Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

Wasted on the wing though and he isn't creative enough to be a number 10 for me. Stick him in central midfield.

His passing range isn't too impressive IMO. He's a better tackler. He can produce a piece of magic here and there but won't be able to do it week in week out. That is why I also suggest him that role. Good legs and hard shot but in the Prem in fast pace his passing is not on good enough level IMO and decision making is not his best asset either. He is still young though.

I think his long range passing is pretty good, played some nice passes and crosses during the world cup so far. Even yesterday he put a lovely ball over the defence to Neymar and a cross to him which he headed wide.

Maybe worth selling him now to PSG and buying Rodriguez and Pogba. For if Real Madrid get hold of them both we can kiss goodbye to winning the Champions League in the next ten years. If we sell Cech, Ba, Moses as well with the Lampard and Cole wage savings and knowing PSG pay over the odds ...

People said the same thing when barcelona bought Sanchez. Juventus have Pogba AND Vidal and they didn't even get out of their group.

Sell Oscar (who we bought for around 20) for a player rated 60, and one who moved last season for 45 is pretty wishful thinking.

But he haven't been able to keep it up like Mata can. And his short passes that should open up defences are not world class. Sometimes I feel Matic' passing range is more impressive. And Oscar's decision making sometimes is a bit naive..

Oscar ain't going no where. I think his overall contribution last season wasen't poor but it was underwhelming for his potential. He needs a good season next year or I can see him sitting on the bench a lot with Fabregas playing the number 10 role next season. Though a rest would do him the world of good.

That is just unrealistic. We ain't going to spend £60,000,000 on Pogba, and Rodriguez isn't about to be sold by Monaco after 1 season.

See him more as a Frankie Lampard box to box type midfielder rather than a playmaker his game is more based around his high energy and excellent technique rather than those incisive little passes needed to play in the advanced position.

If he underperforms this season, then he'll likely be off next season. We can't have passengers in the team.

Have to agree, if there is one first team player I wouldn't be bothered to see leave (other than Torres obviously) it would be Oscar if he doesn't improve.

At the end of this coming season he'll have 2 years left on his contract and if he's still as uninspiring the club need to make a decision on whether to give him another 4-5 years or cut our losses.

He just needs to be more consistent. Nothing more really. He was our main man for a long time last season. I think the looming World Cup took away something.

He is still a great player and we need depth when he is underperforming.

This. I think he could easily get 15-20 goals a season from midfield. He is never going to be a creative genius, but having Fabregas in the team is actually going to help him I feel as all the creative responsibility won't fall on him.

mmmm Just a thought lads..
Oscar completed the second highest number of tackles in the world cup, and along with two goals, and two assists, tends to prove he wasn't quite as bad in Brazil as some would have you believe ;)

I agree, I see us playing a 4-3-3 this season with the first choice mid's being matic, fabregas and oscar. Matic will be your holding midfielder, oscar your box to box guy and cesc as the creative player.

In his first game where he scored and set up Neymar he was brilliant, the rest I thought he was average.

It's typical Oscar. Last season he had a few sensational games, but most of the time he remained dull. He has to become more consistent now. He's old enough and has been here for over two years - no excuses.

Why are we selling one of our best players all of a sudden?

He had a poor 3 or 4 months, that's all it takes for some people unfortunately.

Best players? Good one. You make the argument of having a poor 3 or 4 months but he didn't really have a long spell of success either. His start was great but but slipped off fast. Jose praised him for his work rate not his creative ability. He is not a number 10. I would take Isco and Cesc over Oscar and Cesc in a heartbeat.
