational discipline.

As previously mentioned he’ll do fine at another club but he’s not good enough to sacrifice the rest of the team for.

Caicedo, RJ/Lavia

Stevie/Quenda, Palmer, Rogers

You’d have to sacrifice one of the above to fit him in to the side somehow and they’re all better in their respective positions than him.

I would say his strengths are his passing and work rate, the issue is one is hampered by inconsistency over a full season and the other by his lack of physicality and/or athleticism.

Fair enough, I hadn't seen that photo. Was the deleted post him posting Wonderwall? Or did he reference Falklands?

I think Fernandez is an idiot. Decent footballer, but it drives my nut in when people don't think or understand their actions have consequences.

I think his passing is bang average. He overhits or underhits passes constantly and complains to the receiving player about why they didn't get to it. Lost track of how many times he's done this in the game, which results in the opposition countering us on the break. Sometimes even under no pressure. @Term_X and I on matchdays made it a habit of always pointing out when he does it, and it's so frequent.

He's only good at 2 things, and they all revolve inside the box. Timing his runs, and his vision in finding the free attacker.

Nail on the head for me, always prefers him further forward if anywhere, but has always seemed to be somebody that we try to fit in rather than a player that is so strong in a certain position that merits one of the first names on the team sheet. Never liked him with Moises preferred Gallagher back in those days rather than him.

Caicedo, RJ/Lavia is a terrible midfield. If Enzo is sold we need 2 midfielders.

Fernandez is a 100-120 million rated player to the outside world, yet on this forum hes an awful player?

I know we havent had any offers yet but the above is such a contrast, hey ho.

He's not a 100-120m rated player to the outside world or - as you say - we would have had offers.

ok 50 million rated player but on here hes awful i think you get my point, its a bit puzzling?

I've noticed that myself which falls under inconsistency but it's also hard to say how many of those passes are affected by him running up and down the pitch/getting gassed. I also recall a few moments of miscommunication so I sometimes get the complaints to other players.

I think despite all this he still ranks quite high in passing metrics (https://theanalyst.com/competition/premier-league/stats) so he's clearly doing something right.

Not that puzzling really, Enzo is definitely not an awful player, but in reality he's a 50m player (80m in the actual market?) with limitations but being treated by the club/managers as if he was Modric or Iniesta, players you wouldn't even get to price at their peak. Everything seems about him on the field, we make tactical changes to accommodate Enzo instead of Palmer, for example. He infuriates his teammates (twice now?) and gets the captain armband. He's the face and soul of "CFC" basically. Treated fairly and within that price range, we'd be seeing him on the bench much more often, used like the 12th player that gets subbed in the 60th min to potentially score the "clutch" goal or keep hold of the ball and I'd guess many of us critics would shut up and ride along his dark arts and stuff.

I think he's worth 60-70m and he's not going to improve. I could see why a club might spend 80m on him because he's a big name, image rights etc. However I think he's only worth that if you played him in a 8/10 position where he can score goals - which he is good at.

That however just isn't good enough to be in our first team. We need someone worth double that. We are not going to win the league with Enzo.

And if we're playing him as a 6, he's worth less. He is dogsh*t as a 6. That's why he never plays there.

No it isn't. That's a strong base to give your attackers the freedom to do what they need to. Lavia is press resistant and can progress a ball while Caicedo is the natural disruptor.

Quantity, not quality

Come on even if Lavia and James could perfectly synchronise their injuries which is about as likely as £50 notes falling from the skies thats not enough. This idea that James is a top class midfielder is ridiculous he can play through necessity if he has to play there constantly well soon seen the flaws in this idea. I guarantee Alonso wouldn't want that either. If Enzo leaves we will find a replacement.

If Enzo goes we 100% sign Adam Wharton. That’s a no brainer and another huge reason for Enzo to go.

If he doesn’t go though both RJ & Lavia should be ahead of him in the ‘partner to Caicedo’ pecking order.
