From what I’ve seen I like him.

Seriously skilful and 2 footed, and young enough to adapt to the EPL and improve.

If we are in for him I think we’d have to act fast before Champions League clubs start sniffing around him.

Rayan Cherki just Signed a new contract to fend off interest from PSG and Real Madrid and Lyon has no interest in selling this summer as they have identified another player they can flog to help with the financial issue that they have.  Chelsea have spoken with Lyon about him. Maybe next summer? He is keen on moving to Chelsea apparently, but is wworried he won't get enough playing time. He can play either wing or as a central attacking mid.

i think it will be better for him to play another season in Ligue 1. I would like for us to do a deal similar to Nkunku where we confirm the transfer and lend him back to them.  under 50 million in this market it's a really good price.

i just really see in him a Hazard type player

I can totally see the comparisons, but he's definitely a few years earlier in his development than Eden was when he joined (understandably, considering he is younger). Question marks as to whether staying in Ligue 1 would help his development for the next year or two, as well as what his ceiling is.

Hazard is a dangerous name to use even in a throwaway sense when describing a player's style/potential, sets a mighty high bar.

Or a low one if you're talking post Chelsea Hazard...

i agree, but i think that for the amount of money that is being mentioned it's certainly worth the risk. I hope he isn't like Hazard because i would hope he is a player who works hard in training as well. But the thing i see in him is that unpredictability and flair and he is highly technical and creative. And he actually has a very similar stature to Hazard.

I hear you, I’m personally hoping for this summer though, he’s on a few teams radar but nobody has made a serious move yet.

I think next summer he’ll have more choices of teams which would make it even harder for us, especially if we was to miss out on Champions League again next season.

How does 1 interception every 4 games and nearly a tackle every 2 compare to other attacking mids?  Seems pretty low.

it is indeed low because those stats are compared to other players in his position. average is 0.53. He probably didn't have to contribute defensively.

btw Sterling has the lowest of all players with 0.07 lmao

he would have Caicedo & Enzo behind him to do the more defensive work, although i agree it would be preferable if he could improve in that area but with his age that should be possible and maybe it was also tactics from Lyon that gave him exemption from defending

if you consider that Lyon had a terrible season and that this is compared to all the top leagues and he is only 19, that's impressive

The best teams can't really have talented defensive passengers these days just look at PSG, but like mentioned someone like a Pochettino could coach that into him I guess, but no-one is coach that technique.

Usually take YouTube videos of player highlights with a pinch of salt.  Apart from when I saw Hazard clips and was constantly looking for updates desperately hoping we'd sign him.  This lad while not as impressive is the first time since that I've been impressed with his YouTube reels.  He looks the real deal.

I’m on the fence with players that lack pace as there is no substitute for that, especially in the PL. doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be massively successful, but could be a bit of a luxury player.

If the price is good (like it’s my money!) we should have a go here!

his lack of pace hasn't stopped him from having one of the highest progressive carries, succesful take ons & carries into penalty area in the whole of Europe

maybe he can do what lampard did and do some extra training to get a bit faster

Where would he play? Without pace, he won't be able to play on the wing, not in the Premier League. Ziyech really struggled with this. He had all of the flicks and tricks, but he couldn't pull them off consistently because his pace couldn't deal with the intensity of the league. Attacking midfield isn't as dependent on pace, but I expect that position to go to Nkunku.

I would definitely take him if we can get him though. There is space in the squad with Mount and Pulisic leaving and Ziyech expected to leave.

Agreed. I have also said that I wouldn't be against Daichi Kamada either who is now a free agent. If we ended up with Kolo Muani these two would make a good pairing as well again

Natural pace is great but it isn't everything.

Hazard, Joe Cole, Pat Nevin. None of them had real pace but all were technically gifted great players who could go past opponents without an over reliance on speed.

Whereas Jesper Gronkjaer had searing pace to burn past defenders but didn't have the technical ability to make it count very often.

Many players that rely on pace as their principal asset, regress rapidly when they start to lose that explosive speed. Torres, Shevchenko etc. IMO we are probably seeing this as well with Sterling.

Hazard was very fast

B silva says hi.

If you are a very good dribbler, you don't need to be very fast.

Not really.

Carrying one passenger is not difficult especially if he is a st. PSG carried 3 passengers, now this is whole another story.

Seems he's a real creative force but as others have said, it won't work unless he's willing to run his socks off. The Premier League is completely unforgiving in that regard. We would need to be absolutely sure he's got the correct personality where he will train properly and completely commit to improving his overall game and team contribution. We don't need another Felix. We don't need another Lukaku.
