He's definitely a player that divides opinion but for me he's outstanding. Stats don't lie and we are a better team with him in the side. He's also one of few players we have with the kind of mentality Drogba, Ballack et al. Willing to put a foot in. Outside of England he's highly rated and a big reason why we've enjoyed cup success over the last two seasons as well as a brilliant run at the end of the 2010/11 season.

Hopefully with him out the side people will see how important he is and he'll get the respect he is overdue after the World Cup this summer.

I'd probably bring him back alongside JT for the next match. Cole to LB as well.

"He isn't suited to the style of the Premier League" will be the outcry. Though of course, he's good enough for Barcelona and that tiny footballing nation Brazil. Strange how the same was said of Modric, Silva and Mata and look how that turned out. For a guy that has won major trophies for club and country the lack of respect is astounding.

Excellent player with a great mentality and even when he hasnt been in the team you have never heard any moaning or bitching. If we sell him he will be a great loss and whoever gets him will be very lucky.

I'd rather his defending was top notch. While he's a likeable guy and hugely talented, I don't think he has it in him to be that top drawer centre half we need.

He speaks English pretty well. When we signed him he couldn't speak a word.

Mourinho put a lot of trust in Luiz in midfield today, could have easily tried to have play it safe and play Mikel. Luiz certainly didn't let Jose down

 

Expect to see him in the team a lot more

Was over the moon Brian when I saw the starting line-up with Luiz alongside Lamps. Thought it worked brilliantly and Jose must have seen that too.

 

He may have the odd lapse, like Mikel but he can play the killer pass, head a ball, cover more ground, in fact just be so much better in just about every department.
