August 25, 20169 yr The remy transfer being on loan really annoys me. Everyone just loans our players and we never make them cough up the money to buy. Then we get taken to the cleaners for our players.

August 25, 20169 yr We got £18mil for Sarah recently and even got a fiver and a Freddo bar for Marko Marin so it's not all bad We have spent around £40 odd million so far really then when you factor into it the players we have sold so far.
August 25, 20169 yr The remy transfer being on loan really annoys me. Everyone just loans our players and we never make them cough up the money to buy. Then we get taken to the cleaners for our players. If for example, Remy was valued by us at £5M, but no one wants to pay that for him. But he has two years on his contract in which the wages would total £6M. Then we would save £1M by loaning him those two seasons. You don't seriously think the club are getting taken to the cleaners and are poor with their money?
August 25, 20169 yr We have spent around £40 odd million so far really then when you factor into it the players we have sold so far. Actually if we take into account Ramires deal, the net spend is even less.
August 25, 20169 yr Actually if we take into account Ramires deal, the net spend is even less. Yeah actually forgot all about that. With that plus the record income from sponsorships and TV money we must have a fair wedge packed away. Although we need to remember some of that will no doubt be going towards the new stadium, can't expect Roman to front everything especially when the industry he made his billions in is going through some trying times.
August 25, 20169 yr Yeah but all that nett spend gets you is Arsenal... That's obviously the long term worry but hopefully we will find a happy medium in that regard. 3 or 4 top quality players and we have a wonderful squad but it's trying to get those players in. I personally think we have left it too late again and we will probably need to wait till January to see what's on offer then.
August 25, 20169 yr Which is notoriously the worst time to pick up players...there's still time to get some quality faces in but it's a sellers market and with EPL money you might just well bend over and grab the edge of the desk...
August 25, 20169 yr I doubt whether we will sign any new players in this window because there is not enough time for clubs to find replacements now. You have man utd to thank for overspending on average players.

It was a typo I meant taking to the cleaners when we try and buy players, apologies for the confusion. And we 100% do and are poor with our money a lot of the time when we're buying IMO.
August 25, 20169 yr We have to come to terms with the fact we are in a transitional period, we aren't the big spender club anymore, we are second tier in that aspect, emaniol maybe cut it when we had funds and the draw but now people are worried we will become Arsenal...well why not concentrate on scouting? Why do Athleti consistently have top players? What's wrong with aiming to be like Athleti but a richer version, it doesn't mean because we are not UTD we have to be Arsenal, but for this to happen our scouts, director and youth policy has to change, we are hanging on to being a big spending club without the might to back it up and havn't changed the infrastructure to be anything else.

Funny because we know Wenger doesn't get rodded like that yet you would think that would be right up his alley (euphemism intended).
August 25, 20169 yr With each day passing by, I'm inclined to believe we won't be able to sign a starting defender. I have no doubt we will suffer as the result, probably the difference between finishing in the too 4 and 6. Apart from the usual suspects to blame, it's really disappointing we spent so much money on the so called upcoming players, yet how many of them even made into the 25 men squad? Our best young defender is on a 2 years loan in Germany, when this is the perfect opportunity for him to lock down a spot this season

We always seem to be in a transitional period, i have heard this said about every Chelsea squad since Ancelotti's second season with us. The only time it wasn't said was when we won the title 2 season's ago. When exactly are we supposed to be out of this transitional period?
August 26, 20169 yr Talk of Atsu going to Newcastle on loan and also Bamfordinho loan to Burnley being announced today...
August 26, 20169 yr I keep getting an ominous feeling that we won't sign anybody else. The squad is threadbare and the first team lacks quality.
August 26, 20169 yr Looks like Arsenal have got their CB...Mustafi on his way to London for his medical...

August 26, 20169 yr Looks like Inter are wading into the Cuadrado deal...offering a season long loan and a compulsory £21m buy...seems better than the Juve deal...
August 26, 20169 yr Is this mustaffi any good, it's almost become a secondary consideration now over arsenal actually signing someone. Valencias defence last season was appalling wasn't it? Edited August 26, 20169 yr by dkw
