Matt Law has just tweeted that Maresca will stay regardless of whether we make the Champions League or not.

They plan to review at the end of NEXT season.

Sorry guys! I mean it 😃

Well he said we will die away and rot to an empty vessel. If he thinks so why use time on this hollow club? Or maybe the comment itself held no or very little truth or common sense.

It is one of my hobbies. I use a ton of time on it and love it. This forum is a big part of it. Sadly it is not that much of a fun place these days. There is a ton of negativity and arrogance.

I'm not trying to be negative or arrogant.

I just don't want this club to lose it's identity, how is that hard to understand? You just don't like it when someone doesn't agree with your way of thinking, I've accepted that you like the way we are going and that's fine.

Anyway, Enzo is staying so back on topic.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea future is not on the line over the club’s final three games of the season – whether or not the club qualifies for the Champions League. [@Matt_Law_DT]

Urgh.

Guess I’m taking up golf next season. I’m not going through another season under Maresca

ChatGPT: Supporting a football team can definitely be considered a hobby—especially if you follow matches regularly, keep up with team news, attend games, wear merchandise, or engage in fan communities. It combines entertainment, social interaction, and emotional investment, much like other hobbies. For many people, it’s a passionate and meaningful part of their free time.

Semantics?

Oh yeah sorry. Supporting your football team is like stamp collecting isn't it ?

Devil's advocate.

Who would you actually want to come in and replace him? Please don't say Simeone, Inzaghi, etc.

Keeping Maresca won't stop me from watching. What will stop me from watching is if Sanchez and Jackson still start for us.

Was always obvious. They'll see we are only 5 points from 2nd and will point to the wastefulness up front. Question is whether or not they will actually back Maresca with experience, leaders, and another f**king senior striker.

It's incredible that Maresca is the one they plan to review but not the two imbeciles upstairs that has us relying on an 18 year old winger to play up top in 2 must win games.

Todd said that the club is aligned right throughout from top to bottom. That must mean that no one will say things need to change.

They take us as mugs. They insult our intelligence. We know its not true.

Maresca has on more than one occasion directly said the team lacks experience and leadership.

On ownership: you can't compare owners with each other but have you ever seen what is going on in Manchester United? You want that type of scenario with the owners?

How did they blow 1bn? Where? I would argue that before the club hired the directors we bought the likes of Sterling, Koulibaly, Aubameyang, Nkunku....that Money was essentially wasted. That was also the way Roman blew through millions.

The young players we have bought with the directors for me are all (who are not sold already) under review for years. You can't tell whether a player becomes good or we can sell for profit or at least for what we paid of them.

I am not fan of Boehly and co but I think I see what their plan is and I think it is fine if they keep it on track and won't derail after every bump on the road or every sound our bunch does.

These owners almost immediately destroyed our status as one of the top PL clubs, and our status as a top European club too.

Poor, ignorant, arrogant, unnecessary decision making from which we are still yet to recover from.

Apparently the directors felt there weren't any necessary upgrades on Jackson last summer as that is why they didn't bring anyone in. The only one they felt was Osimhen which was why they spent all summer playing a game of poker with him, only to lose.

So Duran, Samu, Toney, wouldn't of been an upgrade on Jackson? Or at least benched him? Now we are in a situation where not having another senior striker will determine if we get Champions League or not.

They take us as mugs.

Um, Chelsea are my team.

The day rival fans chant "your hobby is f**king sh*t" at each other is never going to happen.

Update from Ben Jacob’s. Club clearly briefing the media:

“Chelsea are not considering Enzo Maresca's future even if they miss out on #UCL. There is no formal review of his position scheduled this summer.

Chelsea's plan has always been to judge Maresca in years, with summer 2026 the first planned 'review'. This was decided when Maresca joined.

Maresca, the owners and sporting directors are always in dialogue about the season and will discuss it during the summer as well. Chelsea also view the Club World Cup as a continuation of this campaign. A strong run in the inaugural tournament is a key goal and there is up to $125m on offer for the winner.

Mauricio Pochettino did have a pre-planned first season review, specifically relating to his position, but this was down to his two-year contract reaching the halfway stage at the end of his first season. In contrast, Maresca is on a five-year deal with a club option of a further 12 months.

Chelsea also believe injuries have played a big part in the drop off since the festive period, and still believe key metrics, such as xG and big chances created are in their favour.”

Or maybe people watch the actual games and not just relying on graphs/tables to make their opinions for them?

If they're watching our games and concluding players have improved this season then football isn't for them.

Did you read the explanation? How many parts can you tick? To cover it with some deeper than life meaning is up to you.

If you really think so why not leave? Why are you watching this already dead horse rotting away?

Simple bizarre thing to say to someone. Chelsea is ingrained in my life like a family member and suggesting someone can just 'leave' says a lot about you TBH.

Well they could have continued on the path we were on, I agree. That was one way to go forward. They decided Chelsea needs to change something and they did it.

I don't think we are any worse as a club from where I stand. We are going forward with the development plan on the stadium albeit it taking years. Roman couldn't do that.

Cobham is still a good academy.

Women team still wins.

We are at this moment 2-3 teams behind in the Prem where we were before Roman sold us.

But this a new era. It will take time to put the pieces back together in a new way.

Did you read his post? He said all that. Point your query towards him.

He said the club is soulless, which it is now.

You then suggested he leave? Suggesting such a comment seems to show you don't really understand having a club ingrained into you from birth. You can't just leave your club lol

Nothing can better sum up how inept our owners (and their sporting directors) are than them saying they don't intend to review a key employee's performance for two years ...

And they talk about the impact of injuries when we have had our best season injury wise for years ffs !!!

Can we sue The Raine Group for dumping these halfwits onto our club ?
