He was also wiser to BlueCos ways than nearly everyone else seeing as he had worked closely with them for 18 months.Neither him nor his family will need to work a day in their life now should they choose not to either. I don’t think his managerial career is ruined either, he’s done enough in France/Championship to get another shot at that level.

We should be strolling 70 points in a season with this group of players.I agree in your first line. Regarding the rest, I just don't agree that we have a team of top players. As shown with Maresca, a better coach than LR, can't get much out of this group of players. Poch didn't either, and he was a better coach than Maresca. Look at the bench, it's full of bang average players and some youngsters that can't play two consecutive games without breaking up. We need a proper spine and, overall, a couple of GKs, two CBs and trust Acheampong, we need a RFB that can reliably cover for James' absences, midfield we are fine, we need to rest Caicedo a bit more but Lavia and Essugo seem to spend a lot of time in the injury room. Don't get me talking about the wings, dreadful except for Palmer, who seems to be played more centrally nowadays anyway, and Estevao, who is too young to be played every week (as he gets niggling injuries). And the only reliable CF is Pedro, and we've got no reliable sub to rest him. The whole team is so unbalanced and average that it's going to take a while to correct it, and that if the board sells up and we can move on to being run as a football Club again.
April 22Apr 22 Although we say this every bad season there has to be a clear out and a complete rethink about the manager and the strategy of the plan. Rosenior has to go, whether it be after the semi-final, certainly if we lose which is more or less a given from what we’ve seen over the last few weeks; a loss on Sunday won’t change anything as any football in Europe is a distant memory as teams behind us push us to mid table. While he isn’t the root cause he has simply lost the dressing room, if he didn’t before the game last night he certainly did afterwards with his comments. Whether they deserved it or not (I’m sure most did) that’s not done in public in front of millions. He basically committed suicide with the players and then threatened not to play them on Sunday. Do you honestly think any of them are going to make an effort now ….not a hope in Hell. Liam took a giant leap forward but it was way too big and bad timing for everyone.IMO the first team squad needs to be decimated along with the SDs, coaches and fitness teams. Sell Sanchez,Gusto,Forfana, Chalobah, Tosin, Cucurella, Latvia, Neto, Garnacho, Delap, Jorgensen,Guiu, Disasi,George, Adarabioyo,Badiashile,Washington,…..and anybody else on loan or isn’t going to make the first team squad including Jackson,or really isn’t going to help their career being sent out on loan.Blue co aren’t going to leave anytime soon unless they are forced to sell, so I think that is pie in the sky thinking. Egbahli is the problem, at least Boehly has some knowledge and experience but he’s a minority shareholder. I think if he could find investors to buy Egbahli out things might look different…..but I’m not holding my breath.

April 22Apr 22 He needed to be sacked this morning. A new manager bounce is needed to lift the team for the SF at the weekend. He should never have taken the job. Young managers always let ambition/ego get the better of them. They can't seem to turn these opportunities down.

April 22Apr 22 I am sure with a family football pedigree he is agreeing terms to leave as we speak. Surely someone (his agent, his father) is saying to him "Come on mate, walk away, restart again elsewhere for the sake of your career"I am not banking on winning another game this season with or without him sad to say, agree with our players being bang average and those who are up to playing for this club are just not performing for various reasons. I hope he manages to rebuild his career and learn from this.

April 22Apr 22 The seasons a complete right off. Not even worth beating Leeds (Miracle) to be humiliated in the final. Sacking Rosenior is inevitable but we still have the same sporting directors picking the next manager. They need to be sacked, before we even think about a new manager. The owners who arent going anywhere can redeem this slightly by hiring new sporting directors and have a fresh start with a 'qualified' manager. Do I think this will happen? About the same chance as us qualifying for the Champions League.

Because f*ck the owners. They’ve messed about far too many people by now, I’ve lost count. Sarr, Anselmino, Guiu, there’s several more. They need to stop treating people as property.

