Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Is it not just easier to have Schurrle as one of the strikers; maybe even have him alongside Costa, similar to how liverpool played with SAS.

You could have an attack similar to this:

Schurrle Costa Willian/Oscar

Hazard

Oscar seems to play well for Brazil on the right wing. He puts in dangerous crosses and can link up well, which would be ideal, especially with Azpi using his pace to run behind the wing backs.

It's a bad idea because Schurrle is not a centre forward, he's a winger. Whilst that conversion worked for Henry at Arsenal it doesn't mean it will with Schurrle.

He doesn't really look a winger to me, lacks the pace and close control to be a really top winger. Through the middle though he looks such a threat.

I think WIllian and Hazard have those wide areas pretty nailed down.

I think he could end up been phenomenal on the wing played some great games at times last year. Personally I just don't see him as a CF at all, when he played CF he looked lost.

It's funny he should mention higuain, who ironically wasn't first choice til leaving madrid for napoli in the summer. Patience is a virtue.

I honestly think the way he was treated that first season, has left his opinion on the way our club is run, very negative.

I mean we payed 12m for one of the hottest prospects in the world, but we didn't give him a single start despite our misfiring forwards, left him out of the champions league squad, and had him play with the reserves.

Madrid had Higuain & Benzema competing for one spot, so they had enough pitch time 1737mins and 1780mins respectively. I don't understand why we need 3 considering Ba only got about 650mins which is just over 7 full games. Dortmund had only Lewandowski and Aubameyang, Bayern; Mandzukic, Pizarro and Muller who usually plays on the wings, Barcelona; Messi and Pedro, Madrid; Benzema and Morata. Liverpool, Utd and City always have 2 on the pitch which is why they have the numbers they do. I just don't see the need for 3 considering the number of AMs we have, and we also have Fabregas and Schurrie who can play as False 9s. IMO we have a Torres issue.

Has anyone considered the impact a non-performing Torres has on our forwards especially the younger ones? Assuming a Torres stays which looks very likely, where is Torres in the pecking order?

I reckon this must have played a part in Sturridge's thinking and also currently in Lukaku's. Last season he was 2nd in the pecking order, and you can't convince me we will have a £185k/w as a 3rd choice forward as it makes zero sense. If Torres was leaving we would have been hearing some noise in that regards, but it seems we are stuck with him for the next 2 seasons. That leaves Costa has 1st choice, Torres 2nd and Lukaku picking up Ba Mins, personally can't blame Lukaku for considering his options.

Hmm can't agree as he just doesn't have the pace or ball control to make it as a top winger IMO.

I thought he played pretty well when through the middle

^ I agree ducavis, I was suggesting he should take a leaf out of higuain's book, and spend a few seasons competing for a starting spot at a top club. If he isn't happy, then drop down a level like higuain.

Higuain has had to compete with raul, ronaldo, van nistelrooy, and benzema, whilst at madrid, and he still managed to put up fantastic numbers, and develop into a top drawer striker.

Which is why lukaku's quotes are ironic.

Hes one of the fastest players we have

Yes, you said the same thing just then. Schurrle lacks pace?

Yes, a good eye you have...

Rom rules out a further loan move... I agree we need a permanent solution with him whether he stays on leaves.

"What I don’t want is to be loaned out.

"I am 21 and I have been loaned for the last two seasons. Thibaut Courtois was loaned for three seasons and will be without doubt the first-choice Chelsea goalkeeper.

"And Kevin De Bruyne has been transferred permanently to Wolfsburg. They are free in their heads - it is not my case. That would free me totally."

I can understand where he is coming from on that front totally.

What I wish he would do is just learn to shut his trap and keep his discussions in house instead of giving the press regular updates as to his every thought on the matter.

More from big Rom:

"I don’t know - there are several clubs that are interested," he said.

"I need to make a good decision to reach the absolute top so that I can score a goal like Higuain against us. It is a dream for every attacker.

"Higuain has evolved slowly into becoming a top player. I want to show what I can do and play in the Champions League with a big club.

"The decision will soon be taken. I have some ideas but we will have to see what is best for the clubs. I don’t want to negotiate before the clubs have come to an agreement."

Sturridge had an entitlement problem too. He has proved that we made a mistake selling him.

He's worth a shot for six months, same as De Bruyne. If it doesn't work out as we saw with De Bruyne, his value will still hold. If it does we will have a potentially world class striker in the making.

I'm saying give it six months.

Don't really like those latest quotes, if true.

One thing taking about what is best for him (although that is tedious enough to be honest) but to now start referencing other clubs being interested and start talking about when he will 'negotiate' is all just needless and disrespectful to his current club. It's just not the done thing, the default answer to questions like this is seen time after time, something along the lines of "I just want to focus on getting fit and in shape for next season, I am currently a Chelsea player and that is my focus".

Not sure why he feels the need to allow the press to constantly dine out on his every thought, it won't ultimately have any bearing on what happens and where he goes but it just makes him look a bit immature and in my eyes a bit of a loose lipped twat.

I like him because he doesn't say stuff like that. Do people really want to hear that kind of bland, insincere bollocks?

Anyway, it sounds as if he's likely to move on, which would be disappointing and potentially something we will regret on.

Mikel got all sorts of stick on here for making a similar comment. And he also included mentioning how he WANTS to stay. The nerve.

Funny old game.

Everyone is entitled to voice his own opinion. Perhaps, Lukaku came out wrong with his rhetorics.

Could anyone blame him for trying to secure a chance to play elsewhere?

I don't think so.

Whatever happens we need to wait for a couple of weeks.

I dont blame him for trying to move on but I do blame him for mouthing off in the media. He should have just spoke behind closed doors to the club.

Tell him he is going to fight for the shirt number this year, if he's good enough he gets to start if not he sits on the bench. If he spits his dummy out, let him train with the kids like the big child he is acting.

That would be good but because of only having two years left on his contract this is the summer to sell him if we want to make any decent money off him.
