Oscar - Little Diamond

Hope Oscar plays on Sunday, he's been missing a lot of late but he's one of our more direct players and we need as much of that as possible to rack up the goals and close down the goal difference between us and the other two. Maybe wishful thinking...

On SSN he said that he will maybe play in the last game of the season, thats it due to injury

I say release him to Brazil early, he's player so many games in 2 tough years and a world cup to come. he needs a break.

Agreed, although there is a lingering hope of league glory, it's a long shot and Oscar on current form probably won't be much help in that. There is no point forcing him to play if he's not at 100% physically, especially considering it will likely aggravate the injury and a World Cup on home soil is not something anyone wants him to miss out on. Hopefully he comes back fresh in the summer, with any luck with a World Cup winner's medal around his neck.

Coutinho and Willian have been better this season. I havent been watching Moura that much but against us he seemed like he can contribute more than Oscar.

Scolari might start the group stage with Oscar, but i feel he will be relegated to the bench during the course of the tournament

I wont be surprised if he ends up on the bench. Im actually expecting it

Yea scolari going to start a guy that has played one friendly on el selacco.

Lucas hasn't played for brazil since oct. And psg in general.

Make more dumb comments

so guys, Oscar wasn't playing yesterday and how many good opportunities did we create for ourselves??

Always finding Oscar to blame is the easy way out for some or the fact Mata was sold maybe because of Oscar, however, it was Willian that made mata expendable.

We get it you love Oscar.

As many have suggested Oscar as a BBM or a DLP should be the way more often (although he needs to stay in position moreso though as he tends to drift out wide which could make us susceptible to the counter attack). Oscar doesn't look like he runs through t through the opposition, but he can keep the tempo going and make surging late runs or find the right pass. Nonetheless, yesterday, while he wasn't showing his best form, seem to be the kind of player that plays for Brazil really.

I thought he was solid against Cardiff. Showed glimpses of real quality , particularly in the second half . The cross for Azpi was pin perfect and it ended up being a goal . His development next season will be very interesting indeed .

no

I remember seeing him there a few times, but thinking it might have been at the oylimpics actually. Laney brazil number one fan correct me if I'm wrong.

Cant remember the qualifiers but he played pretty offensively in the last year or so. Usually the closest one to the CF

Yes he does play deeper for Brazil. Yes he starts in the 10 role but he doesn't PLAY there. Brazil says he is their #10 but he doesn't PLAY that role. He drops deep most of the time and initiates the attack. Rarely does he supply the final ball.

EDIT: wanted to say 'olympics' not 'qualifiers'

Oscar lacks the one thing that makes the number 10 the standout player in a match. In the past players like Zidane, Rijkaard our own Gianfranco Zola have displayed the unique talent. In this World Cup only two, Miralem Pjanic and James Rodriguez have shown this ability. The ability to find space and 'have a look over the shoulder' and create a picture to deliver the perfect moment in a game. I get infuriated at times with Oscar and like with Chelsea it's the same with Brazil. He has the balance and class to be a worldbeater but he gets crowded out and rushed into a pass that rarely comes off. He showed it once with that goal against Juventus but that seems light years away. He has time on his side but I believe the ability to 'look over the shoulder' comes from within and cannot be trained.

I have always said that i am waiting for a repeat performance of that display against Juventus. He looked amazing that day, and he hasn't had an appearance like it since.

Maybe a bit harsh Scott. Everyone has days out like that. Was fantastic for the first few months of the season under Mourinho. Off the top of my head was immense against West Ham away. No doubt his form dropped off after the new year though.

I agree - he seemed to slump around Nov/Decemer and didn't really find form since then.

West ham and Sunderland away he was really good, but theres a severe drop off in talent there. Hes had one very good half in the world cup and thats it. I really hope he takes that next step but Im starting to doubt it will happen
