September 8, 20241 yr Thought I would start this as I like a few hits that never seems to get followed up with similar success, I guess you may have a few too. My initial offering is this and I love the female vocalist.

September 8, 20241 yr A One Hit Wonder from 1972. ‘Amazing Grace’ by The Pipes and Drums of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. Think it was at No 1 for five weeks!😀 Edited September 8, 20241 yr by erskblue

Soap your mouth Perhaps we need a thread definition of what constitutes a "hit" because those 3 additional Billy Paul tracks you've mentioned peaked at 30, 26 and 33 in the UK charts LOL. Having said that, even Me & Mrs Jones only reached #12 in this country so if we are going on UK charts alone, then Billy Paul was effectively a no hit wonder 🙂 Edited September 9, 20241 yr by Sexyfootball
September 9, 20241 yr From 1973. As far as I can recall this was a one hit wonder. The tune was used in an advert for Oranjeeboom beer.

We were talking about this tune on Sunday. We went out to lunch with my sister and her husband and this tune was played by the organist at their we’d on 23 /3/974. The tune itself was indeed called Eye Level played by the Simon Park Orchestra if you ever get the chance to watch them you tube do so because it actually is not a bad piece. ITV remade Van Der Valk recently and not terrible but in the day the original attracted huge viewing figures

I've never thought a "one-hit wonder" needed necessarily to have reached No 1. Maybe top 5, whatever. Bottom line: success they enjoyed neither before nor since.
