He's in big trouble next season with Estevao arriving. If he is as good as he is hyped up to be and not another overhyped Brazilian, then I don't see a future for Madueke unless he seriously improves his performances.

Very big trouble. Has the next 2 seasons to get his act together.

Needs a very long time on the bench, but the other options bar Neto are all bang average

I said at the start that unless he has a Robben like season/development path then he will be sold in the summer. It's not looking good so far.

I think its inevitable he's being sold, when you think about what we have coming in, the qestion is for how much and who would buy him, we brought hime for about 30is? so we'd want to move him on for about 50 and who would / could pay that for him

Storming down the tunnel like a petulant child!

Players need some arrogance and he was borderline/at the high end already but its definitely gone to his head even more after the wolves match.

Needs to be benched for a few games and if he doesn't get his attitude/sh*t sorted then I'd reassess his potential ceiling/worth/future/etc...

His arrogance will be his own downfall if he doesn't address it imho.

I'm not really buying into his "attitude" problem. He's a young guy expressing emotions, we don't need more bland "wholesome" media friendly personalities. It's okay to be competitive, it's okay to be emotional and it's okay to be frustrated. Whatever his emotions, they certainly don't affect his work rate on the pitch

I do, however, have genuine concerns about his talent. I am wondering if we have seen the ceiling rather than the floor of Madueke's talent. He is good off the dribble, a decent crosser, a decent finisher and decent at tracking back...but not outstanding in any one category.

Maybe this is it, a decent, above-average Premier League winger who'll net 8-10 goals and assists a season. He'd be a great squad player, but I don't think he's going to want to stick around to do that.

This.

This is the real question with Madueke. I give big prop to Madueke for improving his game especially on the defense end, right now no question he belong here.

But as you said, is this his ceiling? How much better can he be? We also have two left footer attacker coming next season

Yeah, for all my complaints on this guy he's not a bad player per say. He'll do a job at a mid/lower table team like a Everton or Bournemouth. If he was an academy player I would be happy to keep him around as a squad player but he cost a fair bit of money, which I think we should look to profit on whenever possible. We could pull kids from the academy like George that will provide more or less the same value in terms of squad depth if given the same amount of opportunities he has got.

My issue has always been that what you see now is the best you are going to get unless something crazy happens and he turns into Robben, which is very unlikely. As he ages he may get more consistent but he's still not going to be able to pass properly or dribble effectively instead of running out of options/holding onto the ball too long. I just don't see those things developing immensely with Noni, you can usually spot it very early on if they have it or not.

We know he has the talent. Just got to go back to basics and show it more consistently. If Cucurella can turn it around so can Noni.

One thing for certain though, every match so far you can here maresca shout "noni, NONI, NONI" then pointing, lol.

Went back through some of the extended highlights too and you can hear him. Just thought it was funny his name is heard more than anyone else's.

Haven't heard that myself. But wouldn't it be great if Madueke turned round and responded with "OY, OY, OY"!

Lmao

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

This is from the BBC report on tonight's England game against Greece.

"Ollie Watkins justified his selection ahead of captain Harry Kane when he put England ahead after only seven minutes, turning in Noni Madueke's cross after the Chelsea winger's fine run".

Makes all the difference having a proper centre-forward who can get on the end of those crosses. That is, after all, one of the main jobs of a proper centre-forward.

Problem he has at Chelsea is that he wants to be the protagonist for some reason and he wouldn’t even pass the ball in very promising situations. If he can release the ball quicker and pass to a teammate when they are in a good position rather than shoot yourself and waste the opportunity more often than not he would be much more productive.

Are we going to pretend we've never seen Jackson in the same spot waiting for Noni to pass the ball to him?

Also at the 30 or 31 minute mark when they had a chance at goal because Noni was gingerly jogging back. The earful he got off walker sorted him right out!

Our very young chelsea team need an experienced and mature leader on the pitch. Noni isn't the only one that needs a bollocking or encouragement during a game but we saw the benefit of it in tonight's match.

That's one of the things I and many others have mentioned a few times. I'm guessing maresca is trying to "create" that mature vocal player with all his "sub-captains" but it comes from experience too and also probably why he moaned at reece to be more vocal.

Are we going to pretent that Jackson wasnt 5 ft offside when Noni wanted to pass, and on the odd chance that the ball would come in, he would put it into row Z for 2 yrds out.....

Wait for the the Malouda never passed to Nando arguments.......

About as often as we have seen Jackson waiting in the right position to receive a cross from Neto, Mudryk or Sancho. So not very often no.

But what all the times he has done his job, beat his man and put the ball across, only for our esteemed centre-forward to be stood in the wrong position, or behind a defender, or too static and not anticipating the ball coming across? Does that not matter?

Can't agree with others who say this guy is the finished article. He's still only 22!

He's always had an edge to his attitude that has outweighed his contribution to the team though, which doesn't sit well. Can see him replacing Anthony Gordon at Newcastle during the summer.

Where do you think Gordon ends up?  I thought he just signed a new contract, although we all know how much those mean.

He has signed a new contract. Newcastle are looking for someone on the right in place of Almiron.

Since reading these 2 posts about Noni, it's been playing on my mind. And now I'm really doubting my earlier views. Cheers lads, gggrrr...lol

Ok, so yes he is only 22 and there "should" be more to come, but... "how much more?"

Will he reach robben status? One of my favourite players ever btw. Or is this it?

The only improvement maybe being "consistency" of running cold with a few hotspots every now and then, like a hattrick every dozen games or so!

Lol

I don't know anymore. I hate these international breaks. More time to over-think club football. They should do all the internationals during a 6 week period in the summer as someone suggested in an article.
