Mario Balotelli

Featured Replies

You mean like Drogba?

Yes

Drogbas antics werent harmless. We wouldve probably won the CL if he didnt decide to slap Vidic. Unfortunately for Mario, his discipline is worse than Drogbas, and so is his ability.

sorry, but getting sent off and fighting it out with your teammates over whos gonna take the free kick is hardly harmless

Only Mario is to blame over confusion who takes free kicks? Does it have anything to do with mismanagement?!

I think Son Heung min is to blame

No, not when it comes to Balotelli it isn't. How many managers has he had now ? are they all mismanaging him ?

He's just a spoilt baby who will one day look back at his career and wonder why he wasted it.

Exactly.

The only person holding him back is himself.

No manager is going to make a bit of difference to him IMO.

I suppose it's one of those ones then, if we get him then we will have confidence in Mourinho to handle him, otherwise Mourinho wouldn't risk it if he wasn't confident that he could do the job.

And if he doesn't get him, probably the best striker he can get right now, then we can only assume that Mourinho doesn't want him due to his attitude.

If he goes to Arsenal we will regret it IMO.

He's a far better footballer than Costa with an equally bad short fuse.

I'd hate for him to go to another EPL side

Mario Balotelli’s agent has suggested his client may be interested in a move to Arsenal after the World Cup.

Mino Raiola, who also represents Zlatan Ibrahimovic, said that the Milan striker is out of most team’s price range – but would not rule out a transfer for the Italy forward, who scored the winner against England last Saturday.

“Arsenal are a fantastic club,” Raiola told Sky Sports when questioned about reports in the British press linking Balotelli with a move to London.

“Only eight or 10 clubs in the world can afford Mario Balotelli – like all premium players, and he is one of the greatest.” As to whether the move will happen, he said: “Anything is possible.”

Would be a huge coup for Arsenal if they signed Balotelli.

I like him as a player, the greedy side of me would love to see both him and Costa sign for next season, I think it would be an explosive forward pair in every sense of the word (well, maybe not literally exploding).

I'm not sure I can see us moving for him though now that Mourinho has publicly declared interest in Costa and I'm not sure I see two high profile strikers signing at the same time.

I'd settle for Lukaku returning and having him and Costa as our options though.

:(

I'd hate that to happen.

He would really change them from a chasing 4th to a title challenger.

I doubt Jose wants to coach him again, it's no easy task from Mario's history. On his day he's good, but he's very inconsistent. Although he's young, it's not like his 19, he should have matured a lot more by now.

Agreed, I really think some people are in love with the idea of Balotelli when he plays well but the fact is he doesn't so it enough and his antics are not worth the trouble, don't even think we're looking at him anyway and it's pretty clear we're signing Costa.

Sounds a lot like Lukaku you are describing.

Both Balotelli and Lukaku need to mature at their own pace.

I think both  are excellent strikers.

Costa is also an excellent striker. If I were a defender I just would not want to play against him he looks like he his ready to have a rumble anytime. "Nightmare" some might say. :)

These threads give me a chuckle these days, the same people who call Balotelli a nutter, are creaming themselves at the thought of Costa. The same Costa that spits in his gloves and throws it at people, only the other day stuck the head on someone for no particular reason. Make no mistake about it, if some of the things Costa done on a football pitch happened on the street, he'd be in jail.

So Immobile grabs a hat rick in Italy's final warm up game before the World Cup and come the first game the manager picks who many on here wouldn't give the time of day. He then gives Gary Cahill his biggest battle for ages and loses him to head home the winner. A mature performance throughout and a constant threat leading the line. To say I am staggered he still gets slaughtered for his past is an understatement. Jose has often described him as a loveable rogue who one day will show he is a genius on the pitch yet the majority wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. He has scored 30 in 54 games for Inter in a league that prides itself on miserly defences. He scored 30 in 80 games in a troubled spell at Man City. He made the Euro Team Of The Tournament in 2012 and Ashley Cole suggested he was his toughest opponent. In 2023 he bagged 7 further goals for Italy in 13 games. Yet his troubled past seems to get on people's goats. I put it to everyone John Terry and Jody Morris were wayward off the pitch when they were young, one took the right road the other did not but they were given an equal chance by Chelsea fans. Balotelli has never matched the shennanigans of the Chelsea 70's side with Huddy and Co in pubs at 230 on a Saturday yet people who do not understand him or football mavericks to be honest voice opinions against him. I have said it many times before, he is the modern day Eric Cantona and he will mature in the same way and at 23 will always have re-sale value in Italy. It is a complete nothing to lose transfer opportunity and let's not forget as time bombs go he is nowhere near that of Costa on the pitch. WE NEED SUPER MARIO and we can fund his transfer by selling Lukaku 'I'm the greatest thing on earth' to leave us with a triple strike force of Costa, Balotelli and Torres.

I'd take Mario over Costa but you can see why Jose is going for the latter.

Costa will work his socks off (if he's not been sent off for being a cock) while Mario just trudges about feeling sorry for himself.

Mario is by far the better footballer but Costa's work ethic and desire make him a Jose player.
