April 21, 201610 yr Was at Charlton away 82/83 and Alan simonsson had joined them. He had a sponsored Sierra with his signature down the side of the car. We lost 5-2 and his car was by the away end. It got scratched and dented and the ariel became a trophy for someone. I was 14 and thought it was funny, but it was being done by grown men with anger. Probably not a good idea to have your signature in 2-3 foot high letters on your car!!
April 22, 201610 yr a few more of when we had no history,,, a bonus point if any one can name the player signing for us,,,
April 23, 201610 yr More top pics cheers Ossie.I think the player signing is Eamon Bannon but it was the reminder of how sh*te we were under Danny Blanchflower that scared me !
April 23, 201610 yr Leeds at home 1984, 5-0 win and promotion!, if not its Barnsley at home 1984 last game, pretty sure Its Leeds though Edited April 23, 201610 yr by chi blue
April 23, 201610 yr What game was this? Sent via morse code. As above, pretty sure it's the Leeds 5-0 game. Great day, all went off when the Leeds coach parked down near the old gas works, the Lord Palmeston emptied as the lads went out to welcome them. I was in Gate 13, and at the end when the Leeds fans were smashing the scoreboard everyone piled in the pitch.
April 23, 201610 yr Eamonn Bannon was the player signed. From Hearts. He went on to play for Dundee United and I'm sure for Scotland in the 1986 World Cup!
April 23, 201610 yr Three Chelsea legends in Chopper Harris, Peter Bonetti and Peter Osgood. Fantastic picture, especially when you consider we have no history...
April 23, 201610 yr Its Leeds, after the Barnsley match their mob went home so the away end emptied, there weren't any horses on the pitch either, all good natured
April 24, 201610 yr The Shed looks packed in that game v Wolves. Think that is in 1976/77. Think it's 77/78 looks like diamonds on the sleeves! Sorry was my first kit!
April 24, 201610 yr Richard: You're right. The George Best playing for Fulham in 1976/77 shows the difference in our kits in those two seasons. We never had the umbro diamonds in 76/77.
April 24, 201610 yr George Best being one of the best players I ever saw play. Used to hope he was drunk when we played mancs etc.
April 24, 201610 yr Never got to see him in league action. Started coming 77/78. Was lucky to see him play for and Chelsea in several testimonials around that time.
April 25, 201610 yr George Best being one of the best players I ever saw play. Used to hope he was drunk when we played mancs etc. Remember him scoring against us around 1970, ran from the halfway line in the league cup. One of the greats.
April 25, 201610 yr Saw Best and Rodney Marsh when they were in the same Fulham team. Great players both. Also remember seeing Bobby Moore towards the end of his career there.
April 25, 201610 yr Saw Best and Rodney Marsh when they were in the same Fulham team. Great players both. Also remember seeing Bobby Moore towards the end of his career there. Same here.
April 25, 201610 yr Saw Best and Rodney Marsh when they were in the same Fulham team. Great players both. Also remember seeing Bobby Moore towards the end of his career there. It's funny I'm reading Bernard Sumner's autobiography and New Order did the music for this show. I have vague memories of it being on in London a Thursday night I think.
April 25, 201610 yr Yes I remember the same, especially watching George Best in a Fulham shirt, doing his ball tricks during the warm up before kick off, it was great entertainment, and I would compare that to watching Christiano Ronaldo these days. On that day, I also recall our own great legend.....unless u am mistaken...?! Am sure it was Peter Osgood playing at number 4 for us, when I think he had just returned to Chelsea from Southampton, and our manager at the time .... Whose name escapes me, moved Peter into a midfield position. I can't remember the date of the match, but it was a League match ( either div 1 or 2 ! ? ) ......Fulham V Chelsea at the cottage with George Best in the Fulham side and Peter Osgood in the Chelsea side. Can anyone on this forum, verify this and the date / result ? ........I can't, as too many beers since them have destroyed some of my memory cells ! Edited April 25, 201610 yr by Maidstone Blue
April 25, 201610 yr Sorry, I meant our other legend.......Chopper Harris ( not Ossie as he was at Southampton ) and the season was 1976 /77

Can anyone on this forum, verify this and the date / result ? ........I can't, as too many beers since them have destroyed some of my memory cells ! I remember us playing Fulham at Christmas in '76, when we had a bigger crowd than we've ever had since (I was there that day). Best, Moore and Marsh were all playing. Osgood didn't rejoin us till '78, when we were in Div 1 and Fulham weren't. So I can't see how Ossie could have played for us against Fulham with Best in the side.I think it was Blanchflower who played Ossie in defence for a couple of games, including an FA cup tie at Old Trafford We lost, as we did most games under Blanchflower.
April 25, 201610 yr First time I saw George Best at The Bridge, was a Weds evening game in 1970 or 71. Norman Burkenshaw was the Ref ( a no nonsense type). He sent George Best off, but we still lost 3-2!.
