When I review this thread and the pages, I feel a kaleidoscope of emotions, ranging from gratitude to RDM, sadness at his departure, anger at how he was treated and absolute rage at the fact that he was replaced by a hate figure. 

 

A big FU to Roman for sacking RDM and appointing Benitez and also to his spineless lackeys for enabling him to act on yet another one of his childish impulses.

 

It's a dereliction of duty to the club they claim to represent, in all honesty. 

Has anyone seen or heard anything about RDM recently?

I hope he is sunning his nuts off in the bahamas or somewhere and not too stressed.

There hasn't been any late news with RDM. He's been rumoured to be lined up with a few new managerial jobs, but nothing has happened.

I do feel sorry for Robbie and even AVB. They were both given orders from above to play more exciting football and to move on the older players and yet they are both sacked when things turn a little south. YET FSW turns up and completely destroys our season and nothing is done.

Guess we need to thank Robbie for this too ..

Roman you f**king idiot.

It's been a year since that infamous day when the legendary Roberto Di Matteo was undeservingly sacked by our board. Robbie personifies what Chelsea stands for. He's loyal, tough, intelligent and most importantly he's a great and classy man who achieved the ultimate success for the club in a playing and coaching capacity.

 

Even though it's been a year I still think about the brilliant achievements that Robbie achieved for the club and I hope this man should never be forgotten by any true Chelsea supporter out there. 

 

Thank you for everything Robbie. You're magnificent goals in the 1997 and 2000 FA Cup Finals were memorable and you made the dreams of success come true for us in these two games. Your coaching achievements are amazing. The way you won the Champions League by coming back and defeating Napoli after being 3-1 down in the first leg was brilliant. The ease of beating Benfica allowed us the opportunity to take on the toughest opponent in the world in the semi-final in Barcelona. Our toughness and determination in Barcelona was one of the greatest ever performances I'd seen as a Chelsea supporter and a lot of the credit goes down to you. The Champions League Final was simply magnificent and we are indebted to you for allowing us to witness the joy of winning the Champions League.

 

Overall your tenacity, determination, classiness, intelligence and many admirable traits allowed us to be a successful club in a playing and coaching capacity. No supporter will ever forget you Robbie and you will be fondly remembered and deserved to be welcome back anytime at the club.

 

Thanks for the memories Robbie and you are a man who deserves to be held in the highest regard at this wonderful club by the board, players (past, present and future) and most importantly the members and supporters.

Was just watching and thinking the CL win dwarfs Istanbul as an achievement. We were down and out in January and beat Europes best on the way, not just turning round one game

Exactly! 3-1 down at the first leg in Naples, pretty much everyone was sure we had been eliminated. I wasn't on this forum during that time of the year but I wouldn't be surprised if a few people here had written us off and called for AVB's sacking.

The way we turned it around at Stamford Bridge was amazing. 3 goals from 3 players that we had relied on for years and years. As well as another massive goal in the Champion's League from Ivanovic following his brace against Liverpool away.

Victory over Benfica in Portugal had us pretty confident that we were heading for the semi finals. Javi Garcia left us biting our nails again but we saw it out.

Barcelona stood in our way of our CL once again. We defended outstandingly especially with Ashley Cole making a goal-line clearance like he did against Napoli. We somehow kept Barca out throughout the 90 minutes as well as converting our one and only chance.

Everything seemed lost in the 2nd leg when we were a man down and they had taken the lead. Even I thought there was no coming back from that. But we managed to conjure up an opportunity that I believe never would have been possible if it occurred at any other time of the game. Barcelona had just scored and they hadn't settled from taking the lead. The defensive line of Alves, Puyol and Mascerano were still far up the pitch allowing Ramires to bomb through and score the most vital of goals. Goal of the season in my opinion too. They kept coming at us and they never scored... Not even Messi could convert a golden chance from the spot. Maybe the fact that he'd never scored against us (And he never will) got to him.

And when Muller scored with 10 minutes left... that seemed to be it. To get so far again only to have it snatched from our grasp. We hadn't created much throughout the game. Kalou with a tame shot at the near post, Drogba with a half volley from 40 yards (he's capable). Torres somehow won a corner with Contento almost avoiding it at the expense of a throw. We had to score from this. It probably was our last chance. And he did. The only player on our team who was capable of a vital goal. The most important of goals with such a lack of chances. Just like he did against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. Didier Drogba won it for us. Albeit conceding two penalties in the last two Champion's League games he played for us. We couldn't have won it without him.

I'm turning this post into a Drogba tribute now.

But thanks Robbie for everything you did. Not only won the Champion's League but he made it an FA Cup double too.

Say what you want about avb, but for me his best signing was RDM. I was so excited when he was brought to the club as the #2. Then he became gaffer & the rest was history. I can go to my grave & say I saw Chelsea win the European Cup. I was so fortunate that my only trip to London, I got to see a CFC led by RDM. Many Thanks Robbie, you will never be forgotten!!!
