August 31, 20232 yr according to sources we are close to signing this player for 25 million euros only 17 years old Edited August 31, 20232 yr by azpi28
August 31, 20232 yr Author i personally like these kind of transfers. It's exciting and you don't really know what to expect. There is no way you lose money on a 25 million euro investment. Every bum nowadays gets sold for more. And the kid is only 17. Give him a 8 year deal and it's just 3.1 million euros in transfer fees for this year. It's also smart because long long term you will have a good balance. Caicedo (21), Enzo (22) and Gallagher (23) in 5 years time will be on their top of their game at 26, 27 and 28. Then you have Lavia, Uguchukwu, Casadei, Moscardo, and Paez who will be 24, 24, 25, 22 and 21 respectively. It is layered age wise

There will be bubbles as in the property market but over the long term, which is Clearlake's obvious strategy, things will rise. Just as in the property market.
August 31, 20232 yr Just don’t see how these players are going to properly develop unless we buy another 2-3 clubs to loan them too
August 31, 20232 yr Why don't we buy a couple of teams in Brazil, so we could collect all the talents and play them together before they make the trip to London? I think it's a bit of madness to buy a 17 year old who had 5 senior games at that price. What's the plan to develop him ( and the other half a dozens we signed)? You've seen how so many players from Ligue 1 move on to bigger and better things for decent transfer fees.

September 1, 20232 yr Is something dodgy going on here with all these South American kids? Doesn’t make any sense - who for and when are they all going to play/develop?

The league is weak, the teams are poor, even the likes of Santos. What makes these kids worth tens of millions of Euros. Also when this all started we were nicking academy boys like Hutchinson, Matos etc out of the hands of others who were also sniffing around. The more this has continued I don't hear any of that, just this generational, wonderkid hype which is all well and good until an adult in senior football irons them out. At that point everyone realises these are just kids, pretty much the same that we have spent years created rather than just buying.

Sure, look forward to the days Strasbourg make some money for Chelsea. Some agents are making a killing out of these wonder kids collection. It used to be players with at least had a full season or some youth caps, now it's literally fresh off junior high with 5 games, not even enough youtube highlights to get excited about.
September 2, 20232 yr Im guessing we dont have any scouts in argentina...for some of the world class youngsters that come out of their league youd really think we would be trying to scoop up some of those too.

It’s interesting they are ALL Brazilian. Arguably Argentines are more suited the the PL right now as well. Not sure any of the Brazilian ‘wonderkids’ have actually worked for us to date - Kennedy etc. Feels like it’s all part of the multi-club plan. Buggered if I understand it though

They dont seem to exactly be our first choice destination, so whats the point really? 🤔. Just our owners throwing money around for no real benefit.

I think the latest group we've bought are waiting on their GCSE results before applying for their work permits
September 3, 20232 yr Where is that Brazilian fella? Apparently of all the Brazilians we signed, Gabriel Moscardo is apparently the most promising.
September 3, 20232 yr In Football manager, I managed to buy a number of wonderkids, and got dorking to double champions league winners. Todd and co clearly seen my handy work

Because it is an asset that increases the paper value for the hedge fund. Whatever the owners paid for Strasbourg is the current paper value of that club, which Clearlake can tack on to any 'valuation' and borrow against it. They don't give a toss if the transactions are actually profitable so long it generates paper value for them in the short-term.
