March 17, 201412 yr Isco, Pogba, Gotze, and Draxler are all younger than oscar. Youth is not an excuse for him. He's a good player, but he is not a number 10, if anything he's a box to box player, but he needs to bulk up significantly if he is to succeed in a role like that. I don't think Isco or Draxler would do any better and Pogba plays an entirely different position.
March 17, 201412 yr Our little diamond is looking like a little boy lost lately, can't fathom it out.
March 17, 201412 yr I read an article last week saying Oscar and neymar are brazils big hopes for the world cup. I wonder if the pressure (plus a fear of bad injury meaning he would miss it) could be a cause for his drop in form. It really is an enormous amount of pressure for a 22 year old kid to handle, especially playing in the Brazil number 10 shirt and all its history.

I dont think he needs to bulk up at all Oscar is a strong lad and very rarely do i see him getting pushed off the ball. If Modric, Fabregas can do well in centre midfield in the Prem with there size then i cant see no reason Oscar couldn't perform there either. I agree he isn't a number 10 though never have, always felt he's a box to box player i find his best attributes would suit him there.
March 17, 201412 yr He's been very poor for too long now, the start of the season he was on fire but this blip is costing us as we dont have another number 10 type now.
March 17, 201412 yr He's been very poor for too long now, the start of the season he was on fire but this blip is costing us as we dont have another number 10 type now. Hazard can play there, Willian can play there and Schurrle can play as a 2nd striker. Alternatively you don't play a number 10 and revert to a 3 man midfield with 2 of Willian, Hazard, Schurrle and Salah playing as more traditional wingers. We've got plenty of options, we have no reason to continue playing someone if they are out of form.

Jose clearly doesn't think the others can play there though and moving Hazard there takes away the thread down the left which is another problem.
March 17, 201412 yr Jose clearly doesn't think the others can play there though and moving Hazard there takes away the thread down the left which is another problem. Hazard in the middle, Schurrle on the left where he can cut inside and get a shot away. We have seen others play through the middle this season but Oscar is his preferred choice, we just need Mourinho to be prepared to divert away from his preferred attacking midfield 3... He's a fantastic manager but he can be extremely stubborn with his team selections and I think this is one of those times.
March 17, 201412 yr It would give us a different dimension, we can't keep playing guys who are bang out of form.
March 18, 201412 yr Best half of football from Oscar for quite some time. This suggests to me he looks far more comfortable in a counter attacking set-up than one where he has to pick apart a parked bus.
March 19, 201412 yr I read an article last week saying Oscar and neymar are brazils big hopes for the world cup. I wonder if the pressure (plus a fear of bad injury meaning he would miss it) could be a cause for his drop in form. It really is an enormous amount of pressure for a 22 year old kid to handle, especially playing in the Brazil number 10 shirt and all its history. More than that... is a world cup in Brazil. World cups in your home country is a one in a lifetime opportunity. I predicted Oscar returning to form WITH Chelsea after the world cup...

He's a good player, but he is not a number 10, if anything he's a box to box player, but he needs to bulk up significantly if he is to succeed in a role like that. And all have more experience than him in top level football. When he's having a rough patch it's easy to justify any reason for his form. He is a no. 10. People clamour for him to be utilised deeper but Jose and just about any person with functioning eyes can see how we weak he is on the ball. He is the no.10 Chelsea deserves, but not the one it needs right now...
March 19, 201412 yr Much better last night, though I do worry that Jose is trying to play him into form rather than just give him a rest for a couple of games. I can't see him not starting against Arsenal and we are going to need him to turn up big time for that one.
March 19, 201412 yr Excellent performance last night, he linked up far better with Hazard and Eto'o than in the past few games. He played a couple of one-touch outside of the boot through balls through their defence to Hazard which were absolutely sublime. I'm delighted to see him back in form as we are certainly going to need him at the weekend (especially in the absence of Willian)!
March 19, 201412 yr He was better last night but far from excellent IMO as his earlier form was far better. We are going to need him to up it a little at the weekend and hopefully the form comes back at the vital time.
March 19, 201412 yr Chatting with Robdog in the Arsenal match thread and it came up that Oscar hasn't got a chant/song. Rob has asked me to do a chant for Oscar at the match. So, any suggestions folks? ps in case there is any doubt, I do not seriously think I can start a chant on my own, but will try a little song on Rob's behalf!

So, any suggestions folks? ps in case there is any doubt, I do not seriously think I can start a chant on my own, but will try a little song on Rob's behalf! Ooooooh Ozzy Ozzy. Ozzy Ozzy our number 10. I worked really hard on coming up with that one.
March 22, 201412 yr I knew Oscars little dip in form wouldn't last. Well happy to see him back on form when it counts.
March 22, 201412 yr I knew Oscars little dip in form wouldn't last. Well happy to see him back on form when it counts. thank Scolari for that. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/club-form-key-scolari even if unconsciously, brazilian players were probably mentally unfit, worried about the most important World Cup in their lives, in their home country. Scolari's warning probably woke-up a few of them.
April 19, 201412 yr Hes just not good enough I know people will jump in with excuses for him . . . 'Hes tired, he has a newborn . . .' It all looks strangely familiar to the excuses Torres was getting. I wonder if these Oscar apologists are the same ones who want Ivan go. Ivan, a 30 yr old, who has barely missed a match seasons in a row, plays in a lot more physically demanding position than Oscar, hasnt skipped a beat, but Oscar, a 21 yr old, is tired. Hes not even a regular starter! If he cant keep up with this tempo then hes not good enough. If PSG offer 40 million for him id bite their hand off. Im just hoping Mourinho realizes the mistake he made relying on him. Edited April 19, 201412 yr by Lane
April 19, 201412 yr He's still got plenty of time to come good. But Mata would have done so much more for us this season.
April 19, 201412 yr He's still got plenty of time to come good. But Mata would have done so much more for us this season. People take youth for granted. It doesnt have to be a redeeming quality at all. The football world is packed with players who looked destined for greatness at a young age, yet failed to take the next step. You can pin the poor decision making on his youth, but its not just that. His first touch is decent at best, his passing is piss poor, half of his shots threaten to leave the stadium . . . April 19, 201412 yr I like his work rate but he looks so average on the attack, we may be able to argue with statistics as at times they aren't accurate but I think they are proving to be accurate now, he gets about 3-4 assists in a full season in all competitions, not very impressive. Needs to step his game up, I personally as Lane just said would bite PSG's hand off if they came in with a 40 million offer, I'm sick of him not performing up to standard, this dip in form thing has gone on for to long. April 19, 201412 yr Why did he take him instead of Ramires? Should of taken Ramires off and put Oscar in the pivot with Matic.
