100% agreed and it’s a completely different team to the one he played with. He was pretty much our only creative attacker that time. Now we are absolutely stacked with creativity, it really could bring the best out of him.

I genuinely believe there is a world class player in him, he’s just never had the right club. He really messed it up for himself by joining Atletico Madrid, there really wasn’t a worse club he could have joined.

Deal has Mendes’ grubby fingers all over it. I don’t believe we ever had Neto or Felix as targets at the beginning of the window but were approached by Mendes. Wasn’t there something about Eghbali handling the Neto deal? Makes no sense when we have a couple of SDs. If I was to make a guess Mendes offered Neto the club, told them to kill the Samu deal and is now pushing Joao Felix as an alternative.

I normally agree with you Petre but not in this case. João Felix would be a bloody awful signing. Talented for sure but the laziest motherf**ker I've ever seen on a football pitch. Absolutely would not work in Maresca's system which requires huge work rate from every player, especially the attackers.

Horrible player.

The whole thing is nonsense if we really wanted a player in this position why did we not buy Olmo when he was available on the cheap?  He’s 3 times the player Felix is.  I’ll tell you why we have no need for this type of player, we have more than enough already.  It’s just a financial admin signing.

Aren’t part owned players against premier league rules?  Wasn’t that what all the kerfuffle was about the Tevez Mascherano signings.

Co-ownership is illegal, yes.

Can only be that we think we can get Osimhen, hence no need for another backup striker as Guiu has done pretty well in preseason. Question is where would Felix fit into our lineup? He’s not an out and out winger and we’ve bought Neto for that role out wide.

My guess is that Felix is a no.10 which is where Nkunku is best suited to play. So he’s being bought to rotate with Nkunku? Seems that Carney is being sacrificed as that was his position and the Carney fee is going to bring Felix in.

Why aren't there other clubs fighting for Connors signature.. 🤔

Other clubs did ask for him but from the PL, even willing to pay more but he and/or owners didn't want him to go to another Premier league club.

How do you buy 50% of a player, buying the better foot? Just signed Neto, how are we going to fit Felix in the system on top of what we already got. Neto and Felix aren't going to come here as squad players, unless Enzo is a top man manager, he's going to have ( already have) hard tasks in hand to keep everyone content.

City manage it. They have world class talent all over their squad. They have great players that they can rotate in and out of the squad and have a really good bench at the same time. Look at our bench last season, it was mostly kids. This season is also going to be a really long one with the Club World Cup, everybody is going to get plenty of time on the pitch.

My Maths is a bit fuzzy, so even if Porto pay the next 2 installments, it still doesn't add up to 100% by the look of it. Is this even legal, any future transfer needs to be negotiated with 2 selling clubs instead of one? Anyway, sounds like we got away with one, or is he the next real deal now he's 50% sold to another club?

More than double that, they wanted from us. . .Samu preferred the new Andre villas Boas project to our project

I thought we were the new Villas Boas project. Or the old project reincarnated,  I'm not sure which

Co-ownership isn't legal in the PL. Used to be very common here in Italy but now banned.

We should be buying bits and pieces of players. Goalkeepers? We should only really be paying for their hands. Maybe our new project should be making AVB our next sporting director and/or president? A project within our project.

Dodged an absolute bullet here, one of the best moves the SD’s made all summer was pulling out this deal for a BTec Lukaku

Up until 2015 FIFA allowed third party ownership.Such arrangements were banned in the PL way before that date Remember Tevez at WHU)

FIFA have total jurisdiction the rules regarding the status of players are clear and save image rights I am at a loss to understand how the rules fit with the numbers stated.

I wonder if someone is bing a bit ironic or should I say mischief making.

As a total aside it now seems that it was Chelsea that pulled out of the deal as  a serious ankle issue was uncovered during the medical

The Tevez saga was third-party ownership, the player owned by a third party, other than a football club. From memory he was an agent's property. This scenario is different. Seems to be a case of co-ownership between two clubs. Illegal in the PL, not sure about Spain and Portugal.

Apparently they only bought half of him… the rest they can buy in installments!

Wtf...very weird.

80% in 2026 for €25 mil, and a 100m release clause!

They have a lot of faith in this guy and a 20% sell on clause for the home club!

All adds up to why football clubs have fk loads of accountants. That's just for 1 player!
