Homophobia, and being a general twat!

He liked stats far to much

Ah...it was that post. I use the site on my mobile and can't see ban status, likes, etc. I also can't use italics to make the 'that' above all slanty...

Just because someone is from Liverpool doesn't mean they are all d**ks. I'm a scouser born and bred.

But clearly WELL bred!

I don't like LFC but, fair play, the city itself is impressive and the people great. One of the most interesting places I've been to.

Haggus banned for using the word Homosexual...Torres banned becoz spurs crowd made a very loud noise and it frightened the ref

Tbh (and I should have said this sooner) I was surprised that the use of that word caused a ban. It was used as a term of abuse and when people are angry that's what they do but the word itself is not a term of abuse (i.e. there are much worse words about sexuality he could have used). Haggus could be a WUM but it feels like (if the use of that word was the cause of a ban) a ban was hooked conveniently onto the use of that word. The enforcement of too much 'sameness' of opinion will be as great a risk to the site as too much rowing.

Thanks Mike for the reminder about perspective.

He was banned because he kept saying things that ruffled feathers and not to do with football.

When your raising points about marriage, kids born out of wedlock and sexual preference on a forum about talking football you're just asking for the ban hammer in my opinion.

I was just working in my kitchen and mulling over how best to express what I felt about this.  Thank you, ForeverCarefree, for putting it better than I ever could.

There is always one or two exceptions, they do not make it easy on them selves though.

Still keep it under your hat till they end of season yous may be talk of the town once more.

He wasn't used for the words he used, he was banned for the context in which he used those words.

I'd say on the whole this is a very even minded board, but every now and then someone comes along who just doesn't get what the forum is about, that person tends to get banned fairly quickly.

Thanks for saying so. I don't support Liverpool or Everton which does get a fair few raised eyebrows around the city but my footballing preference, and anybody's footballing preference, has nothing to do with the place itself. Liverpool is actually a beautifully historic city with a great heritage.

Really? I thought Liverpool looked like a sh*thole tbh.

Not as bad as Tyneside though.

I haven't really been around much lately, I don't really know who haggis is and didn't ban the guy.

What I will say, that if a moderator has banned someone, it was for clear reasons to do so, and was no doubt prompted by people reporting certain posts. Sometimes, various things happen off of public topics that can warrant members given the push, so all may not be clear to other members.

What we don't need is members cross analysing why and what members were banned for. It makes what would be interesting reading go off on a tangent.

If a moderator has banned anyone, that is for a valid reason in their mind, and that should be enough for anyone to accept. Questioning why and what makes the person that banned them look small and makes yourself look a bit of a drama queen in doing so.

PS Liverpool is home to Cilla, therefore I love it too!

Getting back to the thread topic. I have a feeling that were gonna love it when the fellow himself gets back into the team..I for one will anyway.....I have this incling that hes gonna play his bollox off till seasons end..OH...and score goals too

Are you visiting the right parts?

There are some VERY bad areas of the city, like there are in every city. But then there are also really nice areas too, like Woolton, Calderstones Park, Grassendale, Aigburth, and Allerton. Then of course there is the Albert Dock and Chavasse Park. Lots of great restaurants, bars and museums.

But yeah, if you're talking about places like Tuebrook, Toxteth, West Derby and Stockbridge Village, they are s**tholes for the most part.

Doesn't reflect the whole city though, obviously.

backed him to be top scorer at 66/1

I'm missing Haggis already. I certainly didn't agree with all his views but I enjoyed the fact that no one was safe from his slings and arrows which I found refreshing and particularly pertinent when mirrored by the Spuds, in maintaining the y*d word, who so very righteously gave a thumb in the eye to the pissy FA and similarly odious Clarke Carlisle.

While I'm happy to accept a consensus that his previous posts might have merited a 'quiet word in the ear' or indeed a 'Yellow', I'm disappointed should Haggis' choice of 'homosexual' in relation to the Fernando/Vertonghen incident be deemed a straight Red. I was uncomfortable with the subsequent charge of 'homophobia' for did that not in itself, display an even greater degree of intolerance, albeit from a polar opposite start position.

Not for me, I prefer a world of 'speak as you find' and 'live and let live' as admirably demonstrated by...

"When asked if they wanted sex with me, 30% of women said "YES"

The remaining 70% said "What again?"

Silvio Berlusconi cements his popularity and my vote

He probably got done for a series of fouls more than that one tackle, if football metaphors are your thing.
