Unrelated to what's going on in the thread but I have to admit that I have reached a point where the mere mention of a player under the age of 23 turns my stomach. I now automatically assume that every young player is crap. It's wrong, but I can't help it.

It's these players BlueCo aim to generate the most revenue from.

They generate the most profit (in real and accounting terms) from academy players. Most of our 'investments' in this category have come back from book or meagre real profit.

The club bought Satpaev for £3, and after a couple of years when his book value is effectively zero and he's had a couple of good loan spells, they'll sell him for a £40m+ profit.

I still remember Contes comment on Spurs signing Jed Spence, its an investment, talk to the board type thing. No different here. Even if he sells for 15 million, its an astute bit of business. Up to the player to become a striker worth money.

I agree on the principle, but in reality few of them work out. We've had more Angelo/Casadei/Washigton/Fofana/Paez cases than Santos or potentially Satpaev. These are all potential profits in accounting/PSR terms but not in real terms.

A strong academy is far more profitable for less effort, especially given we already had the infrastructure. Even if Neil Bath's position was untenable due to the legal matters, there were others who could have taken the reins.

Thought he could do a job this season tbh, looked a better player already than any of Jackson, Delap or that bloke from Strasbourg.

Wouldn’t have been averse to him getting the back up role ahead of Welbeck either.

Hopefully a full season of men’s football in a more physically competitive league does him the world of good.

Bit of a strange move. On one hand you would expect Burnley to be competitive and be aiming to come straight back up, but you look at their team and they are stacked with options in the final third. Apparently Hull were interested, and look very short on forward options. Wonder if the thought of him spending more time defending than affecting the game played a part in not going for the PL option.

Think he would have been better off getting sold to Strasbourg with a buyback clause, since they look like they might be selling both Enciso & Moreira, and don’t even have a No 9 with Panichelli injured.

This was said of Guiu, what we witnessed was a horror show of missing tap-in open goals.

Needs to learn how to play against professionals and see where we are in 12/18/24 months' time. Will hopefully become a good championship level player and we can ship on for 10/15 million like we did with Broja.

I was hoping he'd get a move to the championship to be honest, very competitive league and gets him up to speed on the English game. That said, as someone else mentioned Burnley do have quite a few options up front already.

I'd have been happier with Wolves tbh. I think a Championship club at the top end of the table helps with positivity and also means plenty of goals. A foil for, and possibly working alongside a solid pro like Jimenez could have been a good educational season for him.
