No 88-89 we beat them at the Bridge I was at that game 2-0 I think. We beat them at the Goldstone a real rarity Beasant had a blinder we beat them 1-0.

Yes remember the 88/89 game, it was midweek a few days before we took about 10-15k to city away when we won 3-2 with that dorigo goal. Remember loads of pubs were told to stay shut in Brighton by Sussex police, after what had happened in 83, we were given the east terrace at the old Goldstone ground, but  weren't given any seats, me and some mates got tickets in the Brighton south stand which was behind the goal, when we scored there were loads of Chelsea up out their seats in the stand. "Chelsea here Chelsea there"

Some beauties there. Love the picture of Wisey and Ruud walking out for the Fa Cup Final. Kinda sums up the day in general. And what about Franco and that smile. What a beautiful, beautiful man.

Good and bad memories of Wimbledon. Remember us getting beaten up 2-4 at home to them In the 96-97 season, but then we got our revenge by knocking them clean out at Highbury in the Fa Cup Semi Final, 0-3 in the same season.

Did Wimbledon get a 50/50 ticket allocation for the Semi at Highbury?

I couldn't get one through Chelsea, made enquiries on Wimbledon's phone line- no joy. There were plenty of empty spaces which peeved me no end.

Note: the attendance was 32, 734.

What would have been capacity at the Library back then?

Footnote: according to Wikipedia, Highbury's capacity post Taylor Report was 38,419

I was there and disappointed as the Wimbledon fans were so quiet, of course winning 3-0 ensured we were happy.

I think you are right though trying to get my grey cells working in that there were a of empty spaces in the Wimbledon crowd and fans that couldn't get tickets.

Yes 50/50 allocation, remember tickets were sold on your voucher book number, a final 2k tickets were released and were on sale from 8am to personal calls, no virtual waiting room in those days, I left Chichester at 1:30am and drove up to the bridge, going along the A3 Kingston bypass I must set off about 3 speed cameras the flashing was like a disco as I speedies up there. I got to the bridge about 3am to be greeted by at least 50 blokes already queing some with crates of beer, around 4am some bird walked past on her own from a night out carrying a baseball bat!!!!!!! She was met with a chant of "Chelsea agro", they opened ticket office about 6am and tickets were purchased.

Another semi final was v Fulham when we had go to villa park and not Highbury as the Fulham chairman said Highbury was to small for the Fulham army!!!!!! So we had to trapes up to villa park to be greeted by the Fulham hordes their first semi final since 1975 and they only bought 11k they had about 8k unsold seats

On a footnote all those speed cameras I set off up the A3 I never ever got a letter.

Don’t think they sold 11k! I was in the top tier opposite witton  road stand and that was so empty.

A good interview with Peter Rhoades Brown in the Home and Away series on the official Chelsea site on Saturday. Can't manage to cut and paste it across. Sorry. Worth a read.

As long as you've got a football and your real mates, who cares where you are. Fantastic picture.

Funny story about the '67 final defeat to Tottenham. My old man decided to start following Chelsea that game, because, 1 he liked the colour of the kit, and, 2 Chelsea were losing 2-0 so he wanted them to come back. So Tottenham, thank you so much. It means the world to me you took a 2-0 lead that day.
