I'm missing Haggis already. I certainly didn't agree with all his views but I enjoyed the fact that no one was safe from his slings and arrows which I found refreshing and particularly pertinent when mirrored by the Spuds, in maintaining the y*d word, who so very righteously gave a thumb in the eye to the pissy FA and similarly odious Clarke Carlisle.

While I'm happy to accept a consensus that his previous posts might have merited a 'quiet word in the ear' or indeed a 'Yellow', I'm disappointed should Haggis' choice of 'homosexual' in relation to the Fernando/Vertonghen incident be deemed a straight Red. I was uncomfortable with the subsequent charge of 'homophobia' for did that not in itself, display an even greater degree of intolerance, albeit from a polar opposite start position.

Not for me, I prefer a world of 'speak as you find' and 'live and let live' as admirably demonstrated by...

"When asked if they wanted sex with me, 30% of women said "YES"

The remaining 70% said "What again?"

Silvio Berlusconi cements his popularity and my vote

Some sites have a 'Sin Bin' where posters are temporarily banned. It acts as a shot across the bows if a poster oversteps the mark.

I agree about the dangers of 'an intolerance of intolerance/difference'.

This might not be a helpful subject to return to but (and I don't think this is making a 'Drama' out of the issue) there's a risk of posters second guessing what they can or cannot say.

I would argue that knowing what is appropriate or inappropriate to say in public is one of the basic skills required to function in a civilised society; it's hardly rocket science but unfortunately not everybody possesses that skill.

That said, I think anybody referring to another race/religion/sexuality as a byword for bad (which by the way is why I think the FA are idiots for going after your lot for calling themselves y*ds, they're not using the word in a negative context) is fair game for the ban hammer, probably not all the time but when they have previous for being a trouble-making d**khead then honestly we're better off without them.

You've put the counter-argument well, fair play. It's an interesting debate but there appears to be a consensus about his banning at any rate.

I was with you all the way until "trouble-making d**khead" for not only is that a reasonable description for at least 3 of my sons, it also strengthens my alignment with SpudULike in the belief that tolerance of more disparate opinions stimulates discussion to the benefit of the forum, though clearly SpudULike makes the case more eloquently.

So, Torres!

I know he is out for three weeks with the injury but how quickly is he likely to regain match fitness after that to be available for selection?

Wouldn't of thought he would would lose much fitness as it's only a little injury so he will probably still be in the gym and light training. I reckon he could get a run out against cardiff maybe from the bench.

Be nice to have him back quickly, for me he's been one of our better players so far this season and having the competition in the forward places is vital.

All credit goes to our friend PloKoon on this one. He did it on another thread some time ago and I simply followed the steps.

theshedend.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=stats&do=who&t= Type that URL in and the thread's number at the end. In this case it's 21635.

Thanks, Teritus.  Sorry, I may well be being dense - I'm not good in the mornings!  But how do you find out what the thread's number is?

Ah, that's interesting.  It doesn't appear in mine!

Oh!  Wait - yes it does!  Thank you, Teritus!
