Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

What a terrible comeback. "This wont last forever" Again your great at predicting the future. Our best performance of the season came when Oscar didn't start, City wont have an advantage as they have tougher fixtures than us.

You mean a city team without aguero. Nasri. Fernandinho.

You also realize city were lucky to draw their name game against norwich.

Oscar is the key to chelsea winning the league this year.

We beat City at home with those 3 players you listed all playing, Try again.

When will he get a rest?

With the WC coming up then pre season on the back of it it's going to be demanding on the fella especially since he's not had a summer off in 2 seasons.

And didn't Oscar make a "baby" dance or whatever you call it when he scored a goal a few weeks ago?  Does that mean that he and his wife recently had a baby?  if so, that also may be causing him to be tired, if the little one is keeping him up part or all of the night.

At this rate i'd give you another 2 weeks on here, tops.

You realize you can debate with people without insulting them?

That matters very little to me.

I have been insulted aleady by Jack and the other members so I fight fire with fire, if people are going to be silly with me saying I have a hard on for Balotelli when I'm trying to debate on why we should bring him then why can't I be silly back? If this is the rate it is going why would I really care.

OK, so back to Oscar.

I think he's been a fantastic signing, and there were many players in world football claiming that he had the makings of becoming World Class.  You don't just throw that around for everyone.

I've said it before, but I think it needs repeating.  He is the No.10 for his national team, whereas Mata has trouble breaking into the Spanish national team.  I know that's not the be-all and end-all of the situation, but to write Oscar off already, and claiming we made a wrong decision, is simply baffling.  It's not as if Mata is setting United on fire (and I know he's on the wing, but that's also where he plays for his national team), and we've continued a good run of results (not saying performances here before anyone jumps on that) without Mata in the team.

It has been mentioned already, but Oscar is a new dad.  Having just became one myself, I can tell you that it is all consuming.  So maybe football is not front and center of his mind?

I think Oscar will float in and out of the team for the rest of the season, maybe getting a strong run in before we break for the summer.  It will be interesting to watch him then in the WC.

He is an exceptional addition to our team and the ethic Jose is trying to build within this team.  Just off the boil a bit (which has happened to many a player in the past...including Lampard, for example)

Also...last night was his 100th appearance for Chelsea.  Lad has been playing full steam for quite a while now

Unbelievable- surely the fastest hundred for an outfield player?

I was shocked when I heard it too, but given how he seemed to be on every team last season and given the number of competitions and games we were playing, it's not overly surprising.

I don't believe anyone is writing him off so to speak. People are just expecting more and that is fair. He is not producing enough. And that doesn't just mean goals and assists. Iniesta has never been prolific in that sense, but there are subtler ways of contributing. The kid has superb work ethic (a la SFL) and is a great talent, that alone is as close to being guaranteed a future world class player as you're going to get. The flip side is having Mata who was prolific but we were weaker as a team I feel - probably Jose did as well.

Our attacking problems at the moment I think do stem from him quite a lot - not to say it's his fault but he has just hit a slump at a time where defenders seem to be ganging up on Hazard . The overcrowding over Hazard I don't think would be such a problem IF we had another outlet along that front 3 such as Oscar / Schurrle/ Willian . While I think these players (Willian in particular) aren't playing that poorly right now they don't have the attacking prowess to take some of the strain of Eden .

When Oscar/Willian begin to find some attacking form (which is just a matter of time) I think you will find the whole machine will run smoothly again . Even in saying that we are hardly playing poorly . Come on Oscar lad - now is the perfect time to find your legs again .

Another goal conceded.......

Guess who wasnt on the pitch.

Are you being serious?

You think Oscar would have sprinted through the box at that corner and risen above JT to clear it away?

Sadly i think he is being serious.

Maybe not head it away, but it would be very likely that he would have prevented the corner from ever happening.

Seriously though, no.

Oscar had another poor match, but I'll cut him some slack. Coutinho is going through a rough patch with Liverpool as well. Ramires is looking out of it.

The winter spell must have been hard on the Brazilians. I think Oscar and Ramires did a decent shift for us in the first half of the season, a slight dip was to be expected as we play such a high pressing game. Rotation is key here and luckily for us, we have a relatively large squad in comparison to Southampton who also play a high pressing game--they look like they're on their last legs and only 4 wins in their last 10 matches.
