June 13, 201610 yr Hope this isn't true. The lads 5ft 9. Prefer a CB presence, imagine him up against Andy Carroll. Disagree. Lord Percy was short and he didn't struggle in the air. Same with Gallas. Very good player. One of the best young centre backs in Europe. Already played lots of games for Lyon and was in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season next to Thiago Silva. Crucially he is also left footed which is so important with us potentially playing a back three. Koulibaly might be prefered for his height but if De Laurentis does his usual thing, Umtiti would be an excellent replacement.

June 13, 201610 yr Umtiti would be a good signing. Has played with zouma through the youth ranks as well, so there is a good partnership to build on. He can also fill in at left back as well.
June 13, 201610 yr I want to hear from Jon Stakes before I draw any conclusions. Is he African? Because if not then he wont mention him. Apparently Barcelona are after him too.

June 13, 201610 yr If he can't get in front of Rami then that doesn't fill me with confidence. He's a terrible CB
June 13, 201610 yr ^ He's in the France squad for the Euros but he was born in Cameroon. Only a matter of time then....
June 13, 201610 yr Hope this isn't true. The lads 5ft 9. Prefer a CB presence, imagine him up against Andy Carroll. by the looks of it, we most likely will play with 3 at CB, so he would most likely play with Zouma (190cm) and Christensen (188cm) i'd say no problem
June 13, 201610 yr If he can't get in front of Rami then that doesn't fill me with confidence. He's a terrible CB Deschamps picked Rami as he is right footed. He is quoted as saying as much. Koscielny plays on the left side. Just on the height issue, I didn't mean to be dismissive of your concerns RIP Mou. I think it is better to be taller if possible. Certainly Carroll would look to mark up on him, but he minces JT in the air anyway. That said he has a reasonable percentage in the air. If you compare him with Koulibaly and Marquinhos as two other targets plus Luiz playing in the same league who has previously played for us, he compares quite well. http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#ligue_1/2015/2016/samuel_umtiti/167/167/1160/0/p|serie_a/2015/2016/kalidou_koulibaly/177/177/8768/0/p|ligue_1/2015/2016/david_luiz/167/167/448/0/p|ligue_1/2015/2016/marquinhos/167/167/3485/0/p#aerial_duels_won_%/aerial_duels_won#total
June 13, 201610 yr If he can't get in front of Rami then that doesn't fill me with confidence. He's a terrible CB Tbf mate you can't really base a players ability on that cause as we know managers have their favourites especially in International football. Look at England with Wilshere there are other players more deserving of a squad space.
June 13, 201610 yr I want to hear from Jon Stakes before I draw any conclusions. First off he's French and he's even featured for the full national team. Second off he's from the same generation of players as Paul Pogba. He's a starter for Lyon and a fast ball playing defender. Deceptively strong in the air despite his height and very composed for his age. The height issue makes me question whether he's an EPL type player, but overall very reliable, non-prone to errors defender, who knows what to do with the ball. Overall surprised he's a defender, always thought he would be better off as a DM, box-to-box midfielder or even left back.
June 13, 201610 yr If he can't get in front of Rami then that doesn't fill me with confidence. He's a terrible CB Its more a question of age. He hasn't featured much for the national team, so I can see why Deschamps may not want to jump the gun and play someone more experienced than him. In my opinion an obvious mistake. Plus Rami is right footed, unlike Umtiti. Edited June 13, 201610 yr by Jon Stakes
June 13, 201610 yr Interesting timing given his agent is the source. Barcelona are rumoured to be negotiating for him. Could be trying to drive up the wages in a deal.

June 13, 201610 yr I admit to not really having a clue about him before the Euros and only seen him in one game so far but that Milik that played for Poland looks a tidy player. I read in to him after the game and he scored 21 in 31 for I think it was Ajax, which is a pretty good return. Does anyone know much more about him? Still very young as well only 22, could be one of the guys who get a big move on the back of the tournament if he keeps it up!

If this rumour has some truth to it, and conte wants to play 3 at the back, I would imagine he wants those 3 to be Mobile so this lad would make a sensible signing. However we are not going to beat barca in a transfer battle.
June 13, 201610 yr Interesting comparing Milik to Morata who is playing now for Spain. Who is also playing exceptionally very well. Edited June 13, 201610 yr by Spiller86
June 13, 201610 yr Interesting comparing Milik to Morata who is playing now for Spain. Who is also playing exceptionally very well. Morata was poor for Spain today, he didn't do much at all and he kept going out wide. I seen enough of that from Torres.
June 13, 201610 yr Morata was poor for Spain today, he didn't do much at all and he kept going out wide. I seen enough of that from Torres. Didn't see him today but he's never really struck me as a top quality striker.
June 13, 201610 yr Didn't see him today but he's never really struck me as a top quality striker. It's like i said a few weeks back, i don't think he is worth anymore than £10m. We got Remy for cheaper and i think at his best he is better than Morata.
