Kendry Paez

We're a football club, not a nursery. How many kids who dream of playing for the club, who'd give anything to see that dream achieved, are tossed out of the academy spaces because they're not quite good enough? Why give special treatment to someone who can't even knuckle down and take things seriously?

Looks like he's done here. Football is not for everyone I guess.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the 44-year-old manager did not mince his words when addressing Paez's immediate future in west London. "No, no. He is not part of the plans," Alonso stated bluntly. "At the moment, he is not part of the first team squad."

No one wants him so he may stick around for a bit.

The South American Ravel Morrison.

Still time to turn a corner, but seems his attitude stinks.

What's gone wrong for Chelsea talent Kendry Paez?

Kendry Paez was one of the world's best young talents when Chelsea signed him as a 16-year-old. Three years later, he's playing for the Under-21s. So what has gone wrong?

Seen Chelsea were putting some heavy PR about him earlier on socials through their usual channels

Had high hopes, but really not sure what's next for him. Neither loan has worked out, with noises made about his attitude. Now he's back with us, hopefully he gets the wake up call he needs, knuckles down and improves. But the signs aren't great if he's struggling to start in the U21 team at 19 years of age.

I watched a fair bit of him and Estevao when we initially signed them and I thought Paez was more ready to make an impact.

Attitude is everything. Attitude has got some players to the top of the game who’ve had less ability than Paez. Ability makes the journey a bit easier but no chance without the right attitude.

I hope he sorts his sh*t out but I’ve a feeling he’ll end up bumping around the South American leagues before retiring at 29 because he can’t be arsed anymore.

Definitely been caught up in the lifestyle. Grew up in a poverty area and then suddenly is given a nice contract at us and then probably from what I have heard is spending his money unwisely. attending parties and now not committing to football the way he was before. It is so important for young players to remain grounded and not get caught up in the lifestyle. Social media does not help as well. I guarantee you a lot of these players are on instagram messaging girls etc which they are full well entitled to do but when it distracts you from your job, then of course it becomes an issue.

All of this is normal and healthy for a teenage male. Footballers are not ascetics and despite what the holier-than-thou media might say, there are many (if not the majority) young male and female professional athletes who are both highly-performing and also living "the lifestyle". Conversely, there are many very bog-average footballers who are 'model professionals'. Yamal gets hammered from pillar to post about his lifestyle and he's still the best young player in the world. Rooney was bagging both goals and grannies at Paez's age. Reece James and Christian Pulisic have been model professionals since they were teenagers and there are still doubts as to whether their bodies are capable of professional sport.

It's way easier to blame a teenage boy's supposed moral failings than accept that wealthy clubs used him as a trading asset rather than a footballer.

We all tend to forget just how young some of these footballers actually are.

Often many come from poverty and from points east , west , south ( not many from the north) to a culture , an environment which which is a million miles ( metaphorically) from the one they get thrust into add to that their new found wealth away from family and friends all adds to the perils.

I wasn’t ready to move for work well into my is twenties and even then I didn’t face the challenges of language, adulation etc.
