October 6, 20241 yr Maresca downplayed Colwill and Noni's injuries when they were in the changing room after the game. Likely a holding statement, but also hope the club pull them from international duty. Took his goal well. Was frustrating in first half, but that's a little unfair as he was the only one brave enough to shoot. I do like his directness; just needs coaching on decision making. If he can slow things down a little in his mind he'd pick better options.

October 7, 20241 yr He was one of the few that had a go. The match day thread was frothing at his perceived selfishness - but I think his willingness to have a shot and try should be applauded, not least when his options were limited by the brain dead donkey galloping in circles or the wrong direction up top.

The only one who actually pressured the defence by running at them. Which is his go.
October 15, 20241 yr I think Noni starts as usual but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Neto in for Sancho on Sunday

Didn't you know Noni is the next English player to get pelters because some 'fans' that would rather see the exotic name start ahead of them. If Neto was in that position he would have controlled it perfectly and cut it back on the rabona for an easy tap in for his team mate. Noni is greedy in everything he does and shouldn't start!!!!
October 27, 20241 yr Something very routine about how he faces up fullbacks. Whether he cuts in or goes to the byline, it just feels like he is rehearsing an action rather than actually trying to get something from it. Needs to kick back into form a bit now after a positive start to the year has dropped off.

October 27, 20241 yr think he needs to sit out a few and have a think about his game... Been bang average last few weeks.
October 27, 20241 yr Agreed, needs a reality check or something. I hate it when players put their heads down and not help out either. A couple of games on the bench might do him good if he doesn't sort it out before next PL game.
October 27, 20241 yr Wasn't his best game today and probably should have been taken off sooner. The 'selfish' tag line people are branding him with is beyond lazy though. Far from selfish.

Agree- just before he got taken off he sprinted the full length of the pitch to cover and defend a counter attack.. also maresca wanted us to slow the pace down in the second half hence he slowed a little bit .. let’s c.. but I do agree a couple of games out could Spur him on.

If Neto nods that in, the landscape of the game changes.

Thats the only thing he did all game. My grudge with him is that he has the demeanour like he is as good as Palmer when he is very far from that level. When people talk about effort its not just work rate but also end product, passing the ball quickly, making the right decisions etc. instead he holds the ball and often shoots when is best to pass it to someone else. He was in some great positions yesterday and he wasted them all apart from that cross to Neto.
October 28, 20241 yr Posted this in the Newcastle MOTM thread, and it's probably worth repeating here. Voted for Madueke. Not because he played great, he didn't. But because he deserves just a smidgen of the love and patience so many on here give Jackson whenever he has "a complete mare" of a game. Noni has had games this season where he has been our best player. People need to remember that. Yes, he has an attitude but boy, so does Jackson!

It goes both ways, some of you could show the same love and patience for Jackson as you show for Madueke. Both are young and learning and both deserve patience.
October 29, 20241 yr I think I've shown them both love. 😆 But I mentioned this even in the preseason games and some of the recent ones. He has the tendency of not knowing when to be selfish and when to be unselfish. But recently he does come across as "its my turn to score" and missing an open pass a lot more than previously. He needs to learn that not every game will be the same. Some he'll be assisting, some he'll be scoring, some he'll do both. But it's still a thing with him and it's taking him a bit of time to nail it. I guess experience helps and maybe if maresca sidelines him for 1 or 2 starts it could be a mental reminder. 12 hours ago, Gentian said: Thats the only thing he did all game. November 4, 20241 yr Clumsy dribbler ain't he? Unless he kicks it past the defender and beats him on pace, he really isn't the one who will work well in tight areas. Teams are doing well restricting the space he has. Once he does get in the box he's just not making any impact. He's been given the most game time out of any winger and hasn't been able to get through this bad patch. I'd drop him for Neto.
November 4, 20241 yr Kids done sweet FA in the past few games. Time for Trykky Mykky to get another chance perhaps.

However he still does help track back and recover possession when we are defending. Mudryk is totally unpredictable doing forward, but he also can be a total liability defensively.
