Obligatory youtube compilation set to inappropriate music.

I liked what I saw from him against us. Did he set the world on fire? No. But he was playing for Genk....against Chelsea. There's only so much he can do. He gets the ball near midfield, looks up, and bombs it into space for a forward to run onto. Nobody on our team currently does that, and with speed like Sturridge and Torres up front, I think that could be incredibally useful.

just look at those elasticos . . . id fly straight out of my chair if i saw him do that to a player in the premiership

im so bloody excited after watching that vid, cant wait to see him play for chelsea

Well there's a bit of a difference between them.

Lukaku isn't overly skillful and he generally used his strength and size, plus a bit of pace to do well in the Belgian league, which when coming up against tougher opponents isn't going to be enough.

Whereas someone like De Bruyne seems to rely more on skill, which could transfer better. Plus if you can hit a good shot or a good dead ball, it's not that important which league you're in. If you can smack the ball into the top corner from 25 yards, doesn't matter if you're Premier league or Sunday league, the keeper will have a hard time stopping it.

Whether you get the time to take that shot is another matter!

I hope he is awesome if he comes.

Not overly excited about it, I hope I'm proved wrong but can't see him being as good as the calibre of signings we used to make.

A young bean yes, who knows if he will develop as good as everyone anticipates

Young promising, attacking, flair, skill, can take a free kick, descent shot, all for 8mill. I don't see the problem with this signing at all

I have nothing against buying another young player with potential, but I'd rather we concentrated on getting someone who can make a difference now.

Experience tells us that quite a few of these talented youths will never make the grade at CFC so as much as I'm enjoying this news I'm very guarded in my optimism, keeping in mind our atrocious record in scouting and developing talented youngsters.

Wow, I usually don't care at all about the classic youtube video that can show everyone being world class. But according to this video, his shot control seems fantastic!! And he uses bot his feet a lot, and if he learns to use it the right way, he could be deadly!

I think we should make up our minds first. Sometimes we say we should unearth hidden gems like Spuds do so often. And when we do take a punt with a relative unknown, people start jumping up and down saying we must buy proven talent.

We're talking about loaning him straight back for the rest of the season so this is definitely not a signing thats going to make an immediate impact, he's not suppsoed to. I'd like us to buy someone who would help us this season as well as in the future but he clearly isnt that signing and if AVB wanted him back in his Porto days, like he did Romeu, then I have full faith in him and I believe KDB has something which AVB has spotted and we cant.

I dont think AVB has been hired to get in older established stars, i think one of his jobs is to build a new exciting team that will challenge for years to come.

I think it's important to remember we're building a squad here. Drogba and kalouda will be off in the summer. So I can't see it being kdb 'or' someone else, it'll be kdb 'and' others. He's clearly got potential, and if the club think we can get a better deal now than in summer we should get it done.

My only concern is, we're lacking creativity right now. And this isn't a right now kind of signing

Pfff...

Here in Belgium they are really happy with the transfer especially the genk supporters, they dont understood why we will get him.

After his injury he never came back on his best level,so his own support is very unhappy with him in the A-team at the moment.

(and this is belgium,to be a star in this league is easier than be a benchwarmer in the npower championship)

For me personally previous season I was hoping to dign him,but if I look back now....

He had a short period of good/excellent games till he get injuried. When he was back I followed him and believe me,even in our low level jupiler league he doesn't impessed me.

But it's Roman's money

A club as Chelsea has to buy the best of the best, even when they invest in young talents...

I think the same, but when will he start ?

Ok Oriol and Lukaku are good signings but in that case we need a lot of younger talents and for the first squad we needed real good talents!

I'm a little bit frustrated that chelsea is always after the B-rated talents. So I hope after a few year we don't get a massive relapse....

Bit worrying

The big question is who will we get to help us secure the top 4 ? I don't think getting Cahill only will cut it. Now we have quite a few under 20 year olds coming through, be interesting to see who (hopefully all) can make the first team next season.

Many players look good on youtube. Put together Kalou and Malouda's best plays and goals, turn it into compilation and show it to someone who never watched them before, they'd think they're a couple of world beaters.

Bit worrying

meh, benfica fans were saying the same things about luiz. even though hes been a liability in the not so distant past he is definitely improving and is surely among the top 5 cbs in the premiership
