Fifth?! Even 7th place is making me dangerously lightheaded. Can we please drop back to 10th, I need to recover.

Don't worry Val 5th won't happen.  As bad as Spurs are they play Burnley and the woeful Sheff United in 2 of their remaining games.

Oh, dear. Glass half empty as usual axman.

Burnley will fight tooth and nail because they can still stay up by winning their last two games and us beating Forest. Spursy won't get anything from Man City. And the Sheff United game is away with The Blades wanting to give something back to the fans at their last EPL game. Plus the Spursy players have already surrendered, they are leaking goals like a sieve, and Pisstercockloo hasn't got a Scooby-doo what to do about it.

5th place is definitely up for grabs.

You really are reaching on Sheff United Just. My dad is a blade so I pay close attention to them and they are so, so bad. I don't think they could beat Spurs even if Spurs pull their 9 man trick again.

You have probably forgotten but Sheffield United have drawn 2-2 with us, Everton, Wet Spam and Bournemouth. Three of the finest teams in European football. And they have also beaten the mighty Wolves!

No way the Tottenham surrender monkeys will cope with the pressure of an all or nothing match to qualify for The Conference league next season. A last game home win over the Spursy Hotspur melts is an absolute banker.

Ah we will revisit this after Spurs beat Burnley on the weekend  ;)

No chance we catch Spurs now, even with a City defeat.

Next round  of fixtures will be the decider i think. We’ve got Brighton away who have hit some form and it’s their last home game which always lifts a team. We’re going to need United to do us a favour. I suppose Brentford away could be tricky for Newcastle. Personally I think we’ll draw or lose to Brighton.

Tbf, it's impressive how close we are to 6th place after reading the first post of the thread.

I would never have predicted we would be closing in on the 6th come the end of the season considering we've been lying around 10th all season.

We finish 6th and it's definitely an improvement, but f**k me do we need to sort out the defensive problems. How has it still not been addressed, every single time the back post, people not tracking their man. Where is the discipline and organisation in this team??? God I dread what it will be like when Thiago goes.

If Utd win the FA Cup it will be a disaster.

True, if they do 6th will get conference league, assuming United are not 6th.

It has been a while since T.Silva was at his best.

I just can't get on board with this negativity.

Way I see it is these last two games will really show what the lads are made of. We need James back (at least in part) and Palmer to play every minute, but we go out there and win both games and that's all we can do, worst case it's 7th, but 5th or 6th are both very possible.

I mean 5th relies on Tottenham losing both games. That just won't happen. No chance they lose to Sheffield United.

Win both of our games and I think we finish 6th.

Will we be able to take part in any euro competition though? we are in breach of THEIR rules, earlier in the season there was an article that said we might have to do what AC MILAN had to do in 2019/20

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48801681

Are we in breach of UEFa regulations ?  Lots making that assumption but it’s far more complex than just looking at accounts.

The penalty for exceeding squad cost ratios is a fine based on the ultimate prize  money achieved but very much in accord with an agreed and stated % which is documented in the 2023 version of UEFa licensing regulations which are a mile away from those in place in 2019/20.

Yes there would almost certainly be some sort of additional sporting sanction which could range from say squad size limits to yes being banned but when reaching a decision on those additional sanctions it is stipulated that concessions can be made when matters such as RAs sanctions could not be avoided and are treated as a force of nature.

Even then clubs can apply to three year accounting cycles to be excluded.

So back to my point the rules are massively different and even the fact that they aren’t primarily looking at just the accounts but now look at debt, overdue payables is a major step forward. Also it’s worth mentioning that squad costs in terms of wages won’t match the numbers in the accounts nor will agents fees be added on as I believe Chelsea account for these numbers in the overall amortisation numbers.

If there is one thing you can absolutely guarantee the owners will be league leaders in its knowing, manipulating and using the financial rules and numbers. They know a lot more about football in general than they did two years ago but are still beginners, but at finance and accounting they are the real deal.

Given this is Spurs we are talking about, I'm quite tempted by the home win at 13/2 odds with Skybet LOL

Win both of our games and I think we finish 6th.

Spurs current form over  the last 6 games is just 3 points better than Sheffield Utd. Of course Spurs should win but their manager is  losing the plot and as we know anything can happen in football

I agree, this Ange meltdown has thrown this one into doubt. It depends on how they react. They could go out and finish strong to send a message or they could all down tools and completely throw it.

That said, the above is reliant on us winning both of our last games, which I can see a draw in there to be honest.
