Say what they bloody like can't they!

To me City have watched what Ben White's (dark arts) been able to get away with and decided to have a try themselves...

image.png.7aedc2e6c75b455d336912cfb3567418.png

He's backing into the keeper and putting him off...

image.png.4aa149fed79be23a302bc97f580e6773.png

Next thing he's crouching down on the floor..

At no time is Silva anywhere near the ball...

My conclusion - he's there, just like Ben White is for Arsenal, to impede or put the goalie off and give his team an (IMHO) unfair advantage.

How long will it be before we have every team in the EPL doing something similar?

Pretty much every team is doing it. Personally, I'm not a fan of allowing players to lean into the keeper. I know it's a contact sport, but the keeper is in a very different position than another defender. There really isn't much a goalkeeper can do to a player that is leaning into him. If he forced his way through, he risks giving away penalty, which I think it unfair. Contact with the keeper is fine, but I think leaning into him is a clear case of obstruction. I don't understand why the obstruction rule has been phased out of the game, I think this is a perfect case of why the rule is needed.

ok we agree to disagree, can i ask your opinion on Salibas sending off, martin keown made himself look a mug on talksport this morning, he said that Howard Webb played a big part in it, because sky showed Webb in the stand with an ear piece attached to a phone and he was communicating with VAR, Martin Oneill told him he was being stupid, he then said that it was the same as Tosin in the Liverpool game, i thought the difference was Colwill was near enough to get the ball

Yup, agree with you... but not a big difference between the two challenges - probably why I thought Salibas was unlucky to get sent off - but with no one else around they took the view he'd pulled him down to prevent him having a chance at goal - argue it both ways!

Always been an utter tosser. First as a player and then as an Arsenal spokesman on the BBC.

just watched REF WATCH on sky, Dermot Gallagher said that Tosin was only a yellow as the ball was going towards the corner and Colwill was close enough, Saliba was a red as the ball was going towards goal, Raya ran back to his goal and White wouldnt have got to the forward...

he then went on to comment on Keowns wild accusation that Webb got involved in Salibas sending off, Sky showed Webb with an earpiece in BUT it was pointed out that he could only listern to what was being said and that he was talking to the person next to him, i expect Keown to make an apology on air (but i wont hold my breath)

Let me guess. Refwatch made no mention of the penalty we didn't get for the foul on Sancho. Am I right?

they did, sue smith said it was a clear penalty, Gallagher said no as did Stephen Warnock

No posts about last nights CL?

Saw Real Madrid were 2-0 down with half an hour to go. Went and had a shower, made a cup of tea and then see they are 5-2 up!

Ancelotti's Real Madrid man - just never write them off.

Villa going very well ... 3 wins and no goals conceded. A rare outing for Maatsen last night as well. Played well, mainly attacking with Pau Torres filling in behind him,

Also a jammy 1-0 win for Arsenal courtesy of an own goal ... can't see them winning anything this year. Calafiori injured again apparently

Arsenal have a great 1-11, but they lose a couple of their top players and they aren't that great, Keown (him again) says they will beat Liverpool sunday...he needs a reality check, NO Saliba or Odegaard, could be without Saka, Calafiori and Timber, they are struggling for goals and are up against the best defence in the league

Arteta's terrorism is going to once again lead to a season without trophies. There is nothing i enjoy more than seeing them go barren season after season.

Sadly for them playing 7 defenders in front of your GK then cross and inshallah from Saka won't work against teams that are happy to sit back.

Funny thing is, theres an argument to be made that this could be their last chance with this group to make something stick, particularly with Liverpool coming back and, say it quietly, Chelsea looking like we may need to be taken seriously in the coming years.

Im a big believer that teams get used to losing and the longer it goes that this group doesn't get over the line for Arteta, there is going to be mental blocks that impede them in the future.

Its hilarious that they have become all that they hated, Arteta has them set up to play defensively with long balls trying to break the line., with an emphasis on scoring from set pieces. So basically Stoke,

against Bournemouth they started the game with 9 players who were OVER 6 FOOT, only Sterling and Trossard were under, i dont know how we will cope from corners if they do the same to us

Arteta has obviously been reading the Mourinho book of coaching. Think that is Chapter 3: Fill side with big physical specimens............

Arsenal’s undoing will be Arteta trying to be too smart and thinking he’s outsmarting the rest of the league.

Defensive tactics, set pieces, hiring pickpockets etc…

He must have skipped past chapter 1 and 2.

Chapter 1: be charismatic

Chapter 2: win something of importance

It is quite staggering that a man with such natural good looks can be so unappealing.

Remember when José started? He was an arrogant w**ker but he won all the time and every housewife in Britain wanted to sit on his face.

And plenty of househusband.
