Don't be so quick to dismiss him.

If Conte wants him i'd be happy to have him.

He's had a very good season back on loan in Serie A and was an absolute soldier during Conte's reign at Juve, constantly forcing far more talented players out of the side.

God No! I will be sceptical about Conte's eye for talent if we end up signing some of the players we have been linked with. Lichtensteiner, Giaccherini, Asamoah, Candreva dont excite me. I know he will get the defensive side right, it is the attacking aspect & our over reliance on Hazard that I feel he needs to address.

I'd be taking all of this with a grain of salt.

Honestly I think we'll only start doing serious business after the Euros are over or when Italy are eliminated at the earliest.

I hope Conte has identified targets already though.

remember, Jose wanted Falcao here, and before also opted for Salah when Griezmann was available

just because they are world class manager doesn't mean they always get it right

Based on what?

A few reasons:

1. We finished 10th last season and have no CL football to offer.

2. We have a new manager who is focussing on the Euros. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for Conte but he's in France coaching Italy while other managers are no doubt meeting with agents/players etc.

3. The stadium upgrade will probably deter us from spending big in comparison to other top clubs. I can't see us paying overs for top talent that mainland Europe demand from English clubs. City and United don't give a sh*t if they get mugged for an extra few million but we definitely do.

4. Competition in the PL is stronger with Klopp at Liverpool, Mourinho at United, Pep at City and Arsene potentially on his last legs at the Gooners. They'll all be looking to strengthen their squads and all have very good managers. I reckon Conte has the smallest reputation of them all.

5. We're the least attractive we have been since the Roman era. Too much negative press last season, we're lacking stability, a lot of rumours of players wanting out, etc. Not sure why a top player would choose us over any of our rivals at the moment.

6. Our track record in the last few windows has been poor. We seem to be searching through the bargain bins hoping to find some wonder kid or be able to reinvigorate some washed up injury prone hack. It's just not going to happen.

And that's probably about it. Some of the names we're linked to are underwhelming at best. I hope we don't just look for players in the Serie A. We have a good history with Ligue 1 players yet I don't recall us being strongly linked to any of them.

On that reasoning i think we should write off 2016-17 already....

I really think more faith should be given , Conte is still at the Euros, so i hardly think we are going to start restructuring the team without our Numero Uno being there to overlook proceedings..

A few sources reporting we've agreed terms with Bonucci, 3 year deal at £130k per week, with a £25million pound price tag along with add ons agreed with Juve. Allegedly. What a f**king amazing signing this would be if true

Metro is only one I can see, what others have reported it? Metro are one of the worst out there sadly

Just on the new stadium deal, I remember reading that Roman was paying for it entirely out of his pocket.

Therefore, it shouldn't affect our transfer dealings as he doesn't really bank roll many/any of them any more?

If you Google "Leonardo Bonucci", select the news tab and click "view more sources" under the Metro link to the article, there are actually a few of them reporting it. They're all the usual suspects of unreliable rumours though (The Sun, Daily Fail, etc.) and often quote each other as their sources.

I would only take interest in it if it came from Amoyal, Di Marzio or any Sky Italia journalists, but even then if all of this were true, he's a contracted player so Juventus don't have to sell.

Where'd you read that? I was under the impression he was using a lot of the club's profits to fund it. Not sure why.

It was from a journalist close to the club, forgot the name

Edit It was Dan Levine

The Chelsea fancast podcast has him talking about it at the supporters trust general meeting in May

That's quite a list of flops.

Tbf to Emenalo and Granovskaia the 13 before that probably included Fabregas, Costa, Matic, Zouma and Willian though.

Begovic, Papy, Pedro, Kennedy, and Cuadrado aren't flops. I believe most of them weren't given enough game time or were just misused.

Give Man United those players last season and they will be competing in the Champions League this season.
