I really think we should be targeting a few of the Arsenal players like Walcott, Ox & one of the CM's (As they are clearly overloaded in that department)-They are settled in London, experienced established players in the league & with a point to prove.

We are being linked with players with similar frailties (Over the hill and injury prone) from other leagues-I would much rather take a punt on one of those lads than someone who will have to acclimatize to a new environment & league etc.

 

I think Ox has huge potential & Walcott is only 27 so I certainly wouldn't mind investing in that calibre of players if we can't get the likes of Morata, Mkhtiaryan & Griezzman.

Forget Arsenal selling them, why on earth would we want to sign them kind of players. None of them are an upgrade on what we have or significantly better than our youth. Massive mistake even contemplating them.

So if José wasn't sacked, their is possibility that our first signing could have been Eric Baily for f**king 30m. Smalling is a better player but still I will be pissed if we spend that much on him too.

Worth nowhere near the amount I've seen mentioned. Fantastic player on his day but extremely inconsistent, seems to only care about performing in the CL.

Seems to be the case for all the players we're after this window, they're either overpriced or the clubs don't want to sell.

As far as centrebacks go we should be looking closer to home at Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in my view. Has all the same attributes as those we have been linked to (good in the air, solid tackler, passes well pays left CB) plus he has also played in England and speaks the language. We'd have to pay a bit for him but he seems a far more viable candidate than others. Southampton's POTY in his first season as well. We might also get that young English left back of theirs as well. ...

With the new premier league deal kicking in we'll be charged ridiculous prices as we've seen with Utd paying 30m for that CB (Bailly..?). Foreign teams know we have money to spend now and will be happy to pay 30m for a 15m player. We should start looking internally than wasting large sums on average players.

If Utd drop £30 mil on Bailly I can see us doing the same for Koulibaly. Quality defenders are in short supply and I'd be happy for us to go into the season with Koulibaly and JT as our CB pairing. Until Zouma is back that is.

I didn't watch Southampton too many times this season but pretty much every game i saw he was below average. And once or twice he was absolutely abused by the strikers he was supposed to keep quiet. No thanks.

He was also pretty average during his stint in Scotland.

Not once have I watched him since he left and though "That's a top class centre back".
