Kevin De Bruyne

Featured Replies

We have signed him and loaned him back to Genk. Would he be ready come summer? I don't think so.

Why didn't we sign Hazard instead and loaned him to Lille till the end of the season.

Its all over the place that he is indeed having a medical, this could be happening today.

If we loan him back to Belguim thats just silly as he should be getting mixed in with the first team to see if he is actually any use.

I would like to be optimistic about this one, but it doesnt fill me with much joy or excitment.

Does he have pace at least? Our team certainly needs some

This is about as exciting as an episode of last of the summer wine. Sorry if that sounds "spoilt" but the fact he's not going to be playing just doesn't make sense.

I'm not sure I get this one either, especially if he's going to be loaned back to Belgium. I would think that we would just not make any more moves this window and wait until the summer.

It's another 8m down the drain on a player who has been no more successful than Miroslav Stoch or Gohkan Tore have been at a similar or perhaps even higher level.

It's another example of how the youth and transfer policies exist entirely apart from each other and it's a shambles. The accountants must simply tear their hair out when they see the amount of money we waste between the youth system and buying 18 year old players who never seem to actually make the first team.

It makes me laugh that people are dismissing him already. He may come here and take the league by storm for all we know. At least give him a chance to play for us before moaning.

I think that this is a good signing. But I can't figure why we'd loan him back unless it is an non-negotiable demand from Genk.

He's played plenty of first team games in Belgium and he's even played CL games. And most of all we need new players, especially wingers. He'd start at Swansea if I had my way!

I initially thought it made sense for him to stay on loan. But after enduring another malouda/meireles masterclass on sat, surely anyone with a bit of skill and enthusiasm would be an improvement?

He could well, but Stoch and Tore could have done so just as easily, matter of fact the numbers for both players are better, and they play in better leagues. They were youth products remember.

It's the lack of direction that bothers me, the contradiction between letting players of good quality leave because they can't get an opportunity and then buying a player of exactly the same age for 8m, who has neither superior numbers, nor, I can tell you from watching Tore extensively this season, superior ability.

Maybe he played bad in their fantasy league?

Its unbelievable isnt it. Such a pack of spoiled f**kers on here.

Written off before he even gets here, what a brilliant bunch of supporters we have.

I think he's a very good signing especially for the price. I've only seen him against us like many of us on here, he was easily their best player on the pitch even though they were pretty poor.

I don't really like the idea of loaning him back though, we could probably use him right now.

I dont worry about loaning him back. I would guess that Genk demanded it in the deal to give them time to find a replacement. Im sure we can cope without him, also it has been said that next season he will go on a season long loan so i wouldnt think we will see him play properly for Chelsea until the season after, not including pre season of course.

My fear for him tho is AVB didnt seem too thrilled the other day about him when asked about the deal, will he get a fair crack of the whip? Saying that will AVB still be employed by us next season or the season after?

Spoiled? Seriously dkw?

None of those points even remotely summarise my argument. I just don't see the point in signing a young player from Belgium (which we know from the relative successes of both Jovanovic and Lukaku is a very poor league) when we have had players in Tore and Stoch who have done better in better leagues who left because of a lack of opportunities.

It's the same old story, the youth are not good enough for Chelsea and are shipped off to somewhere else, where they light up the stage, and we continue to spend ourselves into a corner where we require a top four finish every year to make FFP. I'd like to see a youth and transfer policy that worked with some sort of cohesion.

De Bruyne isn't an AVB signing, so whose is he? De Visser, Emenalo, Roman? We apparently sign the best young talent available with no reference to whether they will fit in, or what impact that will have on players we've spent money on developing. Where is the incentive to improve if you know that the best prospects in the system ahead of you were sold off to pay for a guy of similar ability to come in, why come to Chelsea's youth system when you know, you're no chance of ever playing here?

There is no logic to it dkw. None. If having an issue with that makes me spoiled then I confess to the charges and await sentencing.

the problem i have with this signing is that were loaning him back till the summer and theres some talk hell be even loaned next season. not even our staff is counting on him in the next couple of season so what do u expect of the fans?

i like the lad and i think hes more than capable to make a contribution to this team and i honestly think hed do a better job than malouda but it seems hell just be loaned back and forth and eventually sold before even getting a chance at chelsea

They can't all be AVB signings, to me he's more worried about the now and we need to be signing players for the future as well.

"Kevin is a player that is club policy, he’s a player that is not within my immediate project, he’s a player that the club has scouted for quite some time – I’m a manager that respects club policies as well,” Villas-Boas stated.

Nevertheless, acknowledging De Bruyne as a bright prospect, he added: “The club has to respect the future, whether it be with this manager or the next manager. Kevin is an extremely interesting player.”

The above reads very badly in my book and p*ss poor man management from AVB ?? Hardly welcoming him with open arms is he . “interesting” what a limp languid non description , some of the window displays down Old Compton street are “interesting” but no chance I would purchase or go in to the shop ?

Bet the fella can’t wait to put a pen on the contract ............

Reading between the lines I think we had purchased an option to secure him a while back which is due to expire soon and had to pay up now .

I think he will do well for us .......

Some of the comments on here reek of rediculess.

Ok, what is obviuse about him is that right now neymar and the other guy that brazilblue keeps going on about are streets ahead of this guy, so far as we know... but actually we dont know that much. we know that the affor mentioned brazillians have the skills to pay the bills and actually i would be lying if i said i wouldnt love to see either one of them here.

But lets get in our virtual Tardis and go back in time. 2007 - 2008, two very distinct transfers, in 2007 bale was brought by spuds, a year later robinio by man city for 30+ million, and we where very much in for him as well. Additionly you go back 3 years further and we where heavily linked with robinio when he was still in brazil.... the rest as tey say rather annoyingly is history.

out of bale and robinio who is currently the more "skilfull player" robinio I would say, who's the better player for his club - bale by a country mile!!

Im not saying that this kid is going to be the next garath bale, but he's quick, two footed, seems to have a decent understanding of the fundamentls of the game and shows good technique when striking a ball. there is enough there to begin working with and who actually though garath bale would be the next garath bale, he only began to have an impact in 2009/10. thats two years after he jouned spuds.

I dont know if it will work out, but at least he has time on his side, i preffer this to wallaping a fat load of money on once great players well past there prime

Ok lets phrase is another way for the self righteous types on here.

Does it not concern you that we have struggled to beat fairly average teams & look like we have no cutting edge what so ever? Yes, it should do!

So, do we go out & spend money on players who can come in & compete, potentially cementing our 4th spot in the league? Yes, we should do!

Or are you happy that the club are investing in the future according to Emanalo, yet loaning these players out & relying on under performing players & average "Joes" like Meireles? NO, you shouldn't be!

Players who would secure 4th are already at decent clubs and those clubs probably dont want to let them go without finding a replacement which in January is pretty hard to do.

Also if we keep buying already made stars then 1. our wage bill will sky rocket, which is the not what the club are trying to do and 2. if we only sign these ready made players then there isnt much chance of finding the new Ronaldo or Messi. Now im not saying that we will find the new messi but if we dont take a chance then we will just have to keep paying over the odds for players.

Im not saying that this kid is going to be the next garath bale, but he's quick

Is he quick though??? Not saying he can't be a good player, but there's no way he's up there with young, nani, Velencia, bale, Adam johnson, walcott, holliet, downing etc. in terms of pace - which is what we so desperately need
