Willian

2nd game running playing through the middle and again he disappoints and frustrates me.

His decision making and ball retention against City was one of the low points last week.

First half today on at least three occasions he wasted good openings with dreadful finishing. With basically the whole goal to aim at he put the ball wide... Misses like that could cost us big time.

I'm sorry but he's a liability in that central area, his final ball, decision making and shooting ability isn't good enough to justify his playing there for me.

Said this after the City game, was true of the WBA game as well and he was even worse today.

Needs to stop playing in the number 10 role because he simply isn't good enough to do so.

If Oscar isn't fit for the Everton game put Hazard central and play the young lad Kenedy out on the left or go two up top by playing Falcao giving the wide players something to aim at.

Schurrle played like that he was ditched at half time and not seen again for a month... Willian has had his chance and in the centre and failed miserably.

I think what seals it for me is that he's incapable of switching the ball. A lot of attacking momentum is lost when he shanks the ball over the sideline.

He would be amazing as a 65-70 min sub. It would make the best out of his abilities as his two strengths correspond to most late game scenarios of either needing to hold out (his work-rate can come into play and carrying the ball on the counter) or needing more threat and pace when looking for a late goal (his pace vs tired defenders can come into play).

In fact, if you're a tired defender Willian is one of the last players you'd want to see late in a game. It's like bringing on a technically sound Rami.

It's a general lack of composure in the final third, most if his play is either too slow or extremely sloppy, either way it feels like on more occasions than not that he does something to stifle our build up than contribute to it.

When was the last time he made the GK come up with a real save ? maybe it was coincident, when he took a few shots from outside the box on Saturday, the palace players didn't try hard to close him down. I guess Padrew figured it all out, the guy with funny hair is playing rugby when he shots.

Incredibly frustrating player, even at his best.

^ He's certainly been good at exploiting the 'Zone of Uncertainty' lately. For direct freekicks I would pick Oscar over anyone else in the squad, but good to see Willian getting results for different circumstances.

Yeah it was ridiculous I sat there watching and in my head as he stepped up I felt confident that he would put a good delivery that would end up in a goal. But on a side note is it just me or do we just not score from corners anymore? Can't remember the last one we did.

Teams would usually mark Zouma, Cahill and Ivan in corners and this has already taken out most of our aerial threats. I realised Matic would usually position himself near the far post which is a rather good spot but our corner kick takers are constantly not able to get the ball into the box that far. Oh, and Diego always seemed to be sandwiched by his markers at the centre.

Matic isn't as good in the air as we'd assume think he scored a header last year in the champions league

Well, what you said is true. Ironically, he is our tallest outfield player.
