February 23, 201313 yr Great from Lukaku but it is still completely different playing WBA game to Chelsea game. I'm not trying to bring anyone down I just want people to see how the difference between the styles. I'm not sure if we should bring him back for next season. It could go 2 ways with this. It would be extremely easier playing infront of players of our quality. Where would you perform better? In front of the like of Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Lampard, Ramires etc, or Gera, Dorrans, Long, Mulumbu and Morrison? Edited February 23, 201313 yr by Erik
February 23, 201313 yr Lukaku has scored more prem goals for West Brom than Torres .. That's interesting. Even more interesting I suspect if you compare their minutes.
February 23, 201313 yr Author Talking to a friend earlier whose cousin is a match-going West Brom fan, reason being that that's where his father comes from. So I'm hoping to get some first, or at least second hand reports before too long on West Brom fans impression of Lukaku.
February 23, 201313 yr my opinion is simply that the lad needs game time and plenty of it. if we cant offer him that next season, dont bring him back
February 23, 201313 yr my opinion is simply that the lad needs game time and plenty of it. if we cant offer him that next season, dont bring him back he should be our 1st choice striker. usually 1st choice strikers get plenty of playing time
February 23, 201313 yr Lukaku is definitely strong enough, talented enough and confident enough to play upfront on his own for us. However i still believe we will sign Falcao in the summer with Torres leaving which will likely mean no game time for Lukaku next season
February 23, 201313 yr Understatement of the year from Gary Lineker just now: "He (Lukaku) is putting Torres in the shade at the moment" I'd love to see him at the bridge next season, but I have a bad feeling that the club has infinite patience where Torres is concerned. February 23, 201313 yr Ba and Lukaku will have scored 30 goals between them by the end of the season. Good enough to rotate in front of our creative midfielders next season.
February 24, 201313 yr he reminded me today of a young George Weah, raw and powerful with lots of running in his legs. He has to be given a chance here next season even if we do sign Falcao.
February 24, 201313 yr Even if we do sign Falcao he can't do it all on his own. Many of our problems this year stem from going into a possible 70 game season with one and a half strikers in squad. We need three top level strikers as a bare minimum. Man U have Rooney, RVP, Hernandez and Wellbeck, City have Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and will almost certainly sign another in the summer. Ba, Lukaku and Torres' replacement should all get plenty of game time provided we have a competent manager who uses the squad properly. Edited February 24, 201313 yr by Englishman

Having a much deeper squad for one. Both clubs have 3/4 senior strikers because it would be madness to go into a campaign of 60-70 games with only two. It allows them to keep their best players fresh and it also gives them extra cover for injuries/suspensions/loss of form. Surely the experience of this season should have taught us that lesson. The kind of striker who would be cheap and happy to spend most of the season sidelined is not someone I'd want us to be relying on at any point. I think Lukaku would be an ideal 3rd choice. A teenager who's not yet good or experienced enough to be our regular main man but who has proved he can handle himself in the EPL. He'd get plenty of playing time if used correctly.
February 24, 201313 yr I don't think we need another striker when lukaku returns only if we sell torres and get a third low cost goalscorer or if we change to a two striker formation.
February 24, 201313 yr That sounds far to similar to an adult fetish including gentleman's relish I thought of that. Also my first attempt of spelling was wrong and sounded much more like the fetish of which you speak.

I don't seem to be able to embed this one unfortunately, but it's well worth following the link to see the sheer power of Luaku as he scores West Brom's second: http://www.1000goals.com/highlights/west-bromwich-albion-2-vs-1-sunderland-highlights-23-2#.USnoOP9P-3A
February 24, 201313 yr Last season he showed glimpses of quality but even when he played just 20 minutes he looked completely knackered and totally unfit... now he's playing full games, completely dominating defenders and sprinting the length of the pitch without breaking a sweat! What a contrast. If we don't go in for Cavani/Falco I'd love to see Lukaku and Ba competing for the role up front next season, I have no doubt he's ready to do the job for us.
February 24, 201313 yr Lukaku oh oh Lukaku oh oh he comes from stamford bridge, he's bigger than a fridge sorry lads an girls he'll be an Albion legend first, iv not seen a striker up the Albion like Lukaku since Cyrille Regis, the kids awesome but raw, he had his best game in an Albion shirt yesterday, he was unplayable for sunderland, he's said months ago that he wants to stay another season to play first team football, if i were a Chelsea fan id be happy for him to stay at the Albion, he's 19, some parts of his game need working on, sometimes he can be way way way out of position and he has drifted out of more than one game, but as said in earlier posts he is getting better and better, the way he's going he'll be a 30 goal a season striker by the time he's 23, just dont rush him back (for our sake lol)

Don't see why they can't play both up front. Not much seems to be happening with just the lone striker at the moment. Good article on Lukaku. He's a bit of a perfectionist! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2283891/Chelsea-loanee-Romelu-Lukaku-stays-studies-performances.html

I get more excited about Lukaku every week...
February 25, 201313 yr Falcao is a goal machine and would score alot of goals in the prem. However Lukaku is the ideal type to play in our formation with 1 up top. Hes big strong and very quick. Falcao is a poacher and not sure being a lone striker will suit him
