December 3, 201510 yr I think it looks great. Blends in with the surrounding area, looks imposing from the outside, gets us to 60k and I can only assume keeps us up to date facility wise. Its miles ahead of anything we have in America in terms of looks and its good to have something distinctive instead of what our rivals will have, outside of ManU.
December 3, 201510 yr It's beautiful! It's forward thinking, nothing else compares. The Emirates is just a boring arena but our new stadium is much more. I was dreading a boring bowl but this is top notch architechture in the heart of London and will be envied by many. Seems like a whole new experience on match days cafes, shopping etc. i can't wait, it won't come soon enough for me. Bit surprised its not being used for any other events, but that may change. Love it! The experience of Cafes, Shops as a match day experience breeds tourists. Nonetheless its the sign of the times and anyone thinking that this new stadium will increase our atmosphere are going to be in for a big shock. Put Dortmund fans in any type of stadium and they will create an atmosphere. Chelsea like nearly every top English club don't create consistent loud atmospheres. Never have done since I've been a fan and never will.

Can think of quite a few distinctive and iconic stadiums off the top of my head.
December 3, 201510 yr The USA has zero culture. Everything that happens there is borne off the innovation from the rest of the world. Their stadiums are uninspiring and boring.

Most traditions and culture are born from the rest of the world mate, very few (if any) cultures have existed in the same way for thousands of years. USA have an unbelievable sporting culture both from supporters and the fact they are competitive in just about every sport there is. Which stadiums do you think are uninspiring? I can think of so many fantastic NFL and baseball stadiums Edit: Not to mention college stadiums Edited December 3, 201510 yr by Van Butsen

I can think of so many fantastic NFL and baseball stadiums Edit: Not to mention college stadiums The new builds like Red Bull Stadium and MetLife Stadium are soulless bowls. Open airs like the many college stadiums are huge but largely uninspiring, with as many Americans crammed in as possible. The more interesting ones are the baseball stadiums because of their mish mash appearance reminiscent of cricket stadia in this country, but they're still packed full of advertising and LED's and neons and awful beer. Chelsea have made such a massive effort to incorporate the new stadium within the surroundings, lessen impact on residents, improve public access and stay true to the areas history. The result has been a stadium totally unique and beautiful, providing a link to the past as well as a nod to the future. What has America done?
December 3, 201510 yr Sh1t beer and a full house, sounds like a good day at the cricket to me.Have you been to Metlife stadium? Plenty of soul when I was there.. and it was about 0 degrees. It's probably not an example I'd use of a good stadium in the US though. To me, the US have a plethora of quality stadia and quality atmosphere in a number of sports.Just google best US stadiums and have a look at the lists, some great ones in there for an aesthetic point of view.
December 3, 201510 yr If I had to pick between the Metlife stadium and our new stadium... it's Metlife for me. In any case, atmosphere is created by people not by stadiums.
December 3, 201510 yr Really? Can think of quite a few distinctive and iconic stadiums off the top of my head. Nothing new anyway. Our old stadia are generally pretty cool

It's personal taste of course but with no roof things might get a bit damp if you plonked the MetLife stadium in SW6. Why was it so expensive by the way?
December 3, 201510 yr The USA has zero culture. Ignorance sometimes feels like the purest form of comedy. Hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.
December 3, 201510 yr Regards stadiums in the USA, i went to Toronto Blue Jays the other year at their Rogers Centre(i know its not the USA but you get my drift) While i liked the stadium i found it quite a strange arena, a bowl surrounded by loads & loads of electronic screens, we were in the upper tier & the cheap seats & it was cramped, we had metal bars right in front of us & it just felt really tight in there. Beer was $10 a can, the atmosphere was non existent until the Blue Jays got a run. I'm glad i experienced it as i'm a bit of a ground hopper but mainly in football. While i havent got anything against Americans i must admit some of their traits get on my tits, all that high 5v'ing, woopping & crap, sadly its gone global especially over here along with some of their language, "move your butt" "guys" "vacation" Gone off topic a bit there, "sorry guys"
December 3, 201510 yr Back to our new ground, reading elsewhere i saw someone ask about our original 1953/86 badge being re-introduced? I'd love it if it is, i'm probably living in dream land but i can live in hope!! "Interesting that the most recent Chelsea badge doesn't feature in the planning documents, with them opting to use the 1953-86 badge." And of course the

December 3, 201510 yr http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1079233&page=41 Hmm it seems like the stadium looked entirely different throughout the stages of the design process. 5.3, 5.4 and 5.6 look a bit more interesting than what they eventually went with.
December 3, 201510 yr I think it looks excellent, very different from the standard bowl being built all over now. I also have a feeling it's going to look incredible at night games, European ties are going to be an amazing experience... My 3 favourite bits so far though are there fact were going to get a tweaty bird.... http://i.imgur.com/5K0G4bh.jpg And I like the sound of these grand total entrance halls http://i.imgur.com/XUTKgLf.jpg And also the new player tunnel looks very cool. http://i.imgur.com/1Eu8RGK.jpg
December 3, 201510 yr Feyenoords stadium ''de Kuip'' has the same kind of player tunnel. Looks pretty cool.

December 3, 201510 yr Well i think it's incredible, the views from the different streets around the ground remind me of scenes from Gladiator..I will have goosebumps and a lump in my throat the first time i approach it that's for sure...Nice one Roman.
December 4, 201510 yr I'm very intrigued by the badge thing. Could we really be about to change it back to the first badge I ever knew as a Chelsea fan? I quite like the current badge - certainly compared to Batesy's disected lion - but compared to what I think of as our original badge it really doesn't stand up. Looking at the crest now, even in unfamiliar 'slate and bronze', it truly is a thing of beauty. Pure class. This is important of course because if the badge is going to be used to decorate the new stadium (as per the image below) , it needs to be the right one...
December 4, 201510 yr I don't know how true it is but I think I remember one of the arguments when Bates changed the old badge was that 'heraldic' images like the original lion couldn't be copyrighted and thus merchandising couldn't be protected etc. Don't know if that was BS or not?

I think Lord Chelsea owned the image rights and would not sell as it was a family crest but could be wrong ........
