What other striker do we have? Guiu has potential but he's injured and Nkunku has looked awful every time he's played, both under Maresca and Poch.

Shocked we didn't go for Osimhen when he was available in the summer

The problem is that Maresca just went like for like changes. Instead of coming up with a different plan, he just shoved somebody else in Jackson's positions and asked the team to play the same way. Nkunku, Neto, even Felix when he was here, they're not strikers, so Maresca needed to change something up to give them some help. He never did though, he never moves away from his rubbish system.

Well I wonder what Maresca learned this time...

This is the problem right here. Nothing, absolutely nothing which is why he has to go. If he was a young manager, learning , improving etc etc and we got CL and won the conference I’d say ok the way he’s learning next year will be better but it won’t. It will be the same over and over and side ways and backwards. He can’t even see that the moments of ‘controlled possession’ we have are when the opposition lets us have it.

Our best players played out of position, absolutely nothing done in preparation regarding our opponents. It’s poor. No it’s complete arseholes.

Next season will probably be much worse, because we won't have the cushion that we built up in the first half of this season when the players were still freestyling. We'll have a full season like the second half of this one ...

That made me laugh 😂

Tbh If we upgrade on Jackson and Sanchez whilst throwing Santos into the mix, I fail to see how we can be worse despite Maresca’s rigidness/inexperience.

It’s just 2 very glaring issues. It’s like trying to box with one hand behind your back and on a laxative where you don’t know when, not if, you’ll sh*t yourself. That’s what Jackson and Sanchez are.

Honestly though, that's our level. If we somehow do end up in the CL, then we are going to get spanked every week. Not sure if my heart can take that. We are just a mediocre team capable of competing only against other mediocre teams.

The issue is that we desperately need CL revenue next season. Failing to qualify would have devastating effects on the squad as we'd have to sell our better players to make up the loss.

We could have relied on Nkunku for the last remaining games but no, he’s mentally checked out becuase of Maresca’s pisspoor man management.

I don’t think he is injured.

We purchased Nkunku because he is a world class 2nd striker in a transitional system. So much so, that despite 2 seasons of either injury, poor form and mismanagement - bayern still reportedly want him.

We should have built the team around him, and palmer - playing in a manner that suits them both.

That was definitely the plan when he first arrived. But then he spent most of last season injured, and Poch instead had to go for a system that favored Jackson. Nkunku hasn't convinced since returning from injury.

And yet Bayern Munich still want him....

No Plan B and his Plan A is pedestrian and predictable.

Quite easily the worst football we’ve played since AVB.

Absolutely no positives to build off, any manager worth their job has had his number and the squad looks more dysfunctional than ever, our SD’s have recruited for fast counter attacking football and we have a manager who is hellbent on maintaining possession as opposed to attacking in any sense.

They also signed Kompany as manager and Eric Dier at CB, wouldn't read too much into that. Nkunku is sh*te in a serious league, like Werner and Kai.

Please call Werner and Kai by their correct names.

As much as I hate Maresca, coming 5th would be an improvement on last season and he will deserve another season.

The league has gotten worse, much worse. It’s not an improvement.

Look at the football we play. It’s dire. Could you seriously put up with another 38 matches (plus whatever European competition we sh*thouse ourselves into) of that?

We’ve got talent such as Estevao (The second coming of Christ) and Paez coming in, we’re bound to sign a Striker or two (Gyokeres & Delap please) should we really be wasting all that attacking potential on a man with a phobia of entertainment?

I don't think the League table position should settle that. I think the improvement has to be shown on the entire team and individual players. No player to me is worse under him. Some players won't fit in his system but that is normal when you always decide to get a new coach. It takes a couple of transfer windows to reach the point where the squad is fitting to the needs. This alone is a reason I like him to get another season.

We know Petrovic is coming to goal which hopefully improves that, we are looking for a striker and hopefully find a good one. A couple of young exciting players join in in Santos and Estevao.

Two more signings and he should have a good basis to do well

If you are judging solely on league position then almost any other manager in the league would have got 4th or 5th by now.