April 22Apr 22 Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol speaking on SSFC: "I think it's touch and go, whether he remains as the Chelsea head coach. "I thought it was interesting after the game last night that he seemed to suggest that he would be picking the team for the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds on Sunday, because he made a point of saying, I'm going to make sure I pick players who are going to represent the club in the proper way. "But I'm pretty sure this morning, at Chelsea's training ground, the senior executives there will be discussing what happened last night and what they need to do next. "Because make no mistake, this is just about as bad as it gets for Chelsea."I know Liam Rosenior said last night that he was shocked by the performance and it was unacceptable, but my own personal feeling is that performances have been unacceptable for quite a long time. "If you go back to the start of February, I think Chelsea have won two league games in almost three months, and this is the business end of the season. "This is the time when they should have been pushing, well, in normal circumstances, they will be pushing to win the title, but they should at least have been pushing to finish second, third, fourth, as it is, I think before the next round of games, there's a good chance they could be in the bottom half of the table."People are talking about them getting into Europe, for what it's worth, I think you could make a case that it'd be quite embarrassing for them to be playing in the Europa Conference League. "No disrespect to that competition. They played in it last season, and they won it. But the way the club is set up, and the finances at the club mean that they have to be in the Champions League."And the club have always, well, they haven't said it, but the sort of information coming out of the club has been that even if we don't make the Champions League, we are sticking with Liam Rosenior. Personally, I don't see how that's possible anymore." Edited April 22Apr 22 by OTL
April 22Apr 22 Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol speaking on SSFC: "Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart. They're at every game. They were at the game last night. Behdad Egbhali, the co-owner who effectively runs the club, was at the game last night."They go in the dressing room after every game to speak to the players, to speak to the head coach as well. "They are in charge of the strategy. They are in charge of running the club and this morning and over the next few days, they have a big decision to make, because they have to decide whether to stick with Liam Rosenior or whether to replace him."Because how much of a risk would it be if they finish in mid-table and they stick to this line that we are going to back him? "He needs a full preseason with the players. He's going to be involved in the recruitment of players this summer. "Do they really stick with him at a time when managers like Oliver, Glasner, Andoni Iraola is leaving Bournemouth - they are going to be available. "Because if you speak to Chelsea supporters, and if you listened to them last night, they weren't just singing songs criticising the owners. "They were also, for the first time, turning on Liam Rosenior as well. And I thought in his interview after the game, he turned on the players. "What will the players think when they listen to that interview? And once you do that, once you say those kinds of things about your players in public, is there a way back for you?"
April 22Apr 22 Depressing when you realize their contingency plan is either O’Neil or McFarland. Hence why there’s no point sacking him now. Looking forward to seeing what unqualified d**khead is in the dugout Matchday one next season.

This has been an ongoing issue with our subs bench even under Maresca. Either the managers aren’t bold enough to make the call, or the SDs are calling the shots. You look at Utd bench, and Malacia is the only defender on the bench. Carrick started 19yr old Heaven, stuck 2 midfielders from the U21s , and a winger from their U21s on the bench. We currently have our U18s and U21s dominating their respective youth leagues. He could have dropped a defender and a DM, and added 2 creative players from our youth team. It just seems we are more interested in keeping player values up than winning games.Great post

How many people are courageous enough to turn down an internal promotion when knowing that to say no effectively marks your card. He would have been sold a plan and strategy where in his own mind he would have believed that there would have been time to develop and grow into the role with support from below and above. In reality those below are quick to turn and those above are feckless idiots, feathering their own nests.I have no sympathy for his current predicament, he wears big boy pants, knows the rules of engagement and as others have said will make a financial killing out of this experience. I do, however, have some sympathy with the inevitability of him being drawn down the plug hole by has paymasters, when he was quiet happy and, i understand, well liked, in his role in France having succeeded such noted luminaries as Patrick Viera.
