January 6, 201214 yr If Liverpool do buy Darren Bent for that much.....wow. That would be amazing. To this day, I have no idea why Villa were so desperate to get him. The slide of that club under Houllier was just alarming. If Kenny Dogleish actually spent his money wisely (other than obviously Suarez) they would be much higher up the table. It pains me to say it but he's getting some average players overperform in general. Look at their side, look at ours, then look at the league table. They are not that far behind, yet they only have a few players you might consider for our 1st team. The 2nd worst thing RA did was let Steve Clarke go.
January 6, 201214 yr Can I just say that Kuyt would be a good buy despite his age. He is a class act, works his backside off, just the player who pops up to get a goal in the 90th minute that's gets you a point. Can play as a link striker (which we don't have), out and out front man and wide player. Saaladin we don't have any worker bees in that area of the pitch. Mentality is key for us, absolutely key, and Kuyt has one of the best in football.
January 7, 201214 yr The fail says Demba Ba has a 10,000,000 pound clause in his contract Worth the risk (if true) in my opinion.
January 7, 201214 yr Hard to say with Ba. Carroll had similar numbers with Newcastle and he has done poorly. Perhaps it is something in the way they play, that gets strikers quality numbers?
January 7, 201214 yr Ba was pretty good with West Ham last season too though. If he's over his injury problems he's too good for Newcastle, but that's the risk.
January 7, 201214 yr Tony Pulis described Ba's knee injury as a "ticking bomb". The guy is no mug, so although Ba is currently the best there is in the Prem, is he likely to remain fit?? Probably not.

Enjoyed watching Dirk play for a good few years now - and was always the first name I looked for when we'd play Liverpool. For a Scouser, he's a consummate professional, isn't a wind up merchant like a lot of them. He is held in high regard for me - along with Ji Sung Park - in the often underrated, hard working and often overlooked Premier League category.

Probably not. Playing well at the moment but feel he could be one of those form players TBH. However with a £10m release clause wouldn't be too bad value. Your unlikely to get anyone else with simular goal scoring record at the same price.
January 16, 201214 yr http://www.mirrorfoo...icle854469.html Chelsea have had a £14 million offer for Fiorentina foward Stevan Jovetic rejected according to reports. The Italian club is believed to want closer to £20m for the talented Montenegro striker. AVB is weighing up making a new improved offer for the player Edited January 16, 201214 yr by abramovich

January 16, 201214 yr Jovetic natural talent very good playa. I've not heard of this guy before, is he any good? What player would you compare him to?

Mentality is key for us, absolutely key, and Kuyt has one of the best in football. We have had guys like him and yes, they perform well at times but when you want to win the CL this is not the player that is going to unlock a defense for you. Kuyt for me is not much different than Malouda. Physically strong, hard working, good shot, not too tricky, not too fast, not very creative passers.
January 16, 201214 yr I've not heard of this guy before, is he any good? What player would you compare him to? He is the kid that murdered scousers when they played against fiorentina in the CL a few years back. Hi is very creative, has got a great right foot and would fit right in at chelsea on the left wing, pushing mata in the center. The only downfall is that he is injury prone...
January 16, 201214 yr I've not heard of this guy before, is he any good? What player would you compare him to? yeah hes good, he can both play a cf and a supporting striker. not flashy or anything but smart in front of goal knows when to pass and when to shoot. but yeah, hes maybe even worse than pato when it comes to injuries
January 16, 201214 yr He is something like Pato mby i can compare them both.Pato is faster Jovetic is trickier. (my opinion) Edited January 16, 201214 yr by Rami
January 16, 201214 yr Kuyt is a donkey. Thats being nasty to donkeys. He`s basically a golden retriever, runs around loads but doesnt really do a lot.

Was gonna mention the injuries, hasnt he been out for quite some time? I think he was set for a move in the summer before he got a bad injury.
January 16, 201214 yr Was gonna mention the injuries, hasnt he been out for quite some time? I think he was set for a move in the summer before he got a bad injury. I thik he was out with a Essien-like knee injury but started playing a few months back and was as good as ever.
January 16, 201214 yr Jovetic is class and has I think 9 goals in 15 matches; tricky and with very good good technique. At 22, if the rumoured fee is £20m, I say snap of their hands. Also like the look of Gaitan from Benfica & James Rodriquez of Porto
January 16, 201214 yr Jovetic is probably one of the best players available right now that could still feature for us in the CL. I've liked his game a lot, and if the price is right he'd be worth taking a risk on. Hope he can stay healthy.
January 16, 201214 yr James is nowhere near ready and while I really like Gaitan,I'm a big fan of his, I don't really think he's the type of player Chelsea need right now. Maybe when Kalou and Malouda are gone, but until then I think a more traditional winger is needed.

I've liked his game a lot, and if the price is right he'd be worth taking a risk on. Hope he can stay healthy. Makes no sense to me that we are going after a striker. Our problem currently is that we have good strikers that we can't provide any service to. Chelsea needs to improve their signing strategies. We've missed out on players that could have really helped this team improve. Edited January 16, 201214 yr by Saaladin
