Which is just right. This kid has no right to be making demands and calling out people. If he's good enough Jose will play him, if hes not he wont. This kid yacking off is going to do precious little in influencing Mourinho. If anything it might just make him lean on the sell side.

He has been fighting for his place by going out on loan and showing every one what a good goalkeeper he is.If he wasn't performing at Atletico we wouldn't even be having this discussion.If he isn't made number 1 here he will just ask for a transfer and with only having 2 years left we have to eventually sell most likely to Real Madrid.Him not being made no1 gk at Chelsea is not the be all and end all of his career,he will have plenty of top clubs willing to buy him

When i was watching Athletico Madrid vs Real Madrid in the cup the other day, Courtois was really poor. Ok, 2 of the goals he could do nothing about because they were deflected. But throughout the match he couldn't hold onto most of the shots hit at him, the saves he was making he was pushing them them back into the danger area and he flapped a few times at corners. He didn't exactly make me feel confident that he was the one to take over from Cech anytime soon. Obviously like everyone has said, keepers will make mistakes, but the amount of mistakes he made in that one game was a bit much.

 

It seems some are only interested in seeing the good saves Courtois makes and then only take notice of Cech when he makes a mistake even though Courtois is making many mistakes himself, they just haven't been highlighted as much.

 

That save Courtois made the other day is getting some very high praise.....................well that is just a routine save for Cech, i have seen him make a similar save to that countless times, same goes for other top goalkeepers. I think some are getting a bit carried away with some of the saves Courtois actually makes. Yes they are good saves, but every keeper makes good saves, they wouldn't be in goal if they didn't have quick reflexes.

Nail on the head.

Just because Cech doesn't specialise in 'weetabix action hero dives' (which are for the cameras most of the time), doesn't mean he's any less effective.

Cech has a decade of premier league experience (setting records left, right and centre) and is still young, fresh enough and more than capable for the job. Yes I know Courtois has done well in La Liga, thats great. We have a great keeper already.

People crowing for Courtois to be made number one right away make me feel a bit disgusted that they support the same team as me, as they clearly have little respect of sentiment for our greatest players and history makers.

Some people are talking as if Cech is turning up drunk and letting in 4 goals every match.

As usual the debate turns into a who can post the best youtube video of saves. Yes we know cech is brilliant and always has been we don't need a video to remind us. No one is saying cech has turned into complete sh*te. 

 

I still haven't had an answer to a question I posted a couple of days ago. What are we going to do in 3 or 4 years time when eventually cech will no longer be one of the best in europe? After selling courtois we are then going to have to go and splash the cash on a position we would have covered if we put some faith in courtois. Is that what people want?

What will we do in 3-4 years time when we need a new winger or midfielder or striker? Sign one. I can't see the logic in ditching a world class player because he might be past it four years from now and replacing him with someone else who might (or might not) end up being as good as him some day.  

I think the big thing for me is there are few top keepers. United look like they have only just replaced Schmeichel and Arsenal have struggled replacing Seamen. I love Cech as a keeper and think he is in the top 3 in the world but I think Courtois is top 5 around.

I don't want to see Cech go and if it were my heart deciding then Cech would win 1000 times out of 1000, but my head says Courtois simply for the long run young and class, keepers like him are rare.

Past 10 years there are IMO only a few keepers as good or as talented as Courtois. Cech, Casillas Neuer and arguably Hart De Gea and ter Stegen.

Letting a player of his age talent and potential go for 5 years more of a club legend when he could be here for 15 years and be a legend himself would be a huge mistake as much as it hurts to say.

It would be sentimental to sell courtois and keep cech in my opinion. Do you regularly watch courtois play because if you don't listen to the people that do. The argument about going out and signing another keeper like we would a striker or a defender doesn't stack up because we don't have a young striker who is already in the top 5 in the world like we do a keeper.

 

You can argue about if courtois will get to the level cech is at now but in my opinion he already is and he can only get better whereas cech can only get worse.

Only one thing Cech is poor at and that's his distribution and quickness and incisiveness of the release. No idea if Courtois is any better at this though.

I don't think that is true at all Kevin, at least not in that manner. Yes, it was widely reported that Cech and the other senior players disagreed with Scolari but they were unhappy at the lack of intensity in Scolari's training sessions. The senior players felt they were not being prepared adequately and our fitness and results records seem to back them up at the time.

 

 

By "faceless winning machine" I mean Mourinho's pursuit of success often at the expense of dignity. Mourinho expects his players to buy into the same win-at-all-costs mentality. Obviously, I enjoy winning more than anything else, but I still am a bit idealistic in that I enjoy players who marry a champion ability with an air of class, people like Zola, Lampard, Mata and of course Cech. I'd rather our club stay away from the cynical edge that Mourinho brings to his charges but I can accept that ultimately, winning is the only thing that matters.

Jose didn't sell sturridge he was in madrid at the time! Getting rid of mata is nothing to with tactics. It is simply letting a player go that doesn't feature much in your plans. Where is schurrle? You have a point there. Not sticking with ramires (not ramirez he plays for southampton) in a central position? Just because he has played 1 game out on the wing. And finally not playing cole. Azpil has been one of our best players so far this season in that position.

 

So please kevin give it up!

How can a serious fan of the club not know that Sturridge left before Mourinho even arrived ? It's very hard to take someone seriously when they don't even know something about the club that happened only a year ago. Also if you had been paying attention to Chelsea in the last 4 seasons then you would know that it's Ramires not Ramirez.

 

The fact that you get so many basic things about Chelsea so wrong it's no wonder people question if you are a Chelsea fan or not.

No he didn't, that is just something United fans would like to believe.

I like courtois but im not sure he would show us the same loyalty cech has. ai could see him angling for a move to barca or real after 5/6 seasons.

If selling him for big money ~25m, meant we were able to bring in players in areas we need, then id be fine with that.

Im sure over the next 5 seasons we can identify another replacement for cech, we have a poor record when it comes to buying strikers, but we always seem to end up with top keepers.

I think mourinho is a massive fan of courtois though, so it wouldn't suprise me if courtois was our number 1 keeper next season.

I doubt that Cech or Courtois will be content with a place on the bench, therefore we have to make a very difficult decision in the summer.
