Swiss fullback Ricardo Rodriguez is pushing to quit VfL Wolfsburg for Chelsea.

Wolfsburg chief Klas Allofs is desperate not to lose the left-back, but BILD says the Switzerland international is keen to leave for London.

Chelsea hope to do business for around €20 million.

Allofs is reluctant to keep hold of a player who wants to leave, but any deal is likely to run to the end of the transfer window.

    Ricardo Rodriguez is looking more and more realistic. According to Swiss newspaper Blick he is on the verge of signing for us. Apparently we may also get Swiss full back Lichsteiner if we do a deal with Juve over Cuadrado.

    If Rodriguez was genuine about wanting to move here the deal would be done already, can't help but feel he's still keeping his options open.

    I agree. Certainly all these rumours need to be taken with caution. We can hope though...

    Must be worth a look if he plays for Genk... they seem to have a growing reputation for producing top players over the last few years? (Tibo, De Bruyne, Koulibaly). Perhaps Jon Stakes can tell us something about him?

    The goal was actually voted goal of the season in Belgium, if Nigerian media didn't get anything wrong.

    If he is bought it will be interesting to find in what capacity he will play. Actually started as a CB, was converted at Genk to a CM, but always has played lots as a RB. He was converted because he liked to wander forward and his passing range was way above average for a defender. He could turn into a powerful CM in the mold of Matic in his prime. His market value has soared in the past 2 years after stellar displays for Genk. Probably one of the hottest Nigerian properties at the moment. Voted behind Tielemans (BTW what is he stll doing at Anderlecht?) and Bailey as the best youngster in Belgium.

     

    I'm not entirely sure why would be interested in purchasing him as a DM, given he's probably about as good as Chalobah and has a similar playing style. Maybe as a RB?

    Top defender and can also play as a defensive midfielder. Scored great goals for Genk in the league last season.
