Nice drive from Antwi to set up the 2nd goal.

That was a satisfying watch. Leverkusen aren't what they were under Alonso after losing Frimpong and Wirtz, and it was a friendly, but still, we dominated that game. It felt like we were playing against a League 1 side in the League Cup.

Totally agree. One of the biggest highlights for me was Essugo. Unit already, quality player and looks like we can use Caicedo without knocking his bo**ocks out because this lad is a carbon copy.

Getting very excited now. Regardless of the personnel we played with intention and clear patterns. We also look very solid defensively and again, regardless of personnel, pressed with a plan.

Its because Joao Pedro made it known he was leaving. So they benched him and he got into an altercation with a teammate due to it.

It is only pre season but we were impressive considering so many new players and changes. We continued to be fluid.

The new players all showed why they’ve been brought in. Esteveao will get the plaudits, Essugo though fitted into the Caicedo role comfortably

I’ve always loved a winger, be it Cooke, Nevin, Robben, Duff, …we again now have an abundance of top quality wing players…we don’t need Garnacho!

For a first game, I’m hopeful of good showing this year. Maresca gets credit in we look a good coached side now.

Brighton fans say it’s nothing to do with Pedro, it’s just that their current attacking pair have more chemistry.

Pedro brilliant as a lone ST is something no one expected.

I feel weird. I enjoyed watching our games in the CWC and I enjoyed that tonight. It’s a nice feeling, but unusual. I’ve become used to being irritated, disappointed or furious after watching us play.

I feel a bit for Tyrique but you can see he needs a loan of playing week in week out, in order to man up. Same for Anselmino but the rest look good to go for me.

Also that was possession football to a ridiculous level but it wasn't boring, stagnant, stale. Thoroughly enjoyable watch.

It's been years since I've gone into a new season with the confidence that I feel now. Hope and optimism, sure, but not confidence.

This young team has also gained a taste for trophies.

That’s my hope that despite losing Colwill we’re now a much better defensive unit and other defenders can slot in without too much of a downgrade.

I still think it's too soon, but winning the title would be so satisfying, just to see the look on Carragher's face.
