Shambolic CFC - How many of current squad are worth keeping?

Featured Replies

After that dreadful performance against Everton, you could easily go on to every player topic on this forum and have a rant so it’s easier to do it under one new topic. None of the starting 11 merited more than a 4/10 and many proving that they’re just nowhere near good enough. So we've done it a few times in the past and I think it must be time to do it again - starting with the 11 who played on Saturday:

Sanchez. Guy has proved time and again what a complete clown he is. Get Rid.

Gusto. What is the point of Gusto? You see him in the starting 11 and think, here we go again – another game of nothingness. Sees more of the ball than anyone yet creates less than anyone. Complete waste of space. Get Rid.

Fofana. These days seems to have as many mistakes in him as Badiashile and Disasi and is a lazy f**ker with it. Get Rid.

Hato. Not as bad as some but that’s not saying much. Would keep and hope for an improvement.

Cucurella. His levels have clearly slipped, but that could be down to who he has to play with the constant changes at the back. Keep.

Lavia. I like Lavia but he’s clearly rusty and not 100% fit. Hope he get’s over the injury issues as he could be a great asset. Keep.

Caicedo. Form has nosedived somewhat and he could really do with some time on the bench. Keep.

Enzo. Just not a PL player. Another 90 minutes of bang averageness – on Gusto levels. Get Rid.

Neto. Was he sulking as he had to play left? Hardly involved and another waste of space. Get Rid.

Palmer. I never criticise Palmer ‘cos he is clearly head & shoulders above the rest of them. But he too looked disinterested Saturday. Also has started going down way too easily when hardly touched which I hate to see. Needs better players around him and let’s hope he gets over the groin issue and we see him back to his best.

Pedro. Had a purple patch but has now reverted to a very frustrating player who also doesn’t look up for a scrap. Quality on his day but has to do it more often.

Garnacho. Ridiculous signing. One that our SD’s clearly got a hard-on over when no supporter thought he was worth signing and so he has proved. Get Rid.

Santos. Decent player but another who has regressed a bit. Maybe not surprising when he gets rotated so often when he sees Enzo playing nearly every minute of every game.

Delap. I had hopes for Delap but oh dear. Currently looks like a Championship level player if that.

Tosin. Along with Badiashile & Disasi, combined three of the worst centre back signings we’ve made and there have been many. Get Rid.

Estevao. At last, a positive. A wide man that actually looks to take defenders on and make something happen. Play him every game until the end of the season.

Sarr and Essugo – keep as squad players.

Acheampong. FFS WHY is this lad not getting more minutes? I really hope they are not playing him because they are looking to sell, when he is one of the few defenders we have that is worth keeping.  Play him every game until the end of the season.

Add James, Colwill and Chalobah to the Keep list (although Chalobah more of a squad option than starting every week).

Rosenoir. I was happy to see the back of Maresca – couldn’t stand the bloke and his boring brand of football. But LR was clearly not the man to bring in. Young and totally inexperienced and now cutting a sad figure on the touchline.

It’s crazy after all the money spent, that we have such a poor and unbalanced squad with many of that squad needing to make way if we have any aspirations of challenging for honours.  But I have little hope that our Board will (A), make the desired changes to the squad or (B) bring in a coach who isn’t a yes-man, so unless something extraordinary happens I can’t see anything changing and that means we really are in for a very bleak period in our club’s history.

Funny I was just watching this on YT and flicked over to the Forum!

It’s going to be easier/shorter to list who I’d actually keep so…

James, Sarr, Acheampong, Chalobah, Cucurella, Hato, Caicedo, Santos, Lavia, Palmer, Estevao, JP, Derry.

That’s it. Not even enough to make a full matchday squad.

We won’t get rid of anywhere near what we need due to the contracts they are on and how bad the players have been. This will take a few seasons to fix and even at that we will struggle to get European football in that time.

Recruitment has been awful, managerial appointments a mess and at board level we are a basket case.

In short we are entering a very bleak period as a football club

It's got to the point where I actually don't like many of the players at the Club. And I don't feel any attachment to any of them, really. Based on pure footballing capacity, and not necessarily as first teamers:

Keep: James, Cucu, Colwill, Sarr, Acheampong, Chalobah, Caicedo, Santos, Lavia, Palmer, Estevao, Derry and Guiu (send on loan).

Goal Keepers

Get rid of all of them

Defenders

Keep: Cucurella, Colwill, James, Hato, Josh, Sarr
Get rid: The rest

Midfielders

Keep: Caicedo, Santos, Lavia (I guess), Palmer
Get rid: The rest

Attackers
Keep: Pedro, Estevao
Get rid: The rest

Does only leave us with a squad of 12 players, but what can you do.

