Great read on Josh

Featured Replies

To think people thought of carlo as a manager who wasn't a good with kids and didn't get give Josh enough of a go...

Good read, thanks,   really high hopes for him; amazed he is still a teenager great news for us.

Great comments on Ash as well as well as JT and Lamps .... excatly why these need new contracts

Good read. Got the sense that Josh's attitude is spot on. I'd love to see him make it here, but I think he could do with one more year on loan except in the Prem this time.

Oh give the kid a break...he is hardly going to slag a current coach and team-mate off...that would hardly help his chances of coming back and getting a chance

Already dreaming of a big move to Barca it seems too lol.

I don't think you can begrudge him for that. He's been a long term admirer of Iniesta and who wouldn't want to play for Barcelona?

Josh has not lived up to expectations.

He is is lacking in physique and needs to fill out and improve his tackling.

I did not expect Sigurdsson to turn out a success and that hurt Josh at Swansea.

If the club regarded Josh as a future star why did they sign Oscar?

Josh has a long way to go but time is on his side.

Josh is a central midfielder while Oscar is an attacking midfielder, so the signing of Oscar has nothing to do with Josh.

If we sign Fellaini, however chances for him and Chalobah to ever be a part of the first team decrease drastically. I doubt they have a shot against Ramires, Luiz, Fellaini, Mikel and Romeu, as they are all young and can still play for a long time...

Oh so now he's whoring himself out to Barcelona. Judas!!!! ;-)

"I went into the first team under Carlo and he was huge for me," he says. "He's the one who gave me all my chances. I was gutted when he left."

Me too Josh, me too.

I understand where you're coming from.

Oscar is used in midfield but is not the typical South American number 10.

RDM used him defensively against Juventus and he did an excellent job marking Pirlo.

I agree that if we sign Fellaini it diminishes Josh's chances of making the first eleven.

Honestly i don't think he'll ever make it into the first team, probably be a squad player for a while until he moves to a midtable squad.

Didn't appreciate the remark about Barca either.

With Lamps all bar gone for next season I would not be too unhappy to see our options for the 2 deep midfielders (if we keep playing 4-2-3-1) being Josh, Chalobah, Mikel, Oscar and Ramires. Yes Luiz could play there as well but I just expect him to end up back at CB at some point.

Romeu could use next season out on loan, playing week in and week out, to get over the serious injury he got this season.

You're forgetting de Bruyne as well.

A lot of our youngsters can make it into the first team, they just won't be given the chance.

Indeed, another option for us for those positions as well. It would see unlikely we could find room and game time for him, Josh and Chalobah at the same time but you never know. The next manager may want Ramires to be sold, or Mikel. The former has been poor this season and the latter does things well but not great, yet we seem to have settled for that over the years.

As things stand no one for me has done really well in those positions on a consistent basis this season.

Do you rate McEachran or Chalobah higher?

At the moment I rate them equally and see them in different positions. Nat as the deeper player (i.e. Mikel) and Josh the more creative player allowed to go further forward, in a 2 man or 3 man deeper midfield. Realistically unless we bring them in for the club trained players rule I expect both will be loaned out again next year, De Bruyne seems the more likely to get a place in the squad imo.
