Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Featured Replies

We live in a society now that believes people cannot be redeemed. sh*t happens, a 23 year old idiot being swept away in groupthink. Fofana should have kept it out of instagram, let the club deal with it, the most extreme thing that could happen is Enzo doubling down on it and not apologising or speaking with the players, then fair enough. And even then, if the players can’t work it out after he tries to heal the wounds, move from there. Also demonstrates how poor the relationships are within the group prior to this, that the pitchforks come out via social media; we have no leaders. Nobody could truly say John Terry was actually racist when analysing his life and actions as a whole.

Regardless though, a PR Disaster and a LOT of work. An absolute mess.

I'd suspend him and sell him if I was BlueCo ... can't have people like that around the place.

That kind of action can set a team back like you would not believe. Destruction of team harmony and building as it will imoact not only the french players.

Sides will be taken and even when it has been sorted and the dust settles, will never be same again.

That will go just swell with all our other investors/assets and our nice little club in Strasbourg though... hardly think they can do that and not face major consequences going forward. Do that and I can see French players just straight out refusing to sign for Chelsea, regardless of wages and everything else.

Sometimes I do believe you'd make a hell of a pundit with some of your takes, ax 😅

Thank you thank you lol.

Even if Clearlake are all about saving their prized assets and are so cynical they don't care how it comes across to the outside world, the last thing they want is a PR nightmare that will destroy any chances of the club to do well on and off the pitch. What kind of message does it send to the public if you sell all the black French players to accommodate Enzo so that he could get away with his racist behaviour? Obviously it's not going to happen, nor should it.

I have not heard the translation of the song, but some are saying it mentions France taking players from Nigeria, or Ivory Coast, or Morrocco etc.

Does it mention their skin color? Or it is mentioning they are born in another country and France are stealing them away for their national side?

If it does mention skin color then absolutely is racist. If it is about France nicking players not born in France is true they do, they tried it with Drogba and Essien.

Certainly is a huge, huge mess and not what we needed. At the very least Enzo has been very stupid.

"Spread the rumours

They play for France but they are all from Angola

How nice it is we are going to make them run

They are tranny eaters like that f*ing mbappe

His mother is Nigerian. His father is Cameroonian. But in the passport. French nationality. "

I'd say under the circumstances keeping him with some bullsh*t mea culpa apology orchestrated by the club's PR department is going to do a whole lot more damage to the club than sacking him. Fofana, Disasi, Sarr, Ugochukwu, Lavia, Nkunku and Gusto have already unfollowed him on social media, which nowadays is a sign that you don't want anything to do with the person in question. The only tiny possibility for him to get back in is to face those players, apologize, ask for their forgiveness and hope they can find it in their heart to believe he's being honest, but I doubt they would and I would feel the same.

But at this point I think there's no way back for him. The club is f**ked either way.

Is everyone forgetting the colour of our club CAPTAIN!!!

This is not just about the French players, this about every black or brown fan , former/current players and staff.

Everyone on that bus knew that song was racist because they did it before, after the World Cup.

What do they mean by the bolded bit? I don't get that.

So is certainly against the LGBQT, hate crime with the Mbappe bit, am guessing Mbappes mother is Nigeria and dad from Cameroon, looks like the song specifically targets him.

What a stupid thing to sing though. Like a bunch of 13 year Olds.

Its very cut and dry, he sang a racist transphobic song on camera then posted it, he's therefore a racist and a transphobe as well as a thick Berkshire

I'm afraid there's no hedging your bets on this matter because he's one of our players, if you condone him or even look the other way you're onboard with the prejudice alongside him and his Argy mates

There can only be one decent outcome and one course of action for CFC that's to cancel his contract for bringing the club into disrepute, if you disagree go take a long hard look in the mirror or join Nigel Farage and his mates

I honestly don’t see him leaving the club he will apologise and the club will run a PR program to try and move past it.

Will it work, who knows football supporters can be a fickle bunch and some may say he’s said sorry and move on completely forgetting how many black teammates he has offended.

Haven't caught up with every details, but that's exactly what we don't need heading into pre-season. You won a cup, go celebrate with your team mates, but why posting videos ( or live feed) from the dressing room, just to get a few more likes? We all know unsavory  behaviors could occur in moments like that, so leave it in the room 🤫 Instead, he broadcasted it and what's worse proved himself to be guilty of something that nobody wanted to be associated with. It will be awkward when they all return to pre-season, and not following him on social media would be least of Enzo's worries. An apology on social media and a small fine may not cut it on the occasion. It's a nightmare for the coach and the club to deal with.

The club posted this 5 hours ago on their official YouTube channel. Damage control has started i suspect. Odd time to post this interview. Even though he signed with us on this day 2016.

The issue is its still up!

If he hasn't taken it down and apologised by now then there won't be any harmony at the club.

I agree with a lot of you, he needs to act quick to fix it but unfortunately its still not quick enough.

It's actually not that hard to avoid being a racist and homophobe, even when drunk.

Financial consequences are not a concern. It's about the club having a moral backbone at time where racism and homophobia are increasingly rampant. We need to avoid another Paul Canoville situation where we apologise and hand-wring decades later.

The club has an awful history of racism, yes, but this club also has a proud recent history of being an inclusive, cosmopolitan team who have embraced many heritages and cultures since the 1990s. The club's stance today will determine what French and African people will think of the owners and club decades from now.

Besides, it's a clear breach of contract and should Enzo not go quietly, the precedent set by Mutu's case a decade ago puts him at risk of legal action.

For the clubs side:

The last bit about the contract...is he in breach? Can he be released? What's the financial consequences?

squad:

Regardless of all that, with 5 or 6 unfollowing him and posting about it, I fear its too late for Enzo to make amends with the squad, I just don't see it. I don't see an apology as enough, especially with social media. The best thing for the squad if they don't "genuinely" accept him back is for clearlake to take the hit. They'd gain the respect of the squad and the fans.

Oh it's also all over mainstream media too.

Beeb, guardian and even metro...

Seriously how stupid can he be!

It's shocking.

It's only a matter of time before every player feels the pressure to unfollow the guy, now that train is rolling!

"oh sh*t look Cole Palmer didn't unfollow Enzo, he must be racist" - I can hear it on Twitter already from here!

Yep, I honestly think it's too late already.

I'm shocked it's still up and he ain't apologising to every team mate.

Yep, the first thing to do is deactivate Instagram completely for a while! There must be thousands just checking his follower list every minute to make a story!

With social media these days it's seconds and minutes not days. It's everywhere already. I don't understand how it's still up on his insta!
