Paul Pogba - Needs to Sign!

Featured Replies

Sweet! Another thread hijacked by Mikel being average rubbish, shyte, or whatever else can be said about him... Perhaps we should just start an entire website (let alone thread) about Mikel and how much he sucks...

Every club forum has those players, at my Bayern forum it was pretty much the Robben forum :P

The Mikel sitting on arse comment is largely driven by the evident marginalising throughout the season. Does he honestly think he has any chance of regular first team football this coming season? He surely knows where he stands.

Anyway, forget mikel. As per the thread title, I think we can at least all agree on the fact that pogba would be a magnificent buy - but I am sceptical as to whether the story has any legs. Fingers crossed.

Oh dear...another one...will we never be set free...

I'll start with the corrections...

First, Mikel was not marginalised throughout last season as you state - he played in 36 games last season, roughly the same as in the season before, and season before that, and the season before that.....so the antecedent about him sitting on his arse is hardly made out is it ?!? Frank Lampard played in 40 games last season - are you going to suggest that he sat on his arse as well?!? No, didn't think so. Accordingly, you only use the idiom as a preposition in an attempt to deflay any criticism of those who (being rightly criticised) suggest or, worse, express the opinion that Mikel is a latter day Bogarde. What f**kin gall & hardly apposite at all.

Second, is your idea of "first team football" playing in less than 37 "first team" games is it? Or 40 perchance or 45 or, is it 60 or 70? Who would know since you don't provide us with the benefit of any definition in that regard do you? As for the further comment that "he knows where he stands" - apart from being somewhat ironic (in circumstances where you & other tawdries complain that he just wants to sit on his arse) what on earth has that got to do with anything?!? Are you of the rather unfounded and rather novel view that Mikel picks himself on the team-sheet every week ?!?

Third, don't presume to think that anything concerning Pogba is agreed among us or that all of us believe that he would be a "magnificent buy" as you say. That smacks of arrogance and conceit.

Your rather new here - learn.

The voice of “youlots” has spoken! It has been so decreed that those who choose to express opinion on Mikel are deemed surplus to requirements, and the almighty saviour of this fair internet forum has instilled upon us his overtly convoluted Gordian diatribe in which he appears to suggest that no others shall dare question the brain-behind-the-keyboard; those who do SHALL DIE! I’ll take your post with a pinch of salt and assume you had an argument with the Mrs last night. Either that, or you’ve studied towards an MBA in arrogance at Harvard. Third option is you’re just a bit of a nob.

I believe that Mikel started 12 Premier League games in the 2013 / 2014 season, so the “appearances” metric is fundamentally flawed and can be skewed to bolster your argument – which, may I add, was something I had not intended upon when making a general comment about my view of Mikel’s contribution to Chelsea FC. With the addition of central midfielders in Tiago, and Fabregas (assuming Fabregas is to play as a central midfielder, given that his own bio says he is a central midfielder for Chelsea FC) then the logical assumption would be that Mikel’s time is likely to be further marginalised throughout the coming season. Perhaps even more so if we are to add further central mids, as we are being linked so heavily with such players in the press. It simply cannot be argued that Mikel is good enough to maintain a starting position in the squad, and I have yet to meet any Chelsea supporter who I travel with to away games, sit near at the Bridge, or socialise with post-match who believes that Mikel is anything other than surplus to requirements. We hear the noises about how he will “stay and fight for his place”; I’m sorry, but unless the bloke has serious problems with basic logic then he must be fully aware of the fact that his playing time is going to become increasingly restricted, hence my comment about him being prepared to sit on his arse.

Pogba would be a magnificent signing. He is a class act, and there is a reason Juve have slapped a £60m pricetag on his head. If you disagree, then that’s fine. The majority of football fans I know would take him in their team in an instant.

Finally, I’m not specifically “new here”. Nor do I need to “learn”. The most important measure of my support, I would suggest, is my loyalty through possesison of a season ticket and my travelling far and wide to support the team. I dont really see the contributions on a forum as being a relevant measure of one's knowledge or support of the club.

I cant really be bothered rising to it to be honest mate, but I would genuinely be happy to meet you pre-match at Burnley to explain in further detail, or indeed at the Bridge for Leicester at home – private message me to arrange and I’ll shout you a pint post-Leicester in the Fox & Pheasant.

Cheers for the input though Sir. Value it greatly.

To all other rational, balanced, and basically friendly Chelsea fans - I apologise for hijacking this thread and getting into a back-and-forth with someone who seems intent on argument. I lashed out at someone on another thread and appreciate this is not particularly becoming and shouldn't be getting involved in this kind of crap, so apologies to all.

C'mon chelsea

Cheers

No source at all. He's just attracting followers by spreading false info. And this account only got 3.5k followers. Utter bullsh*t.

see my above post. I just chucked it on here as its the rumours thread.

look back over the titles on this thread and tell me how many of the players we have actually signed.... not many I expect.

welcome to silly season.

Yeah but this one is very very silly. It's like I've made Suarez has joined Chelsea for 5 year deal yada yada... (No sources etc.)

at least you didn't suggest Scott Brown's tainted titles would make him a natural choice for Juve

This is truly a head spinning transfer window.  I love Pogba and he would be in our squad for the next decade, but I'm not sure he is needed at this point.  Before the Cecs signing I would have said spend the 60M on him  ALL day, but now that we have Fabregas, I just don't see how we can put two new midfielders in the line-up and still have room for our normal starters.

UNLESS....

We drop Willian and play with Oscar / Schurrle and Hazard up top with Costa.  Then I'm all for it.
