May 21May 21 I would play Danny Welbeck ahead of Nicolas Jackson. I would play Dominic Calvert Lewin ahead of Jackson. I would play Dominic Solanke ahead of Jackson. I would play Callum Wilson ahead of Jackson. I would play Richarlison ahead of Jackson. But atm I don't think I would play Delap ahead of Jackson. Though it is still close.

May 21May 21 He broke Djed Spence's jaw with that elbow the other day. Delap was lucky not to get sent off. The bloke is a moron. Edited May 21May 21 by Scott Harris

People complained about Jackson but even though he gets sent off he also gets you some goals and assists. This guys is just all negative and zero positives
May 21May 21 The staggering thing is that we will demand and get what we paid for him at the very least.
June 9Jun 9 What a contribution. f**king moron:https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/jun/08/djed-spence-england-world-cup-broken-jaw
June 9Jun 9 I must be the only one on here who couldnt give a toss about a spurs player getting a broken jaw from one of our own players. Spence isnt going to win us the world cup and is lucky to be in the squad given Spurs were relegation fodder and shipping goals all season. He's a shocking defender.
June 15Jun 15 Newcastle, Tottenham and Everton all interested apparently. Any offers close to what we paid for him and we should ship him straight out, easily the worst striker i've ever seen play for this club. Barely resembles a footballer.

June 23Jun 23 I'm gutted about Delap, i really did have high hopes for him as a 'Drogba' style striker... How f**king wrong can one be.. He's been utterly useless and always a card waiting to happen, get ris ASAP..

Can't believe I mentioned Delap and Alan Shearer in the same sentence shortly after we signed him!

June 24Jun 24 I will stand by Mr Delap just because we're an absolute circus, we had a manager who is physically repulsed by strikers in Maresca and coached shooting out of players. I cant stress how delighted that he is now at City, I htink he's had a torrid time with us, but I still like him as a player and if he stays then gets my full support tbh. Why? Because he's one of the easier ones to move on from this squad. This is the issue and why delap's alright by me, there are far more pressing issues with players we REALLY need to move on in Lavia, Fernandez, Badeshielle Garnacho, Gittens, Neto, Desasi, Tosin, Fofana, UKR drug mule, all of our goalkeepers, (Baba Rahman, Winston bogard, (jokes))Delap might be bad, but he hasnt dissapointed me like the players listed above.
June 24Jun 24 Pedro scores 20 goals under a manager who is physically repulsed by strikers = Not good enoughDelap plays like a striker not fit for League Two under manager who is physically repulsed by strikers = Keep he didn't disappoint me. Edited June 24Jun 24 by Sconnie Blue

Lets hope he continues to improve. ;-)When I look at a player like Delap, I see a different type of striker. Yeah? A classic big man, not as big as Jan Koller, not as effective as a Klose or Vieri, but a target man. The Premier league is littered with players like Big dunc, Mateta, etc, We bought one from Arsenal in Giroud. Over the years, these players have been invaluable to their clubs and provide a different avenue of attack, ie going long or whipping in crosses or bypassing midfield. that's where I see Delap mate... And these type of players usually get better as they age. that's why I have no issues keeping and nurturing a plan b for us. Even with the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian, we needed Giroud to provide a platform. Before him it was Drogba, remember Jose signing him as a pensioner because of what he gave us in the box etc.. Delap will have an absolute fine Premier League career, be it with another club or us. He also hasnt agitated for a move away. Edited June 24Jun 24 by bluelightening
June 24Jun 24 I've been used to disappointment in life ever since a teenage party when my date turned out to have her bra stuffed with tissue paper. Delap is just the latest example LOL

He also hasnt agitated for a move away. The problem with this analysis is that you think Delap has potential to reach Giroud levels. He doesn't, because even from an early age, Giroud was well ahead of Delap. Better touch, movement, link up play, intelligence, all of this was miles better than Delap who can barely control a football and thinks smashing into players is the same as placing your body between the defender and ball. His finishing is also awful, he just strikers it hard. No finesse, basically no different than what you will find with kids playing in a park. Zero football intelligence. He has no business playing at this level of the game.