Palmer, Estevao and Caicedo the only ones I actually care about. That is it.

Said it during the Potter and Poch era. This is a collective group of footballers I genuinely hate watching play football, and dislike as a collective. The faces of Sterling, Disasi, Badiashile, Tosin, Fofana, Sanchez, Gusto and Enzo infuriates me.

Keep Acheampong, Reece, Trev, Colwill, Sarr, Hato, Caicedo, Santos, Lavia, Estevao, Palmer, J.Pedro

Promote Jesse Derry and Mhueka

Sell the rest

Keep Neto and keep him in a 1 man bomb squad, except his daily training sessions are just him watching videos of him breaking down our attacks.

Sell Garnacho? Which winger will you have in your name next? Not had much luck with them so far.

Keep Neto & Garnacho... attack rapidly from within our own half "Willian Style"

Neto in a foot race with almost any defender is spiteful ( no cutting back allowed) and Garnacho will be the most advanced player in space awaiting the cross and tap in.

Get rid to who?

Almost every fan has listed the same group of players to keep and there’s not many of them.

Surely the boardroom sees what we see.

The problem is so does any potential buying club. And there’s not many of them about either.

Then you have the problem of attracting quality players with probably no CL and only the prospect of for filling that lifetime dream to play for LR to offer.

It’s gonna be tough to sort out this mess but a decent manager would surely get a better tune than this straight away.

definitely, KDH is a prime example of how we dont get the best out of players. Anonymous for us, but on Saturday just gone he almost ran the show singlehanded, our management style stifles so many players. I suspect Reece James and Cole Palmer would benefit from some normality.

The KDH example has made me have a rethink on almost all of our players, its the buffoons in the coaching staff medical staff and SD group thats spoiling things.

Players we should get rid of (currently in the first team):

Jorgensen, Sanchez, Tosin, Fofana, Badiashile, Neto, Garnacho, Delap, along with either one or both of Slonina and Sharman-Lowe.

Those are imo the lost causes.

We should try to keep hold of Palmer, Caicedo and Cucurella, although I feel like this won't happen and at least on of them will be gone this summer.

If a massive rebuild is required because of players wanting out and financial restraints, I'd like us to keep hold of Estevao, Pedro and Santos to form a little Brazilian core.

Personally, I only care about keeping Reece, Josh and Trev.

Neto and Garanacho can stay as squad players. Enzo has to absolutely go. He has such a vital position where if effective can transform this team and help us win many games but he is not that. If he was even a Bruno Fernandes for us, we would be locked in for top 4.

If we stick with Rosenior or whichever puppet BlueCo switch him with, the only ones that the club can keep are either those on new contract (new wages with massive incentives) and those like Tosin, Badiashile etc that nobody's interested in.

We're skint so the ones with high resale value will be sold to make way for the new U-21s.

Caicedo probably goes next season if we don't do anything worthwhile (CL, trophies etc.). Palmer probably pulls a Mount. Estevao will regress.

Goalies to sell - Sell them all

Defenders to keep - James, Cucurella, Sarr, Colwill, Acheampong

Defenders to sell - Fofana, Badiashile, Disasi, Chalobah, Gusto (not against keeping him though)

Midfielders to keep - All of them to be honest, our strongest position if everyone's fit

Attackers to keep - Palmer, Estevao, Joao Pedro and I don't know why but I wanna see Delap for another season, but I wouldn't cry if he was sold for a good price.

Attackers to sell - Neto, Garnacho, Gittens

Largely agree with this bar (ignoring players who don't really feature much and ignoring the obvious point that we would never be able to clear out this many in one window)

  1. I would keep Hato

  2. Sell Enzo

  3. Sell Mudryk

  4. Sell Delap

I agree with most of this too. I would probably keep or loan Gittens. We've also got to consider the players currently out on loan. From what I understand, Penders has promise but is not yet ready. Maybe as a backup keeper? Anselmino might be worth a look. I imagine Jackson will be sold and the rest either moved on or re-loaned.

James, Caicedo, Palmer, Estevao, Colwill and Pedro, they are the only ones I wouldn't want to lose, but even James worries me. We desperately need to change our style of football and how much running we do, but I don't even think James can play in that kind of team anymore.

I would keep Lavia, Santos, Chalobah, Acheampong and Cucurella for squad depth, but that's it. If the rest were sold, you could find a ton of players that are better.

Ah I missed out Hato and Mudryk. I'd keep them both.
