We arn't asking you because Schurrle is a great player . Offers something different for us and seems to be prepared to fight hard for the blue shirt . He'll have his day .

Schurrle is a good player and will be a good signing for us,Marin was signed before we won the CL when our targets would have been different.Winning the CL helped us get Hazard and Oscar.

To be fair to the lad he hasn't had a run of starts yet.

 

Against Stoke which was his first start since New Years day he hit the post and almost had an assist in the 70 minutes he did play then he doesn't even come off the bench against West Ham despite Willian (who replaced him in the starting line up) having a bit of a stinker. 

 

I think there's more to come from him but it a bit unlucky in that the left wing is his best position but Hazard has been our player of the year so far so is finding opportunities limited. 

Not saying there isn't ability there FC, but he reminds me alot of Jesper Gronkjaer. His decision making and final ball delivery requires an awfully big improvement. Also think he needs to be physically stronger for this league. Gets brushed off the ball a bit to easily for my liking.

I'm not going to disagree with any of that, funnily enough decision making and final ball quality is what I think Willian needs to improve on as well. 

 

There's undoubtedly a lot of talent in our attacking midfield but it's hard not to feel like there might be more to come.

'A great player' calm yourself right down hahaha, he's no where near a 'great' player. still room for improvement but he's been ok so far, people raving about his shooting though, he had the most shots in the league last year yet was no where near the top goalscorers? He might be able to hit them hard but they end up in row ZZ.

haha I think you just hit the nail the head with the gronkaer comparison. I think he needs tp be more of a match winner. I would like tp see him given a few games up front though.

Even so he's still more physically imposing than any of our other attacking players.

We were saying the same kinds of things about Ramires in his first year at the club.

We said the same about Makelele after his first season.

Arsenal said the same about Thierry Henry in his first season at Arsenal.

Exactly Gareth Bale is another great example,nearly sold to Birmingham City for £3M when struggling at Spurs.

Wouldn't say great but he was doing well,Willian performances got better and Schurrle got worse apart from the Stoke game.

Willian hasn't really impressed me attacking wise. He just works a lot harder.

 

Reckon he'll start against City.

It's hardly high regard when most of us are just suggesting he has shown signs of what he can do if given more game time in the right position, which seems to be in and around the penalty area, that's why I would like to see him rotated with Eto'o up front.

Totally baffling that you kind of disregard him already, not even been here a full season.

I thought he looked good when he came on today. Picked players out which gave them a chance to score and had a few goes at goal himself. I love his hunger and he's great to bring off the bench when needed.

I dont see any of this pace he's supposed to have, and his inability to beat a man still drives me insane. 9 times out of 10 he'll dribble straight into the opposition player's legs.

liked the look of salah though. pace for days. . and we know he can finish, just needs time. either way I cant see schurrle or salah being anything more than impact subs.

Isn't that what Oscar does - never beats his man?   I think he really has had a huge dip in form for the last month or so.

I totally agree with this. Schurrle showed us all what he is capable of v Stoke and while the result wasn't great it's his first season with the club and people need to be more patient. It looks like he is fighting really hard to get back into the starting line up which is the kind of honesty that the likes of Willian and Oscar need at this moment . 

 

Besides - I thought he looked good coming off the bench today .
