Great pictures.........I was there ! ....... for both games (1st one at Wembley & also the replay at Old trafford) I think the allocation was about 32,000 for each team and same for each game.

if my memory serves me right.....for the 1st game at Wembley.....if you wasnt a season ticket holder, which I wasn't as I was only 17 at the time ! ........we had to cut out the voucher number from each of the different Chelsea home programmes of that season, And attach the vouchers to a form and send it to the Chelsea box office, providing you sent the full set ( one for each home match programme ) , the club sent you the ticket in the post......( as I say that was for the 1st match at Wembley).

However, regarding the replay....at Old Trafford..........it was first come first served ( unless of course you were a season ticket holder!). .......I remember the tickets were being sold on the Sunday morning box office open at 10 am, the week before the replay date........so on the Saturday night before, my mate (Geoff Nutting ) and I ( both caught the train from where we lived at that time, Welling, South east London and joined the Queue about 10 pm that night ( it was wearing a sheepskin coat as it was cold !), we all in a long orderly line on the pavement outside the ground, stretching from the main gate (opposite the Rising Sun pub......which is now called the Butchers hook ) along with thousands of other Chelsea supporters.......( I understand the queue snaked all the way down past North end road ! ........12 hours waiting for the box office to open ! to buy our ticket, which also included an option to buy a train ticket, as the club had booked about 20 football specials !

Well worth it......What a great night at old Trafford ! Peter Osgood scored the best goal that I've ever seen, right in front of us, at the Stretford end.

Yeah I remember those tokens in the programme.  I didn't go - I was too young but my dad took my older brother to the final and my older sister to the replay.  I only discovered a couple of years back that he didn't have tickets to the replay but somehow got in - I think they drove up from London on his scooter too!  Difficult for me to believe really as he didn't really strike me as the sort of bloke who'd do that!  He never drove a car and only ever seemed to use his scooter for short journeys - not all the way to Manchester!

Paying respects to the dippers 1982

Love the copper in the Northstand pic standing at the back with his helmet in his hand (ooh missus) looks like he's not exactly keen to get involved. The Fulham game I had just started a new job and got the flu after standing on the open terrace with just a t-shirt on came to work a week later everyone thought I had left. Big crush before the game if I remember rightly. Grimsby was a bloody brilliant day.

Agree with you....still got mine unfortunately way way to small for me now lol in a suitcase in the loft with a few others

Can I have it if I lose a bit of weight?

Didn't the Fulham game have 2 hat tricks in it, Davies and Dixon? I remember their nice new shiny scoreboard ticking over as all our goals went in, bright green numbers?

The Liverpool game, I was at a few, 82 was the fa cup win....2-0? Missed the Grimsby game, the Renault 16TL broke down and couldn't afford to fix it

Love that pic of Dave Sexton standing on the windowsill with the cup.

Can just imagine the council H&S guys allowing that today

When I was in London on a bus I immediately recognized the town hall from memories of that picture.
