Paul Pogba - Needs to Sign!

Featured Replies

I don't think Pogba would suit us, tbh I think he'll be a Barca player next Summed anyway.

He suits us and the Premier League a lot better than he does Barca imo.

He'd be excellent in any league. He'd be a gem beside Matic I've no doubt at all about that.

However if Barca come calling which they will that's where he will be.

Give them 50 million, Cuadrado, Ramires, one of Roman's Ferrari's, my granny, some chelsea underwear and a snickers. Throw in a signed football if that helps too, we should be doing all we can to sign him, a midfield duo of Matic and Pogba would be arguably the most formidable double pivot in football.

What are the odds of that?! I can see it now, Pogba and Eva walking onto the Hawthorns arm in arm to announce that it was all an elaborate Mourinho smokescreen. Jose takes his seat on the bench with Eva and Jon, all sporting wry smiles.

Why would we pay an outrageous amount for Pogba and then play him out of position at DM?

But he wouldnt REALLY be playing as a DM, that's the job Matic does, double pivots don't really operate with two defensive players, if we look at the like of Man City with Toure and Fernandinho, Toure plays box to box while fernandinho sits slightly deeper, so Pogba would be filling that box to box role for us. He's strong in both attack and defense though, unlike Fabregas, and is much more in the mould of Essien than Makelele, so in that sense he wouldn't be playing as a traditional DM.

If mourinho doesn't like how loftus-cheek doesn't track back, then he will equally dislike it when pogba does it too. RLC is not too disimilar to pogba, except the experience at top level, but give RLC chances in his natural position and he can be our pogba. pogba is potential, just like RLC is potential, difference being that the former has had the opportunities to build up his experience with a top team in a good league and is now receiving a ton of hype because of it.

i would much rather we stick to our own at this point instead of spending needlessly on someone like pogba who would cost a bomb. have some faith in our youth system ffs, otherwise they will get driven out. ake has already expressed his gratitude for being given a chance at his new loan club, so it's about time we start bleeding through a few of our own before they start feeling resentment towards our club.

This is like saying that if he were available we shouldn't "spend needlessly" on Messi because he might block the path for Boga.

Saying "Pogba is potential" is ludicrous.

I maybe wrong about him but every time I've watched him, I've felt we'd need someone with more discipline to play alongside Matic. It'd be a bit like putting Fabregas there because we have no better option. Pogba is more athletic than Fabregas but I don't think he's positionally any better. Of course at his age, he will improve. I just think his best attributes are suited to playing further ahead and being given more freedom.

Matic

Fabregas - Pogba

Actually think that would be a cracking midfield with Pogba as the most advanced.

Ehhhh Pogba isnt quite Messi is he? Messi is what he is, Pogba has a lot of room to grow in every category except hair-styling. I agree with what hes saying about developing our own talent instead of dropping tons of cash on a new player who is also still developing. RLC has just as much potential as Pogba, hes just further behind in realizing it.

Putting 50 down for Stones is very different than 50 for Pogba. We actually have promising young players at CM.

Exactly, So not only would you get one of the best midfielders around, You would also get longevity and a potentially huge return...

His point was you could also get those things by sticking with RLC. Pogba was barely playing for United at his age. Whats to say he wont make the same jump if given game time like Pogba eventually got a Juve?

Signing Pogba would be great, but why not keep the money and let a current player with just as much potential have a chance?

RLC at 18/19 has been given even more press than Pogba had at the same age.

I could see your point if Pogba was 30 and had seen his best years but he's 22 ffs.

You're locking up a homegrown top 5 midfielder in the world for the next 10 years by signing him.

Now which is a worse scenario

a) we sign Pogba and in a couple of years RLC is as good as him, what a horrible problem that would be eh  :face_palm:

b) we pass on Pogba because RLC might be as good as him but it doesn't quite pan out like that and Pogba dominates europe for someone else for the next decade

Come on now.

Do you honestly think RLC will sit the bench for 3 years without leaving? He would be in the exact siutation Pogba was at United when he left! And why couldnt RLC be better or just as good as Pogba?

I can play this game too.

A) We sign Pogba, RLC leaves to get playing time and turns out to be great, Pogba never develops into a great player (he does play in Italy *wink*)

B) We dont sign Pogba, RLC turns out to be just as good and we spend the 50m on some other great young player.

Or even if RLC doesnt work out we have money in the bank for Pogba or someone else later. I specifically wrote Pogba would be a great signing. However I think its a distinct possibility RLC will be just as good as him considering where they both were at 18/19. Any number of things could go just as easily good or bad for the two.

All this talk of developing young players and everyone seems conent throwing up roadblocks in favor of signing established talent. Again, Pogba would be great to have but he aint coming this summer unless we offer stupid money. Pogba will go for 100m when he leaves Juve. Im questioning whether thats a vital investment to make
