Cech for me is the main man. This kid may be a rising rock star whos played a few shows and got a few tips of the hat, but Pete is the globally touring rock star machine that has been there and done it at CFC for over a decade now, so he deserves a lot more respect.

The ideal for me would be Cech to accept he cant play every game due to his injuries, become a coach and take Courtois under his wing while still there as a 2nd choice should we need him. That would be a great outcome for everyone, but I just cant see it happening.

Cech has barely been injured recently. It surprised me that the club gave him a new 5 year deal at 29/30. I know he put an amazing performance but the length of the deal surprised me. Why not make it 3 or 4 year deal.

It certainly is a difficult decision. I reckon Jose will let them battle it out which force Cech to play even better.

We have blessed to have such a world class keeper over the years. Lets not be too quick to throw him out. He would still walk into ANY premier league team and probably vast majority in Europe. Bar probably Bayern Munich.

I thought it was accepted he had some kind of back problem that will see him having to end his career early? Or have I read that wrong. Cant even remember where I saw that now.

I've read it too and then other stories about his elbows or something but he plays every game like a man who has no injury concerns at all.

I remember the Courtois quote, but I wasnt referring to that. I was sure I read something else about some chronic back injury. 

I personally would have like to see him go on loan in the Premier League before coming back to us. He wouldnt have dealt with anything like what he will have to in our league. It takes some getting use to. Im not saying he wont be good enough but it would have been nice for him to find his feet making mistakes for someone else.

this guy needs to shut the hell up. "a return remains possible"?? no, it remains definite if that is what we want to do. his son is under contract, and therefore we can choose where he goes. i think jose will either pick cech, or pick courtois and ask him to shut his dad up.

Brilliant performance from Cech last night, flawless other than a dodgy clearance or two. He had excellent command of his area and made a couple of world-class saves. Courtois has a mountain to climb to unseat this legend.
