Chelsea vs Crystal Palace (PL) Sun 1st September 24 13:30 GMT

Featured Replies

The performance is fine. Better in 1st half, worse in 2nd.

We limit palace to almost nothing (it help that our opp have only Eze and mateta, not sure kamada is even an attacker, more like a kicker 😂😂).

Offensively once again it was fine. Good counter attack, madueke n Jackson should have scored but this is same old same old.

It looks like gusto has hamstring injury. James, Lavia, gusto same list of injured player as last season.

Well maybe you can explain this then.

As a Brighton supporter I am amazed how you all are happy with this appointment. Good luck and hope it works out but you are taking a mighty big chance. So surprised a club like Chelsea have not gone for someone who has experience right at top of game. Potter has done well for us a side that thinks its a great achievement...

I think we are still weak in the middle of the park both offensively and even more so defensively.  I might be old school but I just don’t see the desire and tenacity for the midfield to win us games.  Every team we’ve played this year so far has gone through our midfield with ease putting immediate pressure on the back four or whatever we have at the back under this system. I’m seeing lazy half hearted tackles by sticking the odd leg out, especially from Enzo, and although he’s trying and winning the odd tackle, generally bad positioning by Caicedo.  Going forward we are just not creative enough. Apart from a break away, under general playing conditions this sideways backwards sh*t from defenders and midfielders is boring as f**k even when there is no pressure on the ball from the opposition.

Most of this team now have been playing together for a season but you wouldn’t think it at times, poor passing, poor positioning makes you wonder.  Individually talented they may be, a team we are not.  And why the fcuk would the club extend Jackson’s contract to 2033, what f**king planet is this ownership on.  What have we spent ..a billion?  On this sh*t, with no centre forward or dominant centre back or goalkeeper…. Palace less talented, new manager, played like a team… we haven’t done that in years

When palace were attacking the often had two or three players unmarked just out side the box, I don't understand why our players aren't there with them, how can we be so unorganised?

I noticed that as well.

A couple of stills - the goal, and the other good chance they had that was a shot straight at Sanchez.

Would have guessed that he is a Stoke fan?

That's the type of play Sam Allardyce was famed for - "winning the 2nd ball". It was poor from us.

Allardyce aside, the CFC midfield always built around fight and desire, even going back to my days of Hollins and co..through to the likes of Lampard,Ballack,Essien et al….it seems that while the game changed to be more technical it’s gone soft in midfield thereby removing the need for strength and tenacity

Defensive transition is going to take ages for this lot to learn.

It's really bad, like we don't have a defensive system in place at all. Off the ball, we always look vulnerable. We basically need our attackers to play like they did against Wolves every game because of this.

Finally got around to watching this.

the referee was atrocious… IF VAR exists to get things right should’ve been a few differences.

aside from that, these players need to know they are Chelsea. We don’t get much favourable refereeing so got to make their own luck out there and take their chances when they come up.

palmer needs to be our 10 at all times, and my god could we really use a guy like Gallagher

Yup we could do, he was the difference a few times against Palace over the last 2 seasons.

Gallagher was underrated.

Every team needs a disrupter. In a squad of 25, if you have a couple of versatile players then a disrupter is easily accommodated. We have more than that when it comes to versatility and I think the decision to get rid of Gallagher is/will bite us in the arse.

Unfortunately, here we are...hope lavia can get back soon and caicedo can take up the role properly. Right now I think caicedo is being asked to do too much on his own with very little help from little Enzo.

It's more that the midfield is disrupted by Maresca's penchant for rotating positions in game. As has been pointed out several times, Enzo was left alone in midfield -v- 3 Palace midfielders.

I don't think that's the final game plan though and it will take time to learn his intricate tactics, well I really hope so at least. A tactical coach should be able to see and correct a big hole in midfield. 🤞

Back in the day some local Chelsea fans would go to watch Fulham this is when most fans didn't travel away in big numbers. Yet this weapon is claiming he's an ST holder at the Bridge which costs a small fortune travels from Brighton which is not cheap and still spends more money watching Brighton 😂.Apart from it being absolute Jackson Pollocks who could afford that and who would go and watch two premier league teams if he said he also followed Worthing or a lower league club then maybe but this is just fantasy the bloke is not playing with a full deck.

  • 2 weeks later...

I know it's kind of forced but Fofana CCB and Colwill LCB has thrown off the balance in the build up.

I know it's a risk with his form but Fofana-Colwill-Badiashille would have been a better balance if we're inverting Cucu.
